That's good news, and it looks like it's coming out for the PS3, which is good, so I don't have to buy another console.

Re: The "Tales of" Series
I'm very surprised we got a localization announced at the same time as the initial game reveal this time. Must mean the series' fortunes overseas are improving, which is great to know.
As for being PS3 instead of next-gen, eh, I'd be fine with either. By the time we get it I'm sure I'll have a PS4 anyway, given they're saying it will be the series' 20th-anniversary game, which means we can expect it to release in 2015 in Japan, which could mean it won't be until 2016 here.

Re: The "Tales of" Series
Zestiria sounds like a cross between Xillia and Vesperia. Hmm.
Maybe it's a zesty kind of game?
-
Re: The "Tales of" Series
I don't understand you guys; They've been all but screaming "The next big Tales game will be on PS3!!!!" for months. There's nothing surprising about that.
Simultaneous worldwide release is interesting though, too bad it's in 2015. :P

Re: The "Tales of" Series
Did they say it would get a simultaneous release, or just that it was being localized? I haven't really been following Tales news, lately. I didn't know they said the next one would be on PS3.

Localized. I would not recommend holding your breath for a simultaneous release.

I didn't think it did, was just going off of what Airk said. Although it happened for Pokemon, so maybe some day.

Frankly I'm surprised it took as long as it did with Pokèmon. But there's a rather huge gulf between Pokèmon and Tales, both in terms of international popularity and in terms of how much work must go into the localization (Tales being so much heavier on story than Pokèmon and all).
Hell, if memory serves even Final Fantasy doesn't do simultaneous releases. And if the one JRPG franchise with a genuinely huge international following doesn't, I think we can safely rule it out as a possibility for the genre in general.

Re: The "Tales of" Series
Yeah, sorry, I guess I misinterpreted something I read; Still, the language does seem to suggest we might see it in the same YEAR as Japan.
-
Re: The "Tales of" Series
Once ToZ comes out, I'll be able to have 5 Tales games for the same console. I'm not sure if a single console in the US has ever had that many games.

Just got to the part where Spoiler
Show
Jude reunites with Milla (Jude's side)and I must say I'm quite displeased at how for some reason, my kills keep getting stolen. First Nachtigal, now Jiao! Does my party itself ever get to finish off important enemies? Maybe Jude's dad or something, or Ivar.

Not to disappoint you, but just about every villain dies A. by accident, B. by someone else, C. by their own hand, D. doesn't.

Well, I made it to the final boss. Please tell me I at least get to kill it myself. Spoiler

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but Gaius and Muset are just about one-shotting my party and I'd really like to crush their throats.

What difficulty are you playing on? You could try lowering it, or grinding a bit more.

Re: The "Tales of" Series
Just beat it a couple minutes ago! I was playing on normal. I don't know where I got 7 Omega Elixirs from but they sure helped. I was around level 70 and I ended up just getting some better armor and final boss man still hit pretty freakin' hard. AW YEAH MEDICAL OUTFIT WHAT. Now I'm happy. It's weird though, how Wingul was so easy but after that it was so hard.
Edit: For NG+, should I complete that golden key thing before I start again, or can I just start now and worry about that during the second playthrough?

Is that for the bonus dungeon? If so, it's up to you. I started my second playthrough before worrying about it. You could try to knock out a few more titles if you want more grade for your second playthrough, though.

Meh, I already got to the boss. He's about as bad as Gaius once phase 2 starts.

Re: The "Tales of" Series
I guess ToS Chronicles comes out Feb 25 next year.
I wonder what sort of pre-order bonuses might come with it. I'm osrt of on the fence, but I'll probably end up getting it. Hopefully, it's not to hard to go back to the older gameplay after being spoiled with the newer entries.

Lloyd's actually gotta be my favorite character to play as in Tales. He could deal so much damage in so little time. Kind of reminded me of a Guy/Luke mix.

With how popular Lloyd is, I'm surprised there haven't been more characters who copy his play style.

Well, I got Vesperia yesterday and Yuri seems a lot like him so far, though I'm only like level 10. The whole game kind of reminds me of Symphonia, probably mostly because of the art and camera.

He's got a bit similar playstyle, but not quite as easy as Lloyd is. It seems like even Sword Rain is a rare move in some games, where it seems like every protagonist knows Demon Fang, for example.

Re: The "Tales of" Series
How much grinding do I have to do to be able to beat that wolf dude? Estelle is honestly the worst healer I've ever had to play with. Is she even really a healer? I know she's only got First Aid to work with at level 16, but she seems to just be really bad at everything healing related and otherwise. I wish I had Raine or Tear or Elize or someone instead.
-
Re: The "Tales of" Series
The wolf dude is insane. Someone must have made a typo in his stats, because he's ridiculously hard relative to other bosses you face at that part of the game. I know you're supposed to use the flowers on him, but I've never been able to make those work reliably.

Re: The "Tales of" Series
Around what level does she get Revitalize or Resurrection? I'll probably grow more fond of her when she gets some stronger healing artes. (Or can I get a different healer)
-
Re: The "Tales of" Series
Don't worry, Estelle's healing gets much more powerful soon. The wolf is probably /the/ hardest enemy in that part of the game. Don't worry, just keep at it.

That's not for a while. *looks up* Yeah, that's not until level 29. Luckily, the mass heal comes online earlier. That being said, Estelle really doesn't come into her own as a healer until you start getting Altered Artes. Once you do, though...

Re: The "Tales of" Series
Thankfully outside of boss battles I don't need healing. Karol does a good job when he needs to though. "NICE AID SMASH!" On another note, props to Vesperia for being the only Tales game I've played with a soundtrack I like.

I've liked most of the soundtracks. My wife's a big fan of Legendia's.

Besides bosses (except Xillia) and specific places, it's all sounded really dull and generic. It doesn't help that a lot of tracks were overused too, especially in Abyss for events (minus the Zao Ruins glitch because at least that sounded really good). Somehow their final boss tracks always sound amazing though. I guess they just save all their energy for that.
