Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
Interesting to see that the Eld are able to notice attempts to establish a mental connection.
I mean, Klo Tark could telepathically communicate with people on other planes.
And he lived in a place that connects all planes.
So Klo Tark apparently never bothered to contact them in all the centuries he spent away from them.
I can't wait to find out why.

"You don't understand, Nimmel... Klo Tark is an Eldariat phrase meaning 'Boy who jumps into Tempest with Cloak of Ara and lives.' That means we must transform you into an Eld (which we can do because of how awesome you are) and send you back in time to rescue Dominic!"

That explains why the Eld didn't know he had information about Klo-Tark.
They can't read minds if the information is not in his brain.
Does it make any sense?

So, he pulled that information out of his ass?

I'd liken it more to a network drive. The Eld only checked Nimmel's local harddrive, which is pretty much empty. They should have looked at the shared folders of the central Mookie. The password is "rock on". :smallamused:

If this ultimately ends up in a stable loop - with "Nimmel Tark" being slit up and left for dead in a pool of his own gore - I have to say I don't have all *THAT* much of a problem with it.

Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
so only one person from whole giant ship survived but it's still a good option? are they insane or something?

How can you read those faces? Klo Tark may have been the war criminal who hijacked the ship and drove it into the maelstrom, laughing madly the whole time.
"We won't need masks to breathe where we're going!", the last, cryptic transmission. And then, y'know, a sound like a thousand souls being ripped apart.
PLUS: the gigglethief they're talking to got through the tempest with a 100% survival rate. If the cloak is what you need to do that, then yeah, shunt Nimmel to the plane of air and he can cool his [[GOSH DARN]] heels for a hot second while they shunt a warship through the dimensions.

What the hell is THAT? It doesn't even look human. It's an abomination!

Lemon slices and sundry floating in a bowl of tomato sauce? Maybe it's a dip. Oh, a ratatoi? Couldn't recognize it from the picture.
Edit to add: Not too impressed with it artistic-wise.

What cat?
And what are those... things... in the way of the white void?

The world of Mookie is not always a white void. Sometimes it is a black void and sometimes, on special occasions, a bloody red mess. This is obviously one of those instances.
Cat (kt) n. - a smallish Dominion ape that may be recognized by its sometime orange appearance.

So they're a type of halfling?

No. Halfling are recognizable by their love of overcomplicated fruity drinks over which they labor endlessly while Cats are lazy and often suffer from malnutrition for some reason.

Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
Spark?! What happened to him?! He almost looks. . . like a cat!

It is because of the witch Luna and her evil magicks!

Because Klo Tark got amnesia.

It's because he was offscreen. The world of DD suffers from a sort of object impermanence: nothing can actually happen if it's not onscreen. There are exceptions for Lord Dominus and occasionally Luna the (So) Great, but even the rest of the First Caste is not immune. Klo Tark is nowhere near special enough to actually do anything if we don't see it happen, and that includes Klo Tark Phone Home.
-
Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
That's true, of course, but I hope Mookie attempts to explain it.

That would be wonderful, because it would mean Dominic was chosen as the world's savior by one of his students that happens to be friends with his wife.

I can actually see Mookie going with this, although he'd of course make it some sort of bizarre magic amnesia and in the process dig 10 more plot holes to fill up this one.
On another note, if I were to actually critique today's filler photo, I could find more nice things to say about it than the last 6 months of regular comics.
-
Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
Nimmel being Klo Tark might explain why his last name is Feenix.

Nimmel is turned into an Eld, goes to the past, gets amnesia and becomes Klo Tark.

And then dies, violently. Twice.
Seriously, I'm still not seeing a problem with this plan. :smalltongue:

His grief over not being able to save his one friend from the Infernomancer is obviously just foreshadowing that explains why he'd so willingly sacrifice his life to save Dominic later.
And this skilled attempt to contact the Eld, as well as all the good thinking he's done lately? All just to showcase tha,t with his brilliant mind, he has the potential to become a great psion like, or should I say as, Klo Tark.
This is happening. It has to.

Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
Everybody calm down or get angry, depending, because it's SNEAKY GATE TIME. (FUTURE)
Second panel Nimmel, just listen to yourself.
Bonus fun time happy note - look at the casual racism of the Eld. "Oh, yeah, our society collapsed because all our wizards just completely lost it. You probably don't even have one guy who could lose his mind like that."
Joke's on you! Humanity has exactly one person who could lose his mind and destroy us all! Fortunately the king has him imprisoned inside a magically inert structure, or maybe on another plane or something. Good job, King Dave! You're saving all of us.
-
Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
... Mookie actually realized that Nimmel telling the Eld that they could come back didn't magically allow them to come back?? He's clearly been reading this thread.
Also, Klo Tark... named himself after the ship on which he was the only survivor? :smallconfused:
-
Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
See, all King DJ needs to do right now is show Dominic a bowl of Mavpel candy and then light it on fire. Boom. Mindbreak.

On the plus side, thats about the only thing that will cause mind break, so if dj doesnt want dom to go insane, he can torture him, remove limbs, kill his friends, all thats happened to him in the past and no mind breakage. Just dont threaten the mavpel!
-
Re: Dominic Deegan, Mk. XLVII: A Flat World From Recycled Scrap
Let me guess... Dominic's mindbreak will be so powerful that it breaks the barrier between the worlds and allows the Eld to return. Because Dominic is just so Awesome.

Yeah, how the hell did he know what the name was?
