Turns out I would have missed the surprise round any how. Ah well, this encounter went poorly for us.

Sya has dropped initiative and is waiting for a response from Traia
@Josh
Your posts need to be more coherent, and it seems like you are having keeping of track of who is posting what
Um, I've got a question, I have. Scry is a 4th level spell, outside the scope of this world. How'd Travod not only learned the spell but gain enough caster level to create a magical object with the ability?
That is a great question, but I feel that its all part of the mystery of the camp.
Its not a roleplay thing but a mechanics question. I mean, does that mean that we could gain enough feats after 6th to gain power beyond the level of the world? Is there a feat progression that will allow us to gain 4th level spells, 7th level class features, more maneuvers, ect? Because if there is that is something I would very much want to know about.
That is a good question.
Does your character knowanything about 3rd and 4th level spells? Does she know that it is indeed a "Scry" effect? Is it something else? Who/what could cast such a thing?
Sounds like some in-game knowledge checks and research may be in order.
Like I said, in the mystery of the game
Theoretically, no character would know about 4th level spells.
Yes, she does know its a scry affect because thats exactly what Madam Traia said. o.O
The only "things" that could cast a Scry spell or spell like effect are creatures with CR greater than 6 or characters with access to 4th level spells.
Again, this isnt about roleplaying or meta-gaming. I'm illegitimately asking how anyone could cast a scry spell in an E-6 camp. If its possible, I would like to know the mechanics for how such a thing would be possible so that I might be able to plan my character accordingly. If I must discover such a thing in-game, I will do that.
Do you know about all scry effects? What about custom ones? You haven't seen the room yet. I'm reserving the right to say you don't know what spell it is, or even what it does until you see it and/or make a knowledge check. Character knowledge is different than player knowledge. Since magic is mostly rare here, there's a chance you haven't even heard of what we would normally call "basic" spells.
In RAW, I'm not sure if there's a way to get 4th level progressions by 6. I know there's a way to get 2nd level spells early. You'd have to google that. Or ask on these forums, they know all the tricks, even if it would need a big DM approval.
In this setting there may or may not be a way to achieve class progression past 6. You'd have to find out in game with knowledge/research.
So I think the best way to answer the rest of the question is to clarify the E6 rules.
Humans and playable races can only achieve class lv.6. Monsters can exsist that are above/beyond this. They may have caster levels or SLA's of spells/abilities that are above 3rd.
So whatevermagical mystery is in front of you could have been caused by a CR+ monster.
I do not approve of meta gaming of this level, no matter what the game rules are, I believe a player should not ask technical questions about the world that the player character actually has no right to know. It seems to me that squirrel is asking directly how did this room come to be and how does this magic work. Since his character does not know and doesn't seem to know much about arcane/divine power in general he has no right to know. Its like asking "how did this guy just vanish, by the rules of this supposed universe that should be impossible". When having such knowledge will ruin gameplay, and planning a character out to take advantage of such knowledge is ridiculously taboo.
In any campaign all things are possible, I mean I feel that there are Gods in this camp somehow, but I doubt that they are only level 6 or under.
So much for not giving costumers the wrong idea. Now no one is gonna wanna purchase my services because I'm riddled with disease so hard I need regular potions from a potion master I cant find. =\
Lolz.
Now just because your character doesn't know, doesn't mean she can't find out easily. I believe there are two people who might have an idea where to get stuff like that...
;-)
Rolling mods.
When you roll you should add the mod, then explain it next to the roll just in case there's something left out or that the dm should add himself.
Ex:
[roll0] 1 bab, 2 str, 2 flanking
(The mods are clear here)
Is different than
[roll1]
(Mods might not reflect the flanking unless you leave a note)
In our ex: 1 bab, 2 str then expecting the dm to consider the flanking without letting them know it is/isn't there.
Your alertness with Jeramiah reminded me of this.
Continued questions about my tactical situation.
How close were my attackers from the moment they made themselves known? they could've only readied an action when they got within 5 feet of me? And if they are I would've used their surprise round to draw my weapon (instead of my witty retort) and rocked them with my qaurterstaff (which I'm only going with wasn't in my hand because I didn't say it was, but seriously where else would I have it)
I only acted with the assumption that they were not within five feet of me because that obviously would've called for an initiative roll.
See the way I saw things, this guy came from around the corner and was in front of me like 10 or 15 feet away, then he pointed behind him to two guys, I had no idea what was actually going on, thats why the whole thing came as a shock to me
By the way, I can't wait to see how this turns out!
Before rushing you, they were about 15 feet away. A readied action partial charge can carry you up to your movement speed(not x2 like a normal charge) in a straight line.
Like this, obviously map sucks but still.

P.s. I'm also thinking the obvious application for a 5 and 1/2 piece of tree is for a walking stick. You'd have it in your hand but not readied for battle. If you make a dex check(10) you can use it to give an AOO even if it isn't at the ready(meaning equipped and readied).
Edit:
Nevermind, its in your hand-its ready. Its not like you're using it for another real purpose. Swing away.
Alright! Lets see what happens!
Natural 20 on your Spot. Thats the right stuff!
Ya darn right!
BTW
Right now I'm waiting for Squirrel to formally agree to go after the jerks
Remember you can always do knowledge checks in the IC thread to see if you know anything special about the subject.
You can also ask: "What do I know about..." and I'll fill in more detail for you.

Josh? Have you lost it?
If all went well, I critical hit someone for 2, lol
D3s suck!
my xtra d3 roll and my initiative are in posts 261 & 262 of the ic
Oh mah Gawd. Calixta just exploded onto the battlefield and started tearing people up. She cleared the window in what I can only imagine to be a pants-soiling display of savagery matched only the 17 damage, rather insane for level 1 non-crit, she dealt in a single blow.
I am very sure you murdered that guy, now lets see what Llorat does
Oh, since we both have a 22 for initiative I'm allowing you to go first.
