Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
Welp since this is the last okita banner and I have been working extra hours, I decided to allow myself one purchase of SQ. First I spent my last two 10 pulls and all my tickets then naught and spent my SQ. Finally broke my dry spell with the fifth banana Oni, a case Gil to burn, and a second assassin of the nightless city. Decided to finish off the single pulls I had and on the second to last pull got okita!
I finally have a 5 star saber that isn't artoria! Artoria is kinda hard to use these days...
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
Managed to land Okita myself after putting some tickets at the banner. Now I feel guilty for siding with Nobunaga in the story!
Also put some tickets at the regular event banner and drew Emiya. Who promptly became a rare prism and then a set of Mona Lisas, seeing as I already have him at NP2 (and kind of prefer Nobbu for the role anyway.)
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
I spent the tickets I got for this event on the Okita banner last night. I got Wu Zetian and Nursery Rhyme.
I feel like the gods of gacha are trying to tell me something.
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
Most of the tickets I got during the event went to Okita. I got a Poster Girl and nothing else of note.
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
Rolled a bunch for Okita, ended up getting 4 Guda Guda Poster Girls. So I decided to do one more roll just to try for one more of them for the sake of MLB, as that was a more likely pull. Promptly pull Okita. Which was great and all, but I was still one CE short of a MLB. So an hour ago I did one more last ditch roll for a Poster Girl. Didn't get it. Did get Mordred though so that's super cool.
I need SO MANY embers, got a pile of golds to level but barely any time to ember farm with all the events going on. Saving all my event shop All Embers for Okitan and BB, leaving me with having to do Dailies to get embers for all these characters who need them. On the plus side, have narrowed down my 3 turn ember team to support Waver, Spartacus, Bunyan, and Kiyohime, who replaced Tamamo Cat as the last member. So while the battles go quick, so does my AP for not that many embers compared to how many I need.

Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
Threw a few tickets on the Okita banner, not really expecting anything. Got a Wu Zetian and the Tuberculosis Girl. Now my saberface collection is complete.

You have waiver but didn't mention Akbar Arash? Him and Bunyan are the king of speed farming.
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
I don't really see the point of speed farming. I mean, even at +4 turns it really doesn't take that long in terms of sheer time spent and the AP stays the same whether you take 3 turns or 30.
Personally, I'd rather have Servants who will yield me more value from Bond points then the ones that clear waves the quickest.

Arash is great, hes on my QP farming team, but he struggles with Lancers. Which is roughly 1/3 of all Ember farming I do. Don't want to have to swap him out every few days or build an entire second team just for the days I fight lancers. Hence the triple zerker team. Lets me farm all days, same team, no swaps. And I don't even use my own Waver on these teams, I use Support Waver for the double Lunchtimes so I can bond grind two characters of my pick in the back line on one of the most common battles anyone does. And then along comes an event and all Lunchtime Wavers vanish and I'm left in the dumps. This set up also has massively helped level my combat suit, so its the first of the three organizational codes that I maxed, though its actually still 100k points from maxing, but at 15k a run, it will go quick.
Also Arash struggles to do 20k damage to neutral targets, unbuffed. He can barely ever kill the one big Door on the first wave of QP farming unless I slap a buff on. might be my CE choice on him, but I'm running that team without waver as I usually pick a support Ozymandias for that 3rd skill and the Mona Lisa they carry. Astolfo(third skill level 6, One Summer which swaps to MLB Imaginary Element if I can't find support Ozy), Teach(Scope), Arash(MLB Imaginary Element) with support Ozy is that build. And to clear that first wave I have to use Teach's Attack and NP Strength Up buff to get Arash to actually do enough to clear it. His NP is fast, his charge is good, but without buffs it lacks punch on neutral foes, never mind resisted. Sure, I could rework the team to include Waver, but that leaves the support slot unused besides for the CE, and only one back line bond leveler. By using Ozy as a pseudo Helena, I get the CE and support the team needs.
On a related note, for those who have seen JP's support lists, what CE does support Skadi usually use? Bonus Bond CEs or bonus QP CEs? Cause depending on which people tend to equip her with, it makes her much more appealing to certain farming nodes, while also making her less appealing to other nodes, both of which would benefit from her buffs. My worry, tying it back to the previous paragraph, is that people will put the Bond CE on her, making her far less useful for QP grinding. Which would in turn mean I shouldn't at all bother with planning a new QP team built around a Quick character. The ability to have two QP CEs is way too good to pass up on when building teams.

Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
As a heads-up to the newer folks, the next event after Holmes requires Solomon completion. The Holmes event is just a set of main quests with no farming, so now would be a good time to get cracking on those main story missions if you have the time.

People like me have like 400+ golden apples from playing the game a very long time so AP is more of a nice free bonus to me atm. And personally i only play limited times the day playing fgo so when I want to level a servant I want to get the rounds over quickly and maybe spend a few golden apples. Or silver in my case cause some event from a few months ago gave me too many silvers. Almost gone finally.

Always good info to have. I've completed that part, but I remember being furious the first time I was locked out of an event because of that. I had to skip multiple cutscenes in order to finish Babylonia in time to play the event.
On a related note, how long before we start getting events that require being caught up on Lostbelt? I'm still working on the pseudo-singularities and haven't had much chance to do those for awhile because of the rapid pace of events lately. I know I can come back to them later but I'd rather do them before Lostbelt if I can.

Around Halloween we get The Mysterious Country of ONILAND, which will require Lostbelt 2 (which comes out in July.)

The Near-future observation lens is currently a bit cloudy, but you probably have 2-3 weeks to go. In Japan, they had Holmes, GUDAGUDA Meiji restoration, followed by two weeks with the 13M downloads celebration and hunting quests, and then GUDAGUDA Imperial Capital. We're getting the Murder at the Kogetsukan after the GUDAGUDA rerun. I would expect the 13M celebration (which includes half-AP main quests) and hunting quests next week. The celebration might take a second week, but three weeks without a major event seems like a lot, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the Imperial Capital overlap into it.

E Plubirus Unum, I assume. It was the official motto of the U.S. for a long time.
You've got a bit of a dash ahead of you, but it's conceivably doable. You've only got Camelot, Babylonia, and Salomon to do, and Salomon is pretty short.

Welp, guess I'm skipping that event. With all the time-sinks of the last few weeks I've only managed to get like four missions into Okeanos. Something tells me that finishing five and a half Singularities in less than a month isn't a thing for me, considering I usually do them at something around a mission a day when events aren't happening. I could skip the dailies and just grind story stuff, I guess, but I think it would be a bit too much of a slog for me unless Okeanos rapidly picks up steam in terms of 'being an interesting story'.
In other news, my team is coming together nicely. Achilles, Shiki and Altera are all in their final Ascensions and most of the rest of my team is level 60-70. Did pretty well with the most recent event, though I elected to finish off the Oda side rather than work on Shinsengumi so only got Chacha to NP3. Not sure if I'll use her any time soon regardless, with access to Frankenstein and, I understand, 'Zerker Jalter coming up in a couple of months. Enjoyed the event more than I thought I would, honestly. Nobbu and Okita are pretty fun, especially when they're playing off each other. I'll take more Nobbu any day, really.
… Okay, so, I have a gripe with Francis Drake. So, it's Fate. I'm not going to complain that they turned him into an attractive, busty woman. Fate's gonna do that, you just have to roll with the punches. I do have a problem with them turning him into a generic pirate queen. Drake was a naval officer, commanding a British naval ship (and later an Admiral commanding a fleet, but that's not important). He had a knighthood and was a politician, and every account describes him as a highly patriotic individual who happened to have a particular hatred for Spain. Francis Drake in this game shares pretty much nothing with the figure on which she was based. I still wouldn't have a problem with that, except that Grainne Mhaol exists. The origin for that generic pirate queen they're presenting Drake as here. There's an actual famous folk hero pirate queen who would have been a perfect fit for the role they gave Drake in this game, from the same time period as Drake, who even happens to be described fairly similarly to the way Drake looks here. Someone who legends say 'inherited the spirit of a warrior goddess', which is Fate-code for 'now they have magic powers!'
Anyways, that's my venting out of the way. Change Drake's name to Grainne Mhaol and I'm all good. Personality and role can pretty much stay the same.

Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
That one's on Fate/Extra, rather than on Fate/Grand Order; it's the game that presented Drake like this, and frankly all of its Servants ranged from "slightly wobbly" to "entirely ludicrous" even by the already moderately loose standards of Fate shows.
Extra is where "Robin Hood as a cowardly poisoner" comes from, as well as "Lu Bu just yells all the time", "Elizabeth Bathory is a fame-obsessed teenager", "Tamamo-no-Mae wants to be a good wife", and the entire premise of Nursery Rhyme.

To be slightly fair to Extra, a few of them have a bit more nuance there then when they were ported over to FGO. Drake its pointed out in the Extra setting was historically actually a guy, the Mooncell changed their gender upon summoning for very little reason. The same Mooncell super computer that gets a glitch in its simulated world and turns a friendly nurse AI into the devil that is BB. This detail was lost in FGO where they were always a woman for some reason. Robin Hood was pointed out was more of a title that was given to anyone who raised a fuss in Nottingham, he was just one of many who had the title and there could be another Robin summonable who really is a dashing heroic individual. Meanwhile FGO acts like this Robin is the only Robin. Though us getting a Saber Robin based on Errol Flynn's version would be amazing.

I'm way more ticked at Ceasar being portrayed as a lazy fat dude when his whole thing in life was that he was one of the most active and ambitious person ever.
At least his oratory talent remains intact.
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
The reason suggested for Drake's gender-swap in Extra is that Shinji - who is Drake's Master there and the first Master you fight - messed with his Saint Graph to hide his identity. In Extra, hiding Servant identities was paramount for that Grail War and it's also a major aspect of the actual gameplay that you need to resolve before the boss fights.
In my initial head-canon Nero was also actually male. He shaped himself into his voluptuous Umu form due to a mix of his particular sexuality, extremely potent delusional self-concept, and his personal sense of aesthetics -- which supposedly included cross-dressing. Umu is his ideal, a magnanimous ruler and polymath made to be adored... even if she still can't sing on key.
Though it wasn't FGO that made Umu into actual Nero, there was a manga that went into her backstory well before that.
Edit: Incidentally, I like Robin's characterization in Extra and FGO. It's similar to Sasaki Kojiro or Jack the Ripper in that "he's an gestalt of many persons and legends under the general concept of Robin Hood" but they didn't go with the more contemporary designs and focused on his being a guerrilla fighter in the woods.

Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
Yeah i don't think i am going to get to it that soon, most recent event i hardly got anything done aside from the main story and a little extra farming. Didn't even get all the exp cards, i think because it was a much less engaging set of fights to do versus the rather fun Apocrypha one that preceded it.
Mixed feelings about the current thing but the lure of more stars will get me through it i guess.

Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
So during the gudaguda event I got real lucky on my rolls in the gocha, I got the 5* zerker whose name I cant remember, a copy of Jeanne, an Arjuna, and 2 copies of EMIYA, but that's also cause a conundrum, what's better, a lvl100 NP4 Emiya or, a lvl90 arjuna?
Their kits are similar enough that I'm thinking arjuna isn't worth raising.

Arjuna's problem is his deck isn't great for Buster purposes (in fact it's the same as Martha's albeit with more attacks), his main CD is pretty long, and the instant death feature on his NP is rather useless outside of double-tapping mobs weak enough that he'd kill them anyways. He's basically stymied from being OP in any specific area while still being overall rather good in his stats and skills.
So he won't replace EMIYA, but you can still pair them up very effectively. Arjuna can be a strong crit-star generating support to an EMIYA while also being useful offensively himself as he's got essentially 2030 but as skill -- which you can obviously improve further with CEs. His NP's defence debuff is a fine way to start an NP chain as well, as it's the same as Martha's NP but obviously with more attack power behind it.
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
Personally, I like Arjuna, but his kit isn't exactly optimal, and he's in dire need of an animation update so he isn't using the same animation three times in his Arts Brave.

