the geek in me: My little Pony? Really? even my 11 years old sister think it's childish and girly :smallannoyed::smallsigh:
the teenage girl in me: OMG IT'S SO CUTE!!!

Wait, this is the PPG animator? That explains it! I remember seeing an ad or bump or something and thought that SOMETHING about the animation looked oddly familiar, in that back-of-the-mind sort of way.
Haven't watched it, for reasons that become more obvious when you know I'm a 24 year old male with neither little offspring nor little siblings to entertain. Is it written by PPG people, as well? Is it funny, or is it just a straight-up show about magic ponies for little girls?

Can't it be both? :smallwink:
My favourite toys as a kid included a Tonka truck, a rockin' train set, and My Little Ponies. Don't knock 'em.Quote:

I watched three episodes (the first two and the slumber party) and these are my impressions. Keep in mind, I do fall within the shows demographic target of 18-36 year old males, so I may be biased.
Pros:
Theme song is incredibly catchy, all of the musical numbers are well done.
Protagonist is named Twilight Sparkle (!)
Applejack is the cutest pony ever. Bar none. Except maybe the hyperactive pony whose name is escaping me at the moment.
Pillow fight?
Cons:
Only had time to watch 3 episodes
Spike is... meh. He's not so bad, but he annoys me some. Mainly because he can't compare to the magic of the other ponies.
Other thoughts:
So far it's struck me as a reinvention of Harry Potter, but with the power of love replaced by the power of friendship. Because it is magic.
Jakaivah, I have a friend who would like me to tell you that he both hates and loves you. I linked him to the Winter Wrap up song.
He hates you for making him watch My Little Pony.
He loves you for making him watch My Little Pony.
I watched a bunch of 'em and I have but one thing to say.
Rainbow Dash?

Hey don't bash Spike! He's a cool bro.

Though I understand how you might feel that given how he drops out during the second episode and doesn't appear at all during the sleepover episode.

That's the one I'm pretty sure I own! :D
...except I can't find any pictures of the doll that look right :smallfrown:
edit: My mistake, I have Braided Beauty.
edit mk. 2: If anyone cares, as well as that one I also have this, this, maybe this, this and a shell like this (didn't realise it was a My Little Pony thing) but a hippocampus more like this.
I'm seriously considering actually collecting these...
Mythology geekery, ACKSHULLY :smalltongue: It was in the description of something I read - the wiki, I think - but no, it's not actually what they're called.
I cannot unsee it now. :smalleek:
And now I have to try to actually watch this... Hopefully my family doesn't start buying me pink things to humiliate me for years to come for this, Jahkaivah.

Now what is wrong with Pink?
From what I understand it is on a US children's channel called The Hub.
My little pony, oh jeez. I've never watched the show, but, I've heard about it. And I thought it was just this toy franchise until a few seconds ago when my mind was blown by RAINBOW DASH.
Anyway, my little cousin has this my little pony doll, and it's hair, I swear, is like, 20 feet long.
I hope she has fun destroying it. xD
Flutterguy singing alone makes this show absolute win.
Dammit. Now I'm watching My Little Pony.
A quick question, though. Pegasuses can fly, Unicorns have magic, but what do earth ponies have? Lord help me, but this is really bugging me now.
DAMMIT, I'm watching it too. I'm on episode 5. I'm so ashamed, and so very, very entertained. :smallannoyed:
If it makes you feel better, I was wondering this too. Not only can Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash fly, they also have some form of animal-empathy and weather-control the others don't seem to possess, respectively.Quote:

I guess Pinkie and Applejack just got the short end of the gene pool.
Earth ponies are the mundane ones. They have to make up for their non-supernatural abilities with sheer awesomeness, like one being crazy and insane, and the other being a southern hick-farmer.
Aside from that, Rarity is a gold-digger. That alone makes her my favorite little pony(-unicorn).
Earth ponies are badass normals. They're the Batmen of My Little Pony.
I am filled with deep self-loathing for saying this, but: My favorite My Little Pony is Fluttershy. If only there were actual people that were that nice.
Although, I think if we're opening up the favoritism poll for any character, regardless of species, I may have to go with Angel the Bunny.

Don't tell him how to eat his carrot.
Angel is badass.
It has been suggested that earth ponies probably tend to be stronger and tougher than pegasus ponies that need to be light to fly, and unicorn ponies who suffer from squishy wizard syndrome.
Good example of this is in the winter wrap up episode. Twilight struggles with hard farming work which seems to be done by the earth ponies.
This is a question that bothered me earlier, are there any DUDE ponies on the show or is this some sort of prepubescent girl fantasy world where boys are icky and therefore don't exist?
