Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
Is the Phaorah already finished and available for subscribers? The Dropbox document isn't finished, but I have heard mentions of it being finished.

All I want to do is spoderman as much as possible.

No, it's undergoing significant rewrites with the help of the PoW team, but not until after the main Akashic book is done.

Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
Is Veil Lord going to get Empty Pyramid, and if so, is it going to be delayed to PoW3 or Akashic Mysteries 2?

Veil Lord? I haven't heard of this yet. Is it some Akashic/Initiator PrC? I want more support for combining the subsystems than just the Pharaoh.

It's the Warlord archetype.

Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
Look what I found! I'm assuming this means that it'll be available on Paizo soon as well, and subscribers should be getting their update e-mails.
On another note, I'm uncertain whether Veil Lord will be getting Empty Pyramid stock, but the new Empty Pyramid will be much easier for initiators to swap into.

Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
The Daevic PDF refers to the Vizier in the bookmarks and several times in the class text.

I'm looking into this now.
***EDIT***
I've found it in two places other than the bookmarks, underneath the Class Features heading and the Class Skills heading. I'm submitting those errors to Jeremy to correct, but please let me know ASAP if this error appears anywhere else so we can get it all corrected in one swoop. Thank you for the catch!

Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
So it seems I'm quite a bit late to the party, but I just read through the Vizer and skimmed some of the other documents, and I must say this system seems very interesting and well put together. I'll look through the rest later, but if it's all around the quality of the Vizer it's very likely I'll wind up buying the book/pdf when it comes out.

As the author my opinion may be somewhat biased, but I'd like to think that everything is at least of the same quality as the vizier
I actually just submitted a very extensive art order for the Supplemental and final compiled releases, and I'm very hopeful that our awesome art connections can produce some art that's just as awesome as the characters and mechanics we've seen and shared so far.

Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
Loyal Paladin's Spear of Light sounds like it's a weapon. Are 80d6 spears with 50ft reach intended?
-
Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
Would you care to elaborate?
-
Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
Armory of the Conqueror for damage. Reach is native, though I misread it, it's "only" 25-30ft.
-
Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
Additional damage should be bonus damage, not base damage, so not multiplied by AotC.
-
Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
Nyaa, piece of advice. When posting things like this, spell everything out. List all relevant veils/abilities, and the essence invested. It's helpful to be able to instantly see what you are working with and where, which can help see if there is a disconnect.
If you're posting from phone, that's one thing, and then I request that you mention it so that we don't hound you about it. I understand the pains of phone posting. Like right now.

This. Also, 25-30 foot reach, at the level you can get it, isn't a big deal. Off the top of my head, that's achievable by both the Bloodrager and the Medium from Paizo's classes (Mark Seifter actually built a Medium with 30 foot reach for one of our games, so that's RAW and RAI), and I'm sure there's multiple other ways to do it.
I've tweaked the wording on the veil in a few places; it's no longer a touch attack, but the user may use their veilweaver level in place of their BAB, just like the hand cannons. Instead of the Weapon Finesse note, it's instead just treated as a light weapon with all that implies (which includes weapon finesse compatibility). These changes will be reflected when I do the next update.

Also, the FAQ's damage die progression caps at 16d6, so I don't even now if it's possible to go past that.

In addition, I noticed that the class table is missing the veilweaving progression that the Vizier and Guru have, instead having it as a separate table. Is there a reason for this?
Wrathful Claws veil has "Slot: Hans" instead of hands.
On another note, something that never really occurred to me until now - is there a reason to include "Descriptors - none" for veils with no descriptor? It's not a problem or anything, just something I suddenly found myself wondering.

I think the Daevic's "X+Y" veilweaving made the margins just a teeny bit too narrow to combine the tables like on the other two, so it got dropped into its own table.
Thanks for the note on Wrathful Claws.
The "Descriptors - None" entry is there, primarily, so that it's clear that there aren't any descriptors that need to be taken into account, and for consistency. Occasionally there should be a descriptor, and the "None" entry also makes it easier for playtesters and customers to notice if it's missing as well; for example, the Immovable Boots veil was a "Descriptor - None" veil until it was brought up in this thread that it really should have the [Earth] descriptor, and it will now be updated accordingly.

Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
So, tonight in my Third Party Thursdays event at the local game store, one of our players had Monster, a half-gnoll Mysterial Monk. Monster's prolific use of Lashing Spinnerets led me to the realization/belief that the flat DC 15 acrobatics check for the web swinging movement to avoid AoOs is probably way too low. I don't want a bunch of rolls slowing down the table though, so I'm thinking of changing it to 15 + 2 per opponent adjacent to the start and destination points. Thoughts?

Since you're avoiding AoOs, it's probably better to make it 15 + 2 per opponent threatening the start and the finish, with enemies threatening both only counting once.
And I agree that the 15 was probably too low.

Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
Doesn't that just reset it to how Tumble worked in 3.5? Which is is generally agreed was way too easy?

This is a good point. You can use default Acrobatics rules, with perhaps a bonus somewhere, and it will work cleaner

Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
You want a fair sized bonus, given CMD scaling.

Or a moderate Circumstance one, since you can get a good chunk of Insight from the Stalker's Tabi

Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
Will we be getting any traits? A veilweaver level +2 up to HD trait would be nice, matching the same for caster level, manifester level, and initiator level.
-
Re: Dreamscarred Press Presents: Akashic Mysteries, Thread 2
What I would do would be use the highest CMD of any creature threatening the takeoff or landing space, with a check bonus to the ability so that it scales well into late game.
Alternatively to just using the highest, have them roll once and compare that number to all the threatening creatures.

Adding my voice to those who want a check bonus. Maybe +2 per essence to the Acrobatics check to avoid AoOs while swinging around?

I think it's going to be one of these two options. I want the swing to require 1 acrobatics check, not bog down the table with a dozen rolls. Efficient but balanced is kind of the goal here, especially given that this is one if the "wordier" veils already.
