I didn't actually read it, because it's about a place I don't really care about, in a world I don't really care about, filled with people I don't really care about, and Exalted that I barely care about.
But the name makes me think of me. And that's the best gift someone can give. So, 10/10 :smallcool:.

Re: General Exalted Discussion VI: Ascendancy Mantle of the Playground
I want to stat up Mumm-Ra as a Deathlord.
Anyone willing to help?

Re: General Exalted Discussion VI: Ascendancy Mantle of the Playground
For Mr Tree, if you really want to push soak, consider Opalescent Gossamer Raiment and Blade Turning Skin, for an extra (Essence + 3) L / B soak, and (Essence) Aggravated soak. Only costs 3 points (or 2 without Aggravated Soak).
To wrangle a few extra points of Soak, take Giant as a mutation for yourself, via Fantastic Grotesquerie Shell, and thus grant your pet twice the benefits of Giant... Add in Glorious Hero Form for yourself, if you must.
Then get some custom made combined perfect gossamer full plate / fine Form Chitin, for 0 Mobility / Fatigue, and +20 / +20 armor soak on top (or more). Or just +13/+13 with perfect gossamer full plate and minimal system abuse.
If your Essence is high enough (i.e. 2+), Assumption of Bestial Form lets you give your behemoth 2+ mutation points (NOT Mutation-keyword charms) for 1 point worth of mutations.
So Assumption of Lizard Form and Essence 3 lets you use 1 point to grant Dragon Thick Skin and a Tail, meaning you have 2 points you can use for something else... Glorious Hero Form, perhaps? Or two copies of Surpassing Excellence, to be very accurate when spitting fire and when engaging in melee?
If you want to seriously upgrade Mr Tree's Jade Goremaul accuracy (because damage is superfluous), Armament of Flesh gives +(Essence) bonuses, up to +4 can go into Accuracy. Add Surpassing Excellence, and at Essence 3 you're looking a +5 dice - which stack with everything you've got.

wow, thanks. I'd give you some advice on something in return, but I can't think of any.

Re: General Exalted Discussion VI: Ascendancy Mantle of the Playground
My fellow Playgrounders. Play this game and you will understand.
Please forgive the advertizements, though. You may want to mute your speakers until the game actually comes up.

While I'm certain First Age Solars exploited the raksha in such a manner, I have no idea what this is about.

Re: General Exalted Discussion VI: Ascendancy Mantle of the Playground
As far as I can tell, there's literally no plot to this game; what is it we're supposed to understand?

Re: General Exalted Discussion VI: Ascendancy Mantle of the Playground
I have no idea...
Euphemism for playing a Raksha?

Possibly a Hannya in the wild (with the red things being Raksha strong enough to fight back)?

Nevermind. It'd take too long to explain and if I had to explain it, it would be neither funny nor enlightening. Sorry, all.

Do individual animals have gods, or do their souls count for that?

Everything has a god, except Sorcery.

I don't recall if the canon says anything specific about it, but I don't think each animal has an individual god. :smallconfused:

Well, every object and concept, anyway. There's a god of cattle, but I doubt there's a god of "Bossy the Holstein."

I know there would be say a god of pigs somewhere, but does Farmer Johnson's pig #3 have it's own god?

There are a multitude of "tiny gods" or "small gods" or whatever you want to call them, that are basically insensate god-mannequins that serve as the gods of insignificantly small things. So, each plank of wood in a house has a small god, which collectively operate under the small god of the house itself, which are subservient to the actual "walk around and do stuff"-god, the City God. A big enough city might have 'real' gods (with stats and such) for individual neighborhoods, even.
Given this, I would say it's not a stretch to think every pig has a small god associated with it, that confers metaphysical ownership and makes sure the pig operates by the laws of physics like it should, etc, etc. But not a thinking, feeling, talking god. You'd need to talk to the god of the farming region for that, or the god of pigs, or whatever.

Re: General Exalted Discussion VI: Ascendancy Mantle of the Playground
wait....does that mean that each persons finger has a little god, and their brain has a god and such?
or is a human's soul the god of their own body?
stuff like this is confusing.
-
Re: General Exalted Discussion VI: Ascendancy Mantle of the Playground
Not a little god. Little gods are, I believe, gods that are self aware, but below essence...6? Something. Lytek is a little god, for example.
These gods would be least gods. Not truly self aware, or able to do things outside of a few thaumatugical rituals.
As for the body...I'm not sure about that. I think it wouldn't, unless it was separated from one's body.

Just apply a bit of logic. Clearly, the answer to all of those is 'no'. A body has a god, because it is a living organism. A soul is a soul, not a god. Actually, beings with souls might be excepted. But probably not.
-
Re: General Exalted Discussion VI: Ascendancy Mantle of the Playground
So....ever person might have their own god? I wonder how that would go if people found that out...
"God of me! I pray to you to give me an idea!"
that probably wouldn't work though, but it would be cool if it did.
edit: now I have an idea for a Solar who believes his power comes from him praying to the god of himself, so every time he uses a charm he prays for the god of himself to help fix his problem.

Wait, what? How is one of the most well known gods to the celestials outside the Incanae barely self aware and weak?
Edit: ok, let's clear some things up. Gods in the Exalted setting are split into two main groups. Celestial gods who reside in heaven an terrestrial ones bound to Creation and rarely enter Yu-Shan.
The terrestrial gods have a subsection, these are the little gods. They are the spirits of inanimate objects. There are no gods of individual people, that is what the two souls are for.
Lytek is a class 4 god. To put this in perspective, Sol is a class 1 god. He is the only being besides the exalt's patron to alter the shards. And he knows the charms of every exalted shard he has worked on.

I'm pretty sure it's essence 2 or 3 that's the limit. It says (in the core book, I think) that least gods are the lowest types of terrestrial gods. Lytek definitely has a personality and sentience.

Re: General Exalted Discussion VI: Ascendancy Mantle of the Playground
re Gods of People: A god's role, especially a least god's, is to make sure that something functions according to the designs of Fate. Humans, while highly influenced by Fate, appear to have free will, especially Exalts. For this reason, I believe that they do not have least gods. In addition, humans have lower souls (po) which remain with the body. Of course, on the other hand, it's clear that a hungry ghost is NOT able to animate its body, which suggests that perhaps po souls are not able to move the body. Or perhaps it just means that they can't make a dead body be alive, which makes sense.
I'm for the idea that a soul functions as an ensouled being's "god". It makes the most sense to me. I can't really bring more evidence to bear than I have, so I'm not going to try to convince anyone else. Just putting forth my two cents.
