Yes, that would indeed be correct.
I remember that week... :smalltongue:

That one too, but I was mostly referring to their later appearance. If you haven't seen it yet... Well, when you do, you'll know what I mean.

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
Okay, sunday night after the zoo (I discovered I was scared of snakes by the way) I get home, get into my room and burst into tears. Try to eat my dinner, but I just couldn't taste it so I didn't finish.
I now completely regret that. I really really like mashed potatos, and I want some now. Why did I stop? Why not just eat through!?
I are sad now. And hungry.

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
I just got trapped in a lift. It was only for 20 minutes while the caretaker called the lift engineer. Once the engineer arrived (and he arrived remarkably promptly) it only took him 5 minutes to get me out. But still. It wasn't a terribly nice experience.

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
@Jibar: What happened? It was from the snakes?
@Dish: I may go crazy in that 20 minutes. I would cry. Oh geez.

That stinks. I'm sorry to hear that.
*sends sympathy*
*and mashed potatoes*

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
Why were you sad, Jibar? I've had eating problems in the past for various adrenalin-based reasons.:smallfrown: Also, what's wrong, Colonel?

Awww! I hate it when others are sad! :smallfrown:
And fear not the snakes, for they fear fire!

Hey I know life has been dealing you a poor hand lately,
But I got a big plate of exactly what you need,
I'm gonna put a smile on your face,
Guaranteed...
'Cos I got mashed potatoes,
Gonna chase away all of your woes,
So dry your eyes and wipe your nose,
'Cos I'm bringing sympathy and mashed potatoes...
Also: Crying, not related to snakes.
Edit: Also, I like that. I need to write that down.

Hmmm…
*takes lyrics, sticks them on a sticky titled "for Garage Band"*
I'll get back to that one.

Then what's wrong, Jibar?

My inner DIscworld fan says that Rincewind would agree with this song totally. You know you're obsessed when nubile pale-skinned blond haired, blue-eyed Amazonians offer you rescue and a chance to be pleasured as the only man in their village and all you can think of are spuds.
My mum's evil and cowardly. She's got an appointment at nine to get the rest of her teeth removed and she's not going unless, and I quote, "You're up by half six." Why? She doesn't even have to leave till eight, but she knows that I have a hard time getting up early in the holidays so she's seeing me as a way to get out of it.
I mean, sure I'm babysitting for most of the day, but even Littlest Brother doesn't get up til seven and he's virtually comatose until about nine anyway.
Evil, evil parent. It'd be easier for me to just not sleep; so that's what I'm doing tonight.
I think I'll watch some Revolutionary Girl. I'll be perfectly bemused all night. All night.

I bought another Isaac Asimov book last Saturday. And I fail to see why it's so bad to describe everything when you're writing a story... I love that style...
-
Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
By the way, for those interested.
Tah dah.
Apart from the aftermath, it was a really fun day.
I also got a new picture of Maddy to add to my wall.
Oooo... shock shock horror horror. There's a picture of me in there. With a cookie moustache.

Reference lost.
And I don't even remember the last time I went to a zoo, let alone with friends. :smallconfused::smallfrown:

Which one, out of curiosity?
I like having things described, but only to a certain level. Description is nice, but half a chapter devoted to describing the various types of fish swimming past the submarine occupied by the narrator is a little excessive.

It's named "The Complete Stories, II"
It's an awesome book, and I got it for a really good price. It was terrible, though, because I had to choose between two books I wanted to buy, at the same price... Ah well, I'll read The Golden Compass someday.
Edit: I shouldn't spend so much time in the xkcd forums, too. Halfways through my story, I was about to make a Bel-Air...
-
Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
Thanks for the pictures, Jibar. The cats and the otter were really cute. What do you mean about making a Bel-Air, Radicalskippy?
-
Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
This is a Bel-Air
And I'd appreciate it if you use my proper name, with a "k", or call me just Skippy, thanks.

Thanks for the explanation (sorry about the typo; I was typing quickly and I didn't notice that spelling).

Golden Compass is quite a good read, when you do find the money/time to read it. By far (In my opinion) the best of the trilogy. Unfortunately, the movie didn't quite do it justice, but they rarely do to those that actually take the time to read the books.

Oddly enough, I haven't seen the movie either, as it happened with the book, every time I get the chance to rent the movie, another, better movie, is released, and it takes priority. I also expect that the movie won't be as good as the book (Harry Potter, I'm looking at you. And it gets worse every time.) but I really want to read the whole trilogy. It's just that Asimov is too awesome...

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
*ahem*
THE GOLDEN COMPASS IS NOT A BOOK. IT IS MERELY THE AMERICANISED NAME FOR SOME STRANGE REASON.
THE BOOK IS CALLED THE NORTHERN LIGHTS AND IS THE FIRST IN A TRILOGY OF BOOKS.
THERE IS NO BOOK CALLED THE GOLDEN COMPASS AND THERE'S NO COMPASS IN THE BOOK.
It's some kind of truth-o-meter or something.
And I don't even like the series.

Re: Jack Squat's Justlessly Juxtaposed Random Banter #101
It's called an aleithometer I think.
It's a good book, but Curly's right, it's called Northern Lights.
