Re: Goblins XVII: The shocking end of the story arc
I went with time travel, but so far I only manage a rate of 1:1.

Re: Goblins XVII: The shocking end of the story arc
new page up.
And that is a cool effect.

Re: Goblins XVII: The shocking end of the story arc
ouch, looks like Thaco is going to be walking away with a few broken ribs from all this.
-
Re: Goblins XVII: The shocking end of the story arc
Can he see through that? It would be very like Fumbles to blind himself with his own magic item.

Dont worry, he is something like 3/13ths monk. Its not blindsight, but he can see things blurry. Like 20/300 vision :p

Re: Goblins XVII: The shocking end of the story arc
So.... bets on what happens when Fumbles's staff hits Kore? All those bound souls will be freed, asuming Kore's body is what binding them...

It didnt seem to work on the goblin souls the ritual called up. Im not saying it wont happen, im just saying I wont be surprised if it doesnt.

Does it work on mundane bindings? Because then Kore's armour could fall off him completely.

Re: Goblins XVII: The shocking end of the story arc
I'm wondering what Big Ears is up to. Is he still trying to cram the magic helm around his head?

Magical bindings only from the looks of things

Certainly, but it seems like a strange time to bring that plot hook to bear. They already have a magic item in this room that serves well the function of 'holding and binding something' -- the golem. It would be possible for them to pull a 'I may not be able to use the helm, but I can still grab and hold you' moment, but it would mean that this 'the helm won't fit' moment was important enough to warrant expending a second introduced plot hook/firing a second Chekovian gun/etc.

I'm not talking about using it on Kore.
Think about why he can't wear the helmet...

Yikes! That sounds painful. Also, I don't think it would work. But who knows.
But I'm beginning to suspect this will be Senior Vorpal Kickass'O's time to shine. Maybe all those ancestor spirits he's harboring decided to get a little payback on Kore for what he's done.
Edit:
In fact, it just occurred to me that Fumbles has multi-classed into every class. He's also got about a dozen spirits in him. I wonder how that is going to work out? Is he going to be the ultimate gestalt character? Is he now level three in all classes?
-
Re: Goblins XVII: The shocking end of the story arc
he's not even a full level in every class is the problem. last i checked he was around 2/11ths of 11 classes. so maybe 3/11ths of each class now?
either way, he'll only have a full first level in every class at 11th level :P
-
Re: Goblins XVII: The shocking end of the story arc
Okay, but say each of the (presumably) 11 spirits within him take on one of his classes. He'll then be properly level 2 in everything. Which would likely cause some drama among the Bard//Barbarian, Monk//Paladin, and Druid parts of him, to say the least.
-
Re: Goblins XVII: The shocking end of the story arc
only canon guess as to how many he took on was Complains with Fifteen so... hard to say. if what you're saying is true, then maybe multiple of them took cleric levels just because that's what they're supposed to do :P
-
Re: Goblins XVII: The shocking end of the story arc
They’re ancient goblins. None of them took any class level.
-
Re: Goblins XVII: The shocking end of the story arc
I guess my hypothesis is that Fumbles, by tagging himself as all classes, unknowingly created a mental construct that allows him to channel these spirits safely.

Heh. It would be amusing watching the other goblins' reactions to Fumbles developing multiple and often conflicting personalities.

True. But, maybe they're ancient goblins who might have been twiddling their thumbs and watching the world happen. Maybe they're ready to try something different.
-
Re: Goblins XVII: The shocking end of the story arc
i think we're more assuming that the spirits latched onto the fragments of Fumble's class levels, not that the spirits had any class levels themselves.
come to think of it, even if that's not at all what happened, the fact that Fumbles is 2nd/3rd level might just explain how he survived. As far as we know, no other goblin had class levels when they did the ritual, so just by having multiple levels, Fumbles is inherently tougher then normal.
the other goblins probably morso, but this fits Fumbles' arc better.

To be honest, I wish that this had been the explanation given by the comic itself.

Great point, indeed previous goblin priest candidates would've been extra squishy both physically and mentally.

I like how this really captures that Fumbles isn't an idiot. He showed that somewhat during his 'fake out' when he proved himself able to be a Teller.
Also, just really awesome.
Though I feel like he should throw out some Mass Cure Light Wounds or something or a combat spell now that he's distracted Kore. But I get how that would be a discredit to the narrative flow of today's comic.

I figured that the Staff did something, even though it didn't work as intended. Or Minmax's intervention somehow helped him survive.
Or, like some of the other "PCs", he's just extremely lucky at getting overpowered abilities to compensate for the terrible circumstances they find themselves in.

He didn't say a spell name, but the next-to-last panel is him doing some kind of mass healing, bringing both Thaco and Names to positive hp at the same time.

looks like Channel Positive Energy, did Elli mention changing to Pathfinder at some point?
also, is that a mobile phone sticking in Complains in the center panel?

The fact that he is yelling from offscreen and the helmet wouldnt fit before fills me with foreboding.
