We really don't care about how you like people to capitalise your name, Tonberrian.

I don't know that there's any rule against it. 14 of 15 bonus points into getting Essence 5, then you swap charms for spells of any circle.
Starting with SCS, however, takes fun out of the whole thing, as you never RP any of your sacrifices.

Why do you keep talking about him? He never posts in this thread.
I heard he likes Scion, though...

The more you go on about it, the less likely I am to ever not capitalise your name. :smallannoyed:

Just as long as you realize that I, tonberrian, won't respond to comments directed at Tonberrian. We are, after all, entirely different fictitious characters with diverging tastes and hobbies.
I'm allowed to be nonsensicle. This is, after all, the internet.

Re: General Exalted Discussion V: Our Armies are Pants
On that note, I had a question about names.
About how much actual work goes into coming up with names for your various Exalted PCs and NPCs? I'll admit, I have some trouble coming up with non-title names. :smallsigh:
Right now, kinda stuck as far as working out more details about some of my Infernal PCs' First Age incarnations...

There is in fact a rule against it.

People do play by houserules, of course, but statements regarding houserules do not apply to the game as a whole.
Please keep that in mind when discussing Exalted (right back on topic; BAM!).

Huh, I actually got that out of the rule booklet that came with my game and before reading that assumed I could only use english words. I'm going to go look through that rule booklet and see if I was just imagining things.
Edit: The Earth should totally be a rhombus it would be kick ass!

Re: General Exalted Discussion V: Our Armies are Pants
Names-names I have real trouble with, and I try to avoid them. When I do use them, I look for syllables that work together to come out somewhat exotic and fun to say. Bonus points for a shortening to a common real life name.
Phrases-as-names (which are distinct from titles-as-names - see Seven Devils Clever vs. The Bull of the North) I try to look up words that are significant to my character in a thesarus. For example, Twilight Sparkle might turn into Glimmers in Eventide, much more Exaltedesque (ymmv).
There's also several Exalted name generators on the intarwebz, but I don't think I have one bookmarked on this computer.

Be fair, it occasionally has good ideas as well. And some of the stupider ones are definitely worth a laugh.

First, as of the Errata, Solars begin with 18 bonus points. Second, it costs 7 BP to raise your Essence 1 dot. Third, Solars by default begin with 2 dots of Essence. Thus, 14 BP gets you Essence 4.
Points 2 and 3 are from the Core book, pre-Errata, but I do not believe there is any Errata that changes that. Also, the rule previously quoted that says that you can't start with Solar Circle Spells.

therefore you would need at least 3 points worth of flaws[1] to start with an essence of 5, note that even through the maximum 10 points of flaws gives you enough bp, you still can't start with essence 6 because that is a specific rule in the corebook.
[1] which require that you are in a game which allows flaws.

So, that's an Essence 4+ Abyssal with the second part of Five Knife Fist as a Taint?

Argh, ten dice of piercing pun damage! :smalleek:
I'll get you for that, Lixie... (sneaks off)
Oh, wait, before I go, I was going to ask something: how balanced does the Playground consider Isidoros' Charmset that The Demented One whipped up?

would one defend against pun damage with a physical perfect or with a social one?:smallconfused:
as for your question, I think it is okay, but I must confess that I haven't looked to hard at it.
I do however know that The Demented One himself dislike it, but that may just be because of its age and the tendency of homebrewers/artists to dislike their earlier works because it isn't up to the standard or their newer work no matter of the actual quality involved.

Oh, right, forgot you needed flaws. So, with flaws, you can initiate into SCS and that's it. Still.

Where is the link to the Dr. McNinja pages? Either of them would do.

Re: General Exalted Discussion V: Our Armies are Pants
clearly the solution is to build necrotech eyes which can either throw knifes or turn into knifes or, if you are good enough, both.

Re: General Exalted Discussion V: Our Armies are Pants
Highly acrobatic combat style involving repeated use of Elemental Bolt and Elemental Burst. Fluffing it like this: Awesome or not?
