Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
On the whole I imagine the question is moot as he's shown himself very much as an antagonist, albeit, a chatty one.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
So, that Coyote. Doing morally questionable deeds? Breaking Ysengrin's mind like a twig?
Who cares about that. MORT FUN TIME!

Oh, my poor metaphorical neck.

Mort confuses me, come to think of it.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!

That and a very exploitable set of panels for avatar making.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Also "It's like in Bambi" and "It's like being stabbed with a plastic fork in the eye" could be thread titles... Sorta.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
I think he's saying Mort Fun Time!!! is a good thread title...
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
I don't know, "Gunnerkrigg Court 4: It's like in Bambi" has a nice ring to it. :smalltongue:

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
It does. Too bad its only page 16.
Its like in Dr:Mcninja. LOTS of great thread name ideas, but the comments move so slow because DrMcNinja is a simple awesome comic.

I know, and that was what I was saying in the post he quoted as well. I'm just saying that there are also a couple of alternates.
On another note... What stone? There's none in the picture. Will it be something new about the blinker stone? Aftereffects of that massive flash? Ysengrin managed to hit it? Or some other stone we haven't heard about yet?

Probably this. Gunnerkrigg rarely has related chapters back-to-back; the direct results of Annie's latest trip to the Forest probably won't come up for another two chapters or so.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Maybe its the stone the sword came in given that we are in a Britian with magical and mythological ties.

Even the Dominic Deegan threads generate a large number of good thread names well before their end.

Worst. Prediction. EVAR!

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Annie's finally being direct about this. About time. But I thought Ysengrin had already told her what Jones was...
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Pshaw! What does Ysengrin know? Jones is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. And then some.
Something tells me Annie won't be getting a complete and straight answer to her question. :smallamused:

Or tried to, anyway.

Yes, well. In this instance I am perfectly ok with being wrong.

Jones might also just go "Oh, you finally found enough spine to ask. Good. Here's my story."

I hope this one isn't wrong.

I hope it is. It would not be Gunnerkrigg if any of the big questions got straightforward explanation. The best we can hope for is that there are less than 3 new mysteries for any one that is sorta kinda covered.
And, really, isn't Jones better off remaining someone with no explanation?

Rephrase:
I hope Jones explains. I do not hope that the explanation makes sense to us.
It might make sense to Annie, though, because of Ysengrin trying to explain earlier, which means she has a bit more to work with.
Anyway, the arc starts out with this. Jones is obviously going to do SOMETHING vaguely related to explaining (though admittedly it might be a fetch quest for another blinker stone or something).

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Annie's question is kind of rude.
You can't just barge into an office of your teacher and ask a question that Jones obviously keeps hidden.
Jones will answer SOMETHING, and it might even be a useful piece of information, but I doubt it's what Annie just asked.

But DOES she keep it hidden, though? Anja, Donald, Eglamore, I believe they all know what she is; ditto for the Court (they're not going to give a lot of power and authority to just anyone). The only time before this Annie asked Jones directly what she was, was while spider-controlled Jack was going after Zimmy and as Jones noted, it was not the time or place to discuss such matters. Now she's asked again, this time at a more appropriate time and place. Assuming Jones doesn't have something else she has to do, I imagine Annie will get an answer.
Maybe even an understandable one.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
So it's not that she hides it so much as she doesn't volunteer the info? That makes a lot of sense. Why has this not been suggested before?
EDIT: Parley knows something about it too.