I'm not sure where some of these claims originate from, because nothing of the sort has ever been stated anywhere.
Drake is established from word one in Fate/Extra to have been female all along. In fact, there was a little bit that was lost in translation that mentions a rumour that Francis Drake and Queen Elizabeth may or may not have swapped places at one point after the Queen developed an unfortunate scar on her face... but then notes that it's almost certainly a work of fiction. At any rate, nothing ever says that Shinji altered anything about Drake to conceal her identity.
BB's situation was more than just 'a glitch'. That whole scenario involved intentional malicious hacking of a Mooncell AI to kick that whole thing off, from what I recall.
Robin is still stated to be just one of many people who have taken up the name. In fact, we've seen another such person, Robin of Loxley, in one of the other currently-running Fate-franchise works.
Caesar's situation is implied to be more a case of him feeling more than a little burned out on political intrigue... as for the fat, he never gives a straight answer on the subject when asked. At most, he evades and claims that it's a matter of looking at him from the wrong angle, or something like that. Nonetheless, we can confirm from Cleopatra's response to him that this was not what he looked like at any point when they were together in life.
And then with Nero... they've been hinting and teasing for years now that the Nasuverse is doing a thing where Nero is conflated with the concept of the Whore of Babylon. And aside from that, Nero's design originated as an intentional fake-out for existing fans before Fate/Extra came out, for the sake of inciting reactions like "what the hell happened to Saber?". The only part that has ever been established as something that Nero has changed about herself is that she's trying to distance herself from the "Whore of Babylon" associations by forcing herself into the Saber class, where that aspect cannot fully express itself (with the heavy implication that she is better-suited to the Rider class... but that puts her far too close to falling over the figurative edge and becoming a Beast).

Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
So, in spoilers it course, I have to know. What are you're bets for the solution to this little mystery and why? I spoiled myself on it when it first ran in jp so I didn't get the proper mystery but I'm curious on where the people who went in blind landed.
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
I've never been good at this kind of mystery unless it's made super obvious, so usually if I figure it out at all it's immediately before the official reveal. As it is now I've already suspected three different people.
Until this latest chapter I was thinking it might be Stheno/Juliet herself, but now I don't think so anymore. I'm thinking it could be the mom (whatever Raikou's character is named), because she's already shown she values Juliet's happiness more than the business alliance and because Raikou is usually portrayed as psychotically overprotective. But I'm not at all sure.
-
Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
I was spoiled what the trick was, so it made noticing the clues easier.
Spoiler: DONT LOOK CULPRIT HERE
Show
The trick is your character and Mash mixed up who is who. Firstly, Hawthorne mentions the Twins have "such ... different personalities" despite Harriet and Juliet acting a lot alike. Then that Juliet never mentions her mother or sister by name, just "mother" or "my little sister". Then that its "Ms. Eva" not "Mrs. Eva", and she even herself mentions mother. The trick is that Eva is the sister, and Harriet is the Mother. Once you get that, you realize Harriet never had an alibi as she seemed to be getting her alibi from others by way of "my sister and I" when that was actually Eva's alibi. I'm missing the why she did it, but its likely connected with Aaron mistaking Juliet for an old fling which was actually Harriet, but I got the who.
Seriously, don't look in there if you want to figure it out yourself.

Re: Fate/Grand Order IV - Are you my Master? [Rerun - Lite]
This is comparatively minor, but I really wish the old angry lady who uses an iron maiden and has an anti-female NP was Elizabeth Bathory, and the teenage girl with charisma that works better on females and is clearly a lot less historical was named Carmilla. I know EXTRA had already locked the first name down, but it would have just made so much more sense that way.

Well, based on the evidence I'd say Dorothy - she claims she put Laurie to bed at 10 and slept with her until morning, but Cain says he was playing with Laurie at the time of the murder. Additionally, she has the clearest motive in knocking Aaron's other children out of the succession. That said, Holmes' bit at the end implies there's some sort of trickery involving the names and faces the MC sees, which this theory doesn't have.
