Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
I REALLY like that one. The head is a bit two-dimensional, but the rest is amazing.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
I have decided that Kamelot is the official band of Magic Sword. Listen or suffer.

I have made some changes to how monster statistics are generated:
Monsters now have 20 hit points, +5 per level. Brutes have 25, +6 per level. Artilleries get 15, +4 per level. Monsters now also gain +1.5 damage per level, rather than +1. The monster math remains otherwise unchanged.
Now that this is established, we should start building the monster section. I have tentatively complied a list of monsters I think should be included. If you think something should be added or taken away, please say so.
- Carrion Crawler (renamed to somthing, for legal reasons)
- Death Knight (also renamed)
- Demon
- Dragon
- Drake
- Dryad
- Dwarf
- Elemental
- Elf
- Ettin
- Gargoyle
- Gelatinous Cube
- Ghoul
- Giant
- Gibbering Mouther
- Gnoll
- Goblin
- Golem
- Gray Jester (wicked happiness-sucking clown fae)
- Grick
- Hag
- Halfling
- Human
- Kobold
- Lich
- Lizardfolk
- Minotaur (no longer a playable race, but something much scarier)
- Mummy
- Nephillim
- Ogre
- Oni/Ogre Mage
- Orc
- Otyugh
- Owlbear
- Purple Worm
- Ravenfolk
- Redcap
- Scarecrow
- Shrooman
- Skeleton
- Spider
- Stirge
- Toadfolk (the bullywug equivalent)
- Tiefling
- Treant (Including a corrupted evil version)
- Troglodyte
- Troll
- Twig Blight (renamed)
- Wight
- Wraith
- Zombie (with lots of variants)
Another thing I wanted to do was have fewer monsters, but have more variants per monster.
...lotta monsters
No! You have to consider Nachtblut for the band!

It is. Do you think its too many? I could trim off a dozen or so of I really needed to ...
I did consider Nachtblut ... but ... Kamelot!

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
I can draw them... it'll be maybe a week or two for each one.
Kamelot seems a little low-key.

It would be cool if you could draw them, but for now, it would be more helpful if you were to submit a playtest character.
Brave Fort Vigil!

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
May I have a list of artists, and what they'll be doing after the Iconic Characters?

You, Chronoplasm, Dark Elf Bard, and Cabo0se. I'm not sure what they are doing after the iconics.

Wasn't Dark Elf gonna do period stuff, I was gonna do powers and monsters, etc. Are you sure?:smallconfused:
Also, what about Wombat of Doom?

I haven't seen Wombat in a while. If he comes back, he is welcome to be part of the team.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
I think the base rules for ongoing damage should be changed to this:
Same Type of Ongoing Damage: Existing ongoing damage is increased by subsequent instances of ongoing damage of the same type (including untyped ongoing damage).
Example: If a creature is taking ongoing 5 damage (which has no type) when a power causes it to take ongoing 10 damage, the creature is now taking ongoing 15 damage (10 + 5).

I had been using that as a houserule for years. Consider it included.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
I had an idea. How about, later, doing some kind of Broadcasted Playtest, over youtube. Like a fevered cross between a let's play and a playtest. It would build team loyalty and create positive publicity. Also, do you have any cool name for our fledgeling company? :smallconfused:
(Overusing the confused button)

The YouTube thing is a good idea.
For the company, I have a few ideas:
- Analog Games
- Clockwork Games
- Demon Idol Games
- Jewelled Eye Games

Err... I'm not sure. This might lead to stacking hell (see twin strike and stunned condition)

I agree. As a former munchkin, I would be abusing that rule like all hell. Just my opinion.
(Also, how's Indiegogo going?)

I never got a responce as to what I should be doing...so I just lurked. At the moment I'm a bit bogged down with some RL art commissions at the moment. However, is there anything you need professionally colored that you have line art for, or maps that need to be done, or something of these natures?

Personally, I don't see what the problem is; it's not unlike stacking simple damage; ongoing is simply a recurring form.
From a PC perspective, how many will get to stack ongoing damage reliably anyways, even if you felt this was an issue?

I'm glad to see you back! Could you draw and colour a Shrooman?

That's neither of the options I offered with my current work load...but what's a Shrooman again?

A vaguely humanoid fungus monster. See the Myconid in the 4e MM2 for inspiration.

So, are we going to have monsters that would previously be considered Good?

Dryads, which can now be any alignment.
Also, I'm entirely open to adding or removing monsters from the list. If you have anything you would like to change, please tell me.

Re: Magic Sword: Fourth Edition Reborn
I think that there should be some more "good" monsters. Also, may I suggest the sheer awesomeness of the Hangman Golem? A golem made of bloody ropes that slides across the ground as an assassin. Or how about an intelligent Animated Object? Or perhaps a psychic enemy who flings trash around to attack, or builds himself a suit of armor made of rock? Telekinesis is woefully under appreciated.
