I guess I'm about 10 stone. At nearly 6 feet.

14. Britlanders measure their weight in stone and pounds, so a 147-pound person is 10st7lb, for example.
Incidentally, it is in fact more unhealthy to be underweight than overweight, so I would rather be overweight than underweight. Metabolism and build count for a lot as well.
I would much rather be an honest-and-thus-polite person than a disgracefully compulsive liar. To be genuine is admirable; to be false is not. How is it a good thing to peddle deceptions? There are white lies, yes, but real white lies do not occur very often. Be true to yourself and to others - life is much easier that way.

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
So, right now I'd be about 130 pounds? With my summer weight.
I was around 120 pounds while at Uni.
Six foot, for the reference.

I'm unable to find any. He's totally useless. Anything he can do, someone else can do much better and the other options are generally more likeable.
And also don't upset the suspension and steering in small cars.

Why is she dating him? Or is it another of those damn Ultimate Questions.

He makes her happy. Or, more likely, she's been going out with him for 4-5 years and feels comfortable / unwilling to try and get a new guy.
We tried to have the talk with her, but to no avail.
Being totally honest is as devastating as being a fantastic liar. A balance of the two is the ideal situation.

Possibly - I'm up for it. *checks term times* I'll be there from the 26th September to the 17th of December. I'll be pretty close to where you live actually, since I'm going to the Cornwall Campus (near Falmouth).

English is lovely though. Taught myself to read. Then I became a terror worse than a Lovecraftian monster. Shame really.
Wow... you must be the first other person I've spoken to who taught themselves to read. I thought I was the only one!
I'm not so strange after all, then. :smallwink:

My present scale displays stones and kilograms. To say that it's not intuitive to an American is an understatement, and doubly so when I can't seem to get the same figure in pounds when converting the separate readings. Why is a 14-step division (the stone) divided into tens?! That's useless even if you do think in stones-and-pounds.

That teen drama! *simon amstell style smiling sigh* Now why isn't there a better way to put that. There should be!
Also: to Britlingers: have any of you watched Simon Amstell's new series? It's called Grandma's house. It's pretty good!

Teen love? What is this malarkey?

It's not even drama. Everyone just hates him. Family, freinds, strangers who've just met him...

Drama. DRAMA! The concept of wuv confuses and infuriates me. So I call it drama instead so then the bad words go away.
He sounds like a helluva guy!

No such thing as teen love. Plenty of drama though, yes.

He's on my Hate List. Wuv always causes drama and confusions.
I semi-taught myself to read, but both my parents were keenly literate so they certainly helped.

Kinda don't understand how people need to teach themselves to read. Maybe I was just lucky with being read bedtime stories.
@^ It's the same with the Terracotta Warriors. It always seems to surprise people though!

It's not a need, it's a lack of need! Independent literacy FTW.

No, but I was already being taught, so there was no need for independent learning at all.

Hells yeah. Admittedly my paediatrician thought I might have brain problems because I didn't speak for ages and was generally a pretty sickly baby to begin with. So maybe everyone does develop the english language from scratch as a child and I'm just dumb.

Yeah, my first reaction, too. But being a miniatures painter, I can't help noticing something else: the paint schemes don't look like final paint schemes at all, they look like undercoats.
Normally, when painting figures, you spray on a basecoat, and then paint solid (and often garish) colors as an undercoat. Then, you add blends, washes, and highlights to create the final look.
I am dubious that those images are actually all that accurate. All they reflect is the very first layer of paint; anything on top of that (like detail) is no longer detectable.

Why is everyone complaining about A-Level reuslts!? I'd like to see these fat middle-agers who got paid to do uni and sat much eaiser A-levels get an A*.
The statues do look a bit tacky, unfortunately.

Yay, Kräftskiva! (Literaly translated, that would be "Crayfish Party".)
Basically, Kräftskiva is a gathering where people sit around the table under silly paper lamps, wearing silly paper hats, drinking dram and eating crayfish. Our table was really freaking long, as the whole street was invited (only ~30 houses, and not everybody came, but nevertheless), but we suffered from a staggering defficiency of silly paper lamps, as they were all smashed last year by meddlesome kids.
So, I don't like crayfish, and I'm not really that much into alcohol, so I mostly just consumed baguette and low-alcohol (read: almost none) Cider. Still pretty nice, though. A lot of time for relaxed socializing.
ION: Little brother has been watching Star Wars Holiday Special during the afternoon (littlest brother was watching most of the time too), and I'm afraid that he'll be traumatized for the rest of his life. Even though I was sitting next to him during the first half, I think I'll survive without any lasting injury, thanks to my headphones.

Re: Masa's Massively Masterful Message Medium - Random Banter #146
It's a yearly ritual. Usually, "More People Got Better Results - The Exams Are Getting Easier"
This is ignoring the fact that the curriculum has gone through huge amounts of changes, and when some of the people commenting were at school results were calculated differently (X% got As, X% Bs, etc) so the comparison is meaningless.
And if results DON'T go up - "Schools Are Failing To Improve!"
The things you learn when your mum is a teacher and reads the Times Educational Supplement.

Huh, I just noticed, I think pretty much every character from the main cast of Spin City has been on Scrubs somehow sometime. Some of them even more then one episode.

This is awesome.
In 720, it qualifies for Best Thing Ever.

Because they do something similar there. :smallconfused:
