Omiko dives out of a tree and rolls forward a few times before springing up to her feet.
"Oh. There you are."
The robot eye looks her up and down.
"You're some sort of cow-lady now. Why?"
Swamp Island
Clara huffs.
"A witch in the house stole a few things from me. Namely, most of my mom's genetics and my left eye. I might need to ask where you got your nice replacement eyes once you help me burn this place to the ground." she says, jabbing a thumb at the witch's cottage.
Omiko flickers the running lights to effect a blink.
"Seriously? You said you were going to wait right there on the beach! Then you went and lost your eye to a witch?"
"..."
"Well to get a replacement eye like mine we're going to have to look up my old coworkers. They might not be too happy to see me."
"But burning things down, I can handle."
That's got the pirate on board. Look how much she's smiling.
Her gun arm hums and starts rapid-firing energy bolts at the stump-cottage.
Swamp Island
"Noo, I was on the beach, you told me to follow you, and I got sidetracked trying to do that. Also, the witch told me that he saw your crew, maybe. Also she's going to be mad, just so ya know." she says, not particularly worried.
"I don't suppose you're capable of making people human again as good as you are at making them boats?" she asks casually while Omiko blasts the stump with lasers.
A somewhat tinny little speaker plays back a recording from not un-recently.
"Yeah, only once have I run into someone who was glad to have their home burned down. Really needed the insurance money."
Omiko starts a smaller fire over here, and gathers some reeds to make a little torch which is offered to Clara. Maybe she'd like to be hurling them over the moat to contribute to the burning?
"As for making someone human, not that I know of...Dot doesn't either. We could try adding some humanlike patterns to your body and then putting your mind back in on top. But you might just end up as a vegetable."
True to prediction, we can hear the witch shouting something angrily with Clara's voice and clattering from inside.
Swamp Island
"I don't know if you mean literally or metaphorically. But either way, I'd rather just find someone who's an expert on doing stuff like that." she says, before hurling one of the torches.
"Good luck figuring out your new allergies!" she bellows cheerfully.
Omiko returns to in incinerating the place.
A few moments later, we see witch!Clara ride a vacuum cleaner through a flaming window and off into the sky, yelling unprintably rude things back at the minotaur and the cat.
Swamp Island
"Intend that!" Clara yells, thoroughly enjoying herself.
"Anyway, let's get back to the boat. I need to nap. Hard. And then think about what I'm going to do about this eye." she says, momentarily opening it so Omiko can see it.
"Sleep would be nice."
Omiko throws a little torch by hand, a parting shot, and then takes a quick look at Clara's eye.
"Ehm. You're going to need a whole new one."
Then it's off into the swamp. This way!
Swamp Island
"Well, yeah, but where am I going to get one?" she huffs, trying to follow Omiko. She trips and has to grab the cat's shoulder to avoid falling over.
"Ack. Stupid backwards legs." she swears.
"I'd recommend an optometrist. But any cyberware-barber should do in a pinch."
Omiko helps catch her, and then takes Clara by the hand so as to keep her steady.
"Remember, you're just walking on your tip-toes."
Swamp Island
"Yeah, I know. I've done this before, just...my Roles usually brainwash me so I can function. So, uh, what do you think? How do I look?" she asks as they go.
"Red." Omiko answers quickly, before launching into a longer explanation. "It's likely that you would be considered slender and somewhat sickly-looking by other members of your father's minotaur-race, while to humans, you would remind them of a stereotypical opera singer. Other than your eye, you appear to be in good health. In my organization specifically, you would appear to be particularly respectable and easy to approach."
"Personally, I think you look cute."
"I don't eat meat at all, so being cow-like doesn't confuse the issue at all to me. Not that I ever ate actual cows, goodness."
Swamp Island
"Wait, what? Opera? You really think so?
And I thought cats were carnivores. What do you normally eat?" she asks Omiko. Though she's one to talk, as minotaurs are omnivores.
"It's just our best guess."
Omiko shrugs.
"I don't have to eat anymore. Just ate space-food back when I did. You know, nutrient shakes in a tube."
Swamp Island
"Oh, that sounds awful. Well if you ever want to eat I can see if I can whip you up something. And thanks for the complement." she adds. They should be arriving at their destination shortly.
"Perhaps I'll take you up on that."
And there's the ocean blue, on the sight of which Omiko dives along and flops out on the beach.
Swamp Island
Clara is quick to flop down next to her.
"So, what's the plan. Take a break, head out in a while? I don't know if I can take another turn at the sails right at this moment." she admits.
"Plan?"
Omiko chuckles and flicks her tail back and forth lazily.
"Don't have one, don't need one. Now, if our ship was seen near here, we should probably get after them right away. But I'm tired. We'll catch up eventually."
Swamp Island
"Sounds good. Can you magic us up a tent or something to sleep in if we're taking a break? I don't think I'll be happy tomorrow if I sleep all night getting sand in my...fur." she says, frowning at the last word.
"The boat is there, right?"
Omiko doesn't make any move or indication that she's going to do that. Not that she could really magic up a tent.
Swamp Island
"Well, I guess. If you could make clothes though you can at least make some pillows, right? That boat was kind of...hard. Wood and all."
She could use her clothes as a pillow but that would be pretty embarrassing for her since Omiko admitted to thinking she's cute.
"That fluffy consistency is actually pretty difficult."
Omiko sighs and rolls over, sits up, and hops into the boat. There she lays out layer upon layer of thin silky blankets. They could probably be bundled up and not be the worst pillow, or preserve some modesty if you were without clothes.
She raises her eyebrow.
"Well?"
Swamp Island
"Thank you, Omiko. At least I won't have to sleep in this suit now. It'll stink if I live in it for days straight. Though it probably will anyway now that I naturally smell like a barn." she grumbles. She really doesn't, though Omiko doesn't have to tell her that.
Clara will do her best to change out of the wetsuit without Omiko getting a full view of her and sleep under the sheets.
Omiko doesn't tell Clara how easy it is for her to see through normally opaque objects. It wouldn't help anyone.
"I think the smell of a barn mostly comes from the hay."
Instead she flops down in front of the mast and goes to sleep.
In the morning, the sky is covered over with clouds, and everything is a little less warm and tropical-feeling.
Swamp Island
Clara will awaken, a hand on the side of her head.
"Ugh, I never thought it would be such a pain to be fuzzy in a hot place. At least the clouds are out. I don't suppose the next island might have a shower? I feel kind of gross." she groans, sitting up.
"There's plenty of sand to wash up with."
Omiko flips straight from lying prone to standing up, and starts getting herself and the boat ready.
Swamp Island
"That's a thing rhinos and elephants do. And I'm not either one of those." she insists, attempting to get herself back into her wetsuit. "This thing feels really weird now that I'm like this." she huffs.
"That's what people do when they don't have clean water for washing." Omiko scoffs.
"Get dressed quick though, I want to get back on the seas."
Swamp Island
Clara gumbles and gets dressed and armed and will leave the boat so Omiko can toss it back into the sea. She does notice the rapier still fits her hand.
"All set, Captain." she says flatly.
