Re: Murphy's Law 9: Contents Under Pressure
There is a button for making a subscription under 'thread tools' at the top of the page, and IIRC the mods much prefer you use that than make miniposts.

This is the third time someone's pointed that out.
Each time, it blows my mind... I forgot it even existed.

I did use that originally. I just couldn't resist the urge to join in the first page of explosiony comments.

Re: Murphy's Law 9: Contents Under Pressure
New thread!!! Yay!!!
I am confused.. who should we side with in this "discussion"? Radic or Janine, my gut says that we are supposed to sympathize with Janine; but for some reason I agree with Radic that Janine did cross boundaries she should not have, though I do think she reacted in the worst way possible.
Also, subscribing to the thread, =P
-
Re: Murphy's Law 9: Contents Under Pressure
I think both. Janine did get out of hand, but she had her reasons and Radic was a little harsher than necessary.
Basically, we should side with Serrin.

Yeah probably, though I would be quite scared of spending a lot of time in her company... at least without having some sort of elemental protection (or better yet, damage immunity).

And now, in deferring to Coffee's chosen profession, is a video of a cute girl dismembering a wolf. (It's for science!)

It's a fair point but the way I see it *someone* is eventually going to want to spend Happy Fun Cuddletime with my siblings. I'd rather it was someone I was fond of.

The correct answer is, we should side with neither, but instead to sympathise with both.

That is definitely true. But the timing was completely off. There's a time to make a move, but immediately after a bad breakup isn't really the best of them...
I also think Radic wants Janine to have a meaningful relationship that isn't just Happy Fun Cuddletime. She's hoping Janine will stumble across what love really means, instead of trying to get together with every man she wants to respect her. As I've said, they've probably had this discussion so many times before that it's driving Radic insane.

Re: Murphy's Law 9: Contents Under Pressure
Which opens another explanation to why Janine doesn't try to jump Matt. She doesn't care whether Matt respects her or not. That rings really true.
-
Re: Murphy's Law 9: Contents Under Pressure
I think Janine does care somewhat about looks and she probably doesn't find Matt attractive enough... or she recognizes that Matt only has eyes for Radic.
-
Re: Murphy's Law 9: Contents Under Pressure
Matt has the Will score of a sloth. She could probably seduce him without breaking a sweat. She just needs to ask him if he's ever been with an experienced woman and then kiss him. He'd be putty in her hands (well, not all of him obviously).

I think I'll put it down to Janine's growth as a character, and her desire to truly be a good friend to Radic.

That too I guess.

This is an excellent way to think, but not a common one. xD

Animals have pretty decent wisdom scores. Matt probably has the wisdom score of a Belkar.
About Janine, Coffee said earlier that Janine doesn't go after Matt because of Radic, among other reasons (and she's probably focusing on Lloyd too much to give any attention to Matt).

Well, Radic probably wants her brother to have a meaningful relationship, and not a guilt-ridden roll in the hay with her nutty friend. We often hold our relative's relationships to great standards...how many people canīt stand the boyfriends or girlfriends of their parents, children or siblings because "they aren't good enough"? Radic likes Janine, but she probably loathes her twisted view of "love" precisely because she likes the rest of her personality.

Re: Murphy's Law 9: Contents Under Pressure
Now that you mention it, sloths seem very serene and at peace with their surroundings. Until a jaguar eats them. Maybe they are the contemplative mystics of the animal kingdom?
Anyway, Matt has a poor Will save so I doubt he could resist sampling Janine's delicacies for long.
-
Re: Murphy's Law 9: Contents Under Pressure
So poor Janine. Outside, she's a cleric with penchant for bed. But inside, her lust was caused by the perverted master.

Even if Matt has a low will save, unless Janine used a spell like Charm Person or Suggestion he wouldn't have to make a save as Will saves != will power in game terms. As there is no actual rule for that kind of stuff I would probably rule that trying to seduce someone would be either a diplomacy or a bluff check depending on the intentions of the seducer.
-
Re: Murphy's Law 9: Contents Under Pressure
Pathfinder has a trait that gives you a bonus to diplomacy and bluff if the other person is attracted to you, so it's probably fair to say that they're at least related skills.
Note that bluff is countered by wisdom too. Diplomacy is countered by experience (or in DnD by circumstances).
-
Re: Murphy's Law 9: Contents Under Pressure
Well rogue do have sense motive as a class skill and there is a point where skill ranks will give more benefit that stat bonus; but I doubt Matt has invested in it (though considering he does likes to use bluff he should invest in it, a master liar shouldn't fall into someone else's lie)

He almost certainly has put at least a fair amount of ranks into Bluff if not the max possible based on his reaction in an earlier comic I'm too bothered by studying I should be doing to find.

I would think the worst possible thing that could happen to this thread would be either a solar radiation burst that wipes out the internet or for Coffee to lose her arms.
