Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
She tried calling out to them a few times but only silence greeted her instead.
"That's odd." She mumbled quietly to herself.
Lune shrugged as she gazed over the nonexistant flying fish filled waters. Resisting the urge to let her fins out and swim, she walked over to the chest and opened it.

The Prince was sitting again on his couch, his cream-and-gold feathered wings lifted to go over the back, his lion-like tail curled by his side, his talon-hands politely clasped above the knees of his cloven-hoofed legs.
His creamy fur and curly hair were catching the light from the windows -- as were his little dark horns. Then we have the goat ears and the slightly odd nose, and I think we're in the descriptive clear!
"Miss Hani, may I present your employer, his royal highness Prince Leon of Oshia?"
"Ah, so you're Ante's little sister. It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm very glad you asked your radiant sun of a sister to join us."
Leon said with a non-confrontational smile. He resisted the urge to recoil back in case she hit him with the bear.
"Um, h-hi," Hani greeted timidly.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
"Ah, she's um, very soft-spoken, Leon. Master, I mean master. You will have to forgive her."
Ante lowers her face too, inwardly cursing herself by using his name so familiarly.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Leon...Only seemed amused by the familiarity. Terran nodded behind them to back up her statement.
"Understandable -- this is probably a lot of fuss. It's just the two of you, then? I admit, I'm not sure how comfortable I am with asking a child to work for me..."
He admitted, his brows furrowing with concern, even as he kept up the friendly smile. Smile, and the world smiled back.

Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Of course, that only works if the news you're bringing is good news.
And the thought of Hani not being able to live in the palace struck fear into Ante's heart.
"She may be a little timid, but I assure you she will work hard, Leo- M-milord! I promise you she will! Won't you Hani?"
she gently squeezes at her sister's hand, trying to encourage her.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
"That's not...exactly what I mean."
Leon said, trying to reassure things as best he could.
"I wouldn't boot her out while you're working here, I just...Seems unfair. What do you feel about working here, Miss Hani?"
He asked. If she wanted to, he was OK with that. But it seemed cruel to force a child -- and, after all, Leon didn't know she was older than she looked.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Not that much older. :smalltongue:
Hani glanced back and forth from Ante to the slightly intimidating Leon, unsure of what to say.
"Um ... y-yes? I mean ... yes?"
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
"I promise: you have nothing to worry about. I don't want any lady, no matter how young, to be unhappy..."
He framed it in terms of ladies, but as a rule of thumb, he didn't like anyone being unhappy. He gave explaining what he meant a valiant effort.
"So I'd like to know what would make you happiest here in terms of work, Miss Hani. That's all I'm saying... I'm not trying anything that would worry your sister,"
He said, with a glance up to Ante, who he felt sure his initial explanation was enough.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Ante looked at the prince with a worried expression. It was clear that she cared deeply about how he felt about her sister.
But she remained silent, letting Hani speak up for herself this time.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Hani-chan looked down and frowned. "I ... I'm not very good," she admitted, seeming sad about the fact.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Awww...That's a kind of adorable complete unanswering of his question. But, for the moment, he'd let it slide, and let her lead the conversation as she wished, hoping it's relax things.
"Oh, I'm sure you're just fine at it. Terran doesn't let bad maids through,"
He said, with a warm smile. He shot a look at Terran reminding him not to correct him.
-----Whoops Iaaccidentally forgot about Lune ----
Inside the chest was...A blue-ish pearl and a piece of parchement, curled up and sealed with a blob of wax.
((By the way, Benson, is she just getting her potato salad and standing there? And Yuki likewise?))
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Yuki suddenly realizes something. "Wait, Lune didn't take the ice with her. I think she left it in the hall." The assassin quickly scurries off to find the ice, or what's left of it.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Without giving a second thought Lune grabs the items in the chest and decides to give the parchment a once over before she heads back to the the castle.
As she began to break to seal and open it, she was struck just by how pretty it was. Paper of course being one of the only luxuries her people could never have. Sure there was the written language and their tabletsbut it wasn't the same...Focusing on the words she began to read what the parchment said.

Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Yuki
She finds it melting slightly in the hallway. It'll keep.

Lune
The note reads as follows:
To Whomever Finds this Message:
There are great treasures in this place, for those who seek...For those who find the path of water amongst the fruit, I pledge my troth: a treasure greater than this pearl, which calls disaster to it.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Lune blinked a moment. Unsure of exactly what it was saying she at least understood this much: ' I know where a treasure is and you do not.'
I think it's best if I rally the other girls to help me but maybe later as there is work to be done. she thought to herself. Slipping the chest contents in one of the pockets of her uniform, she dashed back to the castle.

Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Yuki grabs the bucket of ice and sprints back to the table. She sets the bucket down next to the tea pitchers, and then circles the table, making sure everything is properly set, and all the chairs are positioned right. Hopefully, no evil gerbil mad scientists or a literal Lord of the Flies or something crazy like that will try to obstruct her.

Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Lune arrives without incident.
Yuki also manages to get things in the exact right order. While the table still looks a little plain, no one can fault the precision of the set-up, and it looks like the remaining maids have got a few minutes.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
After retrieving the container with the red potato salad, Merry quickly made her way to the dining room, coming across Yuki. She sorta just paused for a moment and looked at the other maid warily. Yuki kinda intimidated her, her rather aggressive actions from that silly competition and general behavior put the devil on unease. Even the worst of fiends weren't as unsettling as her.

Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Lune rushes up to them, after spending a moment catching her breath, she began to speak.
" Hiya guys! I have interesting news but it can wait. Is everything ready for lunch?"
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Hani shuffled her feet, still to shy to speak unless spoken to.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Yuki raises an eyebrow at Meredithe's wary expression. She then turns to face Lune, and gives a nod of her head. "Yes, it would seem the table is set. Should we set the food on the table now, or bring it out when the Master arrives?"
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Well, that got him...The exact opposite of somewhere. He leaned forward, lowering his height while remaining in his seat, and asked,
"Does your bear have a name?"

"Well, don't we want to have it ready for him?....I don't really know how this maid thing works really...like...way we're to serve the master....I dunno..ah." She commented and set down her potato salad.

Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
"I suppose we should prepare a proper table setup, yes," Yuki nods to Meredithe. "I am afraid I have little field experience with being a maid, myself."
The assassin-turned-servant-and-bodyguard proceeds to properly place the sandwich that she and her comrades put together.
As she positions it, she looks over at the other maids and asks: "What did you do before this job?" She knew Lune came from the ocean, but the exact details about it weren't very clear to her.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Lune grabbed some of the other food and placed it on the table.
" Believe it or not I'm a princess back home, the oldest actually. I was in the constant rigamorole that comes with royal living; peace treaties, meeting suitors, and all kinds of training from etiquette to war planning."
She shrugged it all away.
" I think I find living here far more interesting then home."
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Yuki contemplates for a moment. "I am curious. What sort of suitors does one find at the bottom of the ocean?" she inquires. "Other mer-folk, or sea creatures of royal pedigree?"

Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
"That's a very nice name. Does it have a meaning, or is it a pretty sound?"
He asked. He was...deeply relieved to be making some progress there.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
Merry watched the other two maids chat with other, she was just glad the question wasn't directed at her. Thank jeeves for small gifts.
-
Re: Tale as Old as Last Wednesday [Maid IC]
" Both actually. I hadn't known any of them that long before I left and my mother was quite undecided as to who was the best choice for the kingdom and for me."
Lune sighed.
" So I'm not married or have anything in the fiancee department yet, thank the seas."
She looked over at Yuki.
" Ms. Yuki What did you do before coming to work here?"
