Yeah he lost the other one way back, during the sewer fight with Goblinslayer i think. Sucks too cuz he can't turn his sword into a cool cane anymore:smalltongue:

I think you can really See how the New Art style really is more simple, although it is a shame how much of it is carried by the shading.
But...did the guy who before mapped every Drop of blood through several panels individually forget that the floor actually used to consist of irregular stone slabs?
Anyway, I love the therapy.
Also, for some reason, this world seems to be very aversed of spell-casters. I think during the duration of the comic, we've seen two or three? A sorcerer, a cleric, and two clan-truthsayers who didn't really have class levels.
There seem to be plenty of fighters, monks, rangers, etc. around, though. It might be easy for players to shout "wizard!", but for the actual characters itself, it seems to be harder than that.
Which is a shame, because I'm pretty sure Thunt could pull some nice all-out bloody nova spells with lots of intestines and big flashes.
We've actually had quite a few spellcasters. We've had 2.125 clerics, 1.125 sorcerers, two adepts, one psion, 2.125 paladins, 1.125 rangers, and the remnants of high level magic are smeared everywhere. Except for Saves-A-Fox, no protagonist has really broken past level 4 in their class; but among the antagonists, we've had a high level psion with a penchant for splattering everyone, and the paladin's magic has certainly been on the flashy side when in use.
I think there are two separate issues here: whether the setting is high or low magic, and whether our cast of characters is or not.
The setting itself seems to have a fair amount of magic, given the number of wonked out magic items that the low-level characters have been able to get their hands on.
Our specific cast of characters has definitely been spellcaster-light, though. While Kore's IME is completely bananas (and IMEs themselves are really magic-y), his spellcasting itself has been fairly down-to-earth, and as a tertiary spellcaster, he gets things done with martial prowess more so than spell-slinging. Since Chief's death, the GAP has had zero primary or secondary spellcasters. (Fumbles doesn't count.) Dies' Adventuring Party had no spellcasters at all. For D&D, that's a bit peculiar.
There have been primary spellcasters here and there (Y&B, Yodette/Drowbabe, whoever called "Wizard!" in the MAP), and PsiMax is the biggest exception for sure--the guy is a total spell-slinger.
Anyway, I don't detect anything anti-spellcaster about the setting itself--my sense of things is more that Thunt has leaned towards picking martial characters to show us. I'm not sure why, actually, given that most of the cast is too low-level for the spells that cause storytelling problems (resurrection, teleport, etc) to be an issue. Despite cool magic stuff being one of his artistic strengths, maybe Thunt just prefers drawing characters slugging it out.
As an aside, I notice that our cast has been rogue & bard-light as well.
Remember that (primary) Spellcasters are quadratic in nature and at level 1 start out worse off than martial classes. Most of them likely died before reaching a level where they could do much.
the way i see it the world of Goblins is low-magic, but what little magic there is is very powerful as a result. Like imagine a world has a limited ammount of magic it can use, you can spread it everywhere and make everyone have the ability to snap their fingers and make a small flame, or you can do what this world has done, and condence the magic into certain sources only, so while most of the world has little to no magic to work with, those things that do have more magic in them have a LOT more magic in them.
i wouldn't be surprised it Complains' +1 sword turns out to be more then just a +1 sword at some point/
My crazy theory is that the goblins world used to be high magic but the magical creatures and stuff that the high level spells casters made/brought to their world created a high mortality rate that drastically reduced the average life span of adventurers which also resulted in the average level of adventurers being drastically reduced. Thus the people are low-magic but there is still a lot of high magic monsters and objects sticking around.
My theory is that this world is a lot like a D&D world should be. the VAST majority of the world are low level players or npcs without levels at all. You have people like goblinslayer that are mid level and to the rest of the world they are awe inspiring and powerful. Too fellow players they are mid level and shrug worthy because as players our perspective is skewed. Then you have people like Kore. The exceedingly rare high level character (I think speculation was he was at least level 15?) These guys are legendary in the world of D&D. On an entire planet there may only be like 5 of them, not counting players who skew results just by existing.
This also would effect the magic level shown. Our main characters are like, level 4 now right? Most of them havent been in a position to even see high level magic outside of running away from Kore. So thats why we havent seen a lot of it. I wouldnt be surprised if after this current arc the GAP and Minmax hit another level or two and start actively meeting spellcasters and seeing higher level gear instead of unstatted stuff with strange abilities like minmax's armor and sword, or big ears and his axe.
Well, he remembered on the current page now (or someone reminded him). They still aren't drawn on the previous page though. Thaco's injuries aren't showing yet on the current page. Sometimes that's the last fix Tarol does, but it could be that he was healed between pages. :smallconfused:
I'd saying Thunt is finally learning...
New update.
SpoilerEars, you liar!
Im getting Kin flashbacks here. Maybe he will throw the GAP a birthday party next? Heh, the worst thing is, I can totally see him trying that. "It worked for Kin, somehow, so lets try it on the goblins." Meanwhile the GAP are like, "Why is he throwing a birthday party for us? None of our birthdays are today." They have no idea this is minmax trying to reach out to them and accept them as something other than "monsters" so it all kind of falls apart.
Hmm.. since it has been all jokes and fun for e ladt strips, Minmax probably just crushed Kickasso and the next strips are extra dark while he dies in excruciating pain
Minimax smash
And shouldn't that be 0.0909 of each class, anyways? Fumbles took 1/11 of every class at once.
That carry a curse of agonizing undeath for the body of those killed upon them. They are cursed to wander the world screaming in pain from their wounds that never heal. You can tell yourself that the body has no soul, (its been trapped in the spikes) but to see your party member and friend's body screaming in agony as he is forced to continue existing makes it hard to believe.
Guys, if you're going to post such likely spoilers at least use the tags.
Is it just me, or does that staff look like it has a keyless entry car door opener on it?
Looks like Thunt cut some of his fingers, and might have to take a couple of weeks off of drawing. Doesn't sound as bad as the Giant's thumb situation, but still scary. Hope he has a safe & rapid convalescence.
Say what you will about Minmax but he does have one thing going for him. He is very loyal to his friends.
