I was in the mood for something fun and cute so I made a Pixie who loved human 'fairy tales' aspired to be the world's greatest knight.

In a players-as-monsters 3.5 D&D game:

Recette is the main character of Recettear, the video game about CAPITALISM.
That is, you run an item shop. And it's adorable.

It's also pronounced like 'Racket'. There's an in-game joke that when Recette slams her and Tear's (her account/loan shark fairy) names together, Tear dreadfully notes that any slight change in pronunciation will make it sound like 'racketeer'

Heh, that actually the first thing I noticed when I saw the name "Sounds like racketeer, that's not shady at all."

All three of those elicit a d'awww from me.

I must have the sources for these pictures. I must. I must! I must!

I have no idea about the first two, but the third is Cirno the ice fairy, from a series of top-down shooter games called Touhou. Cirno is the strongest.
There are some fun variations on this meme. One of my favourite variations is to do it from the GM's perspective: What I Planned, What They Expected, What We Played. Observe:

Re: What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I Played
I'll make one with pictures when I have more time, but for now-
What I Made: A young naive monk out to explore the world.
What the DM Saw: A stick-up-the-arse paladin without the spells or magic horse.
What I Played: The only thing standing between the other 4 PCs (3 chaoticly aligned, 1 nuetral) and an entire town of burning buildings and looted corpses.

Lord Gabriel, a 4th ed warlord and leader of the King's army, commonly known as "Gabby".

Oh man, these are terrific. I loved the vampire one with Leslie Nielsen

The most boring character I ever made. The only time I tried a dwarf.

You're probably lucky. What the DM saw could have easily ended up being Don Quixote. Or Sancho Panza.

"Can you tell me anything about him that differentiates him from every other dwarf?"

Not quite exactly what you have... but it reminded me of these two demotivators I had sitting around.

Re: What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I Played
I build a gentleman adventurer in GURPS, get completely overshadowed by the two munchkins in the party who put all their points into "hit things damn hard" and "wait an hour for me to Modular up the win button", and the DM is under the impression that a character who doesnt show emotion doesnt have it.

Well, I'm not very familiar with GURPS, but I'm pretty sure you would need at least 5000 points to properly build Teddy Roosevelt in the first place.
Anyways, someone had to do this one eventually so it might as well be me:

I feel for you. That made me sad a bit.
About time I posted mine.

You made a guy, DM thought it was a gal, in the end it was all very ambiguous?

...I think the fact that it's Rorschach, [a character I am not familiar with] and a mecha is probably more relevant than the sex of each one. Though, indeed, some explanation might improve it somewhat.

Re: What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I Played
I know that character. Basically, he made what supposed to be an unlikable smelly nietzche wannabe with powered armor. Except it's a girl, so people like it.... a bit too much (you can imagine yourself). At the end he just play her as tekkaman (which isn't a mech, but a series about alien powered armor) and beat people up.
Here's mine.
And another one

A person who doesn't know where these pics came from may indeed be confused. Here's an explanation.
Spoiler
Show
What I made - Rorschach from Watchmen. An antisocial paranoid hobo with superhuman ability, questionable logic, worse people skills and a Nietzschean "me vs the world of sheeple" attitude.
What the DM/other players saw - Fate from Nanoha. Lonely and unhappy girl (yes the character in question is female) who was suffering all life for no fault of her own. Someone to be comforted and befriended. Also, blonde. Also, lesbian shipping fuel with a red-headed friend.
What I played - Tekkaman Blade from, well, Tekkaman Blade. Armored transforming hero with a single-minded dedication to defeating a monstrous enemy group, and general lack of caring about everything else. Very asocial but gets (slightly) better due to influence of kind friends (and possibly-more-than-friends). In short, something between the two above.

Re: What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I Played
The DMing meme now: I'm running a game called Mecha Sky Pirates, which is exactly what it says on the tin.
-
Re: What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I Played
This is what happened one of the few times I tired to make a non-core race character with any level of depth or personality with a less than flexible DM.

Re: What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I Played
Why only have ONE double bladed lightsaber when you can have TWO.
Also: Bombing both the Jedi AND the Sith temples does not equate to living a long life.

I'll try my hand at this, sorry for tiny image (it looked bigger in paint)
