No more than the limosine appeared when Roy was rezzed.

Presumably the guard Haley knocked out and the 3 guards hit by V's spell were executed for their failure.

Re: Things You Never Noticed VI: The Undiscovered Detail
Pulling a "you have failed me" specifically to meet an aesthetic goal does sound extremely Tarquin.

Tsukiko's slippers are the same colors as her eyes.

Re: Things You Never Noticed VI: The Undiscovered Detail
Belkar's alibi for the dinosaur escape is that he was "taking the biggest dump since Elan assigned his Intelligence score". I always thought this was an unlikely excuse since Belkar had been living on prison food.
Then I remembered that Belkar was actually sitting at the head of the table as far as prison food goes. In fact he had never eaten so much bread in his life.
Ironically today I walked into a houseblock office to find the prison officers discussing how one of the prisoners had managed to block his toilet.

Re: Things You Never Noticed VI: The Undiscovered Detail
Spoiler: Start of Darkness
Show
Eugene is finally ready to fulfill his blood oath against... Zyklon the Consequential!
And then
Tarquin calls that sub-boss that Elan is so worried about Zyklon.

Re: Things You Never Noticed VI: The Undiscovered Detail
You can see Hilgya at the seventh panel with a cart of gold. It took me three times looking at the page to notice it.

The hordling was Xyklon. X, not Z.

Dang it, memory. That's what I get for not checking before posting.

On the other hand, Caerulea...
Spoiler: Start of Darkness
Show
Rich may have made the name similar but not identical, as just a few panels before, Tarquin essentially describes the montage in On the Origin of PCs, only flipped in who's rejecting whom.
Or heck, maybe Rich made the same mistake you did!

I choose to believe that's what happened.

Re: Things You Never Noticed VI: The Undiscovered Detail
In 436, the arrow at the beginning that bounces off the Zombie Tragon and V's protection from Arrows spell isn't just a random arrow, but the poison one the guy Belkar killed tried to use against Hinjo. If you look carefully it was fired in the previous strip as Belkar was knocking him down. I had previously assumed it was just never fired.

It narrowly misses a lot of the people that were in Belkar list of killable people that the Oracle predicted he would kill. It was a really big tease at the time (or if its your first read through and you catch onto it).

Nice, I had never noticed it had anything to do with the prophecy,

Re: Things You Never Noticed VI: The Undiscovered Detail
You know, taking a fiftieth look at the last panel of 1149, that's a sneaky commentary/author-self-insert with Hilgya's comment, Mr. Burlew...
-
Re: Things You Never Noticed VI: The Undiscovered Detail
In 938, Julio states he 'needs a wardrobe change'. Next we see him, in 943, he indeed changed pants and shirt.

"I'm Rich now..." LOL
On the other hand, I've just now noticed this "footshadowing".

I don't get it. What is being foreshadowed, or even footshadowed? In either comic?

Re: Things You Never Noticed VI: The Undiscovered Detail
Haley's boots of speed. It's more of a Chekov's gun if you want to get technical, though.

If you mention the boots of speed on the third page, you must have them referenced hundreds of strips later and finally used for a minor boss character hundreds of pages even later.
It's the oldest trope in the book.

Re: Things You Never Noticed VI: The Undiscovered Detail
The boots' later return is a callback to that old strip, not the other way around.

A callback to a foreshadowing... OMG! We have an infinite loop of references

Re: Things You Never Noticed VI: The Undiscovered Detail
Oh and to add to the footwear thing. What is young Haley wearing here?
She has owned the fore ages and not used them due to a petty squabble with another girl. And the basis of their mutual hatred. Fashion.
