There's no fathoming necessary, I think. She's quite clearly got a Masterball with your name on it. I'm not entirely sure how that would work out, but probably worth looking out for.
Aaand now all I can imagine is a Pokemon Anime style thing with the running gag being Lix throwing a masterball at Bleakbane once per episode when he least expects it (curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal style) and him having to use his rocket-launcher/a nearby chair/a civilian bystander as an improvised baseball bat to fend it off.
Thwack! "Right out of the park!"

Re: My Little Pony LIV:E Long and Pony!
Here's a question for everypony. What parts of the Fanon do you disagree with and what do you prefer in it's place?
For example
Octavia is Pinkie's sister.
I prefer that here sisters are called Inkie and Blinkie and are basically this
Or
Sparkler is Dinky's sister
I prefer that Sparkler is Dinky's foalsitter and is very close to the family.
and
Derpy is a Mailmare
I just think this is silly. We've never seen her work as a Mailmare but as moving heavy objects as part of a moving company. Two very different things! Also we've seen Mailmares and none of them have been Derpy.

I agree on the Pie Sisters one that you put forth.
But my fanon has Derpy as a mailmare who works multiple jobs to raise and tend to her young daughter Dinky, and also occasionally joins a silly earth-pony stallion in his blue shed to go on wondrous adventures, always returning minutes later with some new story and muffin recipe.
Edit:
@Balmas: I've seen stories with that being a name she detests, and it strangely works for me as well. As for Vinyl and Octavia, depends on the writing.

Well, one that I have is that Ditzy is Derpy's actual name. In my mind, her name is Ditzy Doo, and Derpy is her somewhat unkind nickname.
Octavia and Vinyl are not lovers; they're close friends.
EDIT: How about a little humanized Dash and Applejack?
And, we have my morning.

More then a little off topic but personally I would find being called Ditzy to be much more insulting then being called Derpy.

Hmm, I wonder what the event would look like. You're actually a pokemon trainer, so maybe the legendary Lich event is some kind of special trainer battle with your team, and then the forces of the battle unlock some kind of special legendary. I assume it would wield cold beams.

Yeah I agree with this one. I always thought Derpy sounded cute, even if it implies mental illness of some sort, whereas Ditzy is just insulting.

I was just about to say that too. Ditzy is clearly an insult, while Derpy Hooves sounds a bit like somepony who would wow you on a dance floor. Kinda like "Fancy Hooves."

Yeah, this. A derp is a harmless blunder, but when I think of a ditz, I usually think of someone so consistently vapid that you had to come up with a new word just to find an insult biting enough to describe them.
I do like the nickname idea, though. She goes by "Derpy", and with a name like "Ditzy", who can fault her?

Re: My Little Pony LIV:E Long and Pony!
Somewhere in Ponyville, there's a pegasus named Ditzy Doo that is crying her eyes out from all the things that were just discussed.
She may not be the one everyone thinks is Derpy
She may not have ever shown herself on screen
But that is her name and she did not mean to go north for the...*sniff*... southern birds... and everyone just assumes that... *tear*... because her name....*cries*
http://i.imgur.com/KtAOH.png oh... my
http://i.imgur.com/nKrHQ.png How dare you make a poor pony cry, going around throwing hurtful remarks like that. You should be ashamed of yourself. I have a mind to find your mother and tell her what you've been up to, young man. Now you go over there, and apologize.

I think Ditzy's parents should apologize for giving her a name that's also considered by many to be an insult. That's a terrible thing to do to a child.

Names are hard. :/
Oh, and the Skyrim Manhorse would be much more unnerving if I hadn't already seen the Macho Man Randy Savage Dragon. The presence of a pony-head in the image does little to affect that either way.

Green comes with english ponythreaders, like you!
But I haven't got around to trying to meet you for reals yet.

I'd say you are applying Human bias to Pony culture. For all we know Ditzy could mean "most fair and kind" in Equestrian.
And I hope you know that this whole thing isn't meant in seriousness

Well given that the Doctor has been confirmed as a terrible dancer (in his most current incarnation, anyway), I think that choice would lead to hilarity.
Giving her an actual dance partner is a bit harder. I would make an OC, personally, or grab one of the less defined background ponies.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised. Given his opinion on rock and roll (see AT4W)... He's just kind of a... Richard, sometimes, is Batman...

Here, here!
Whatever her name means, it's not fair to take it out on her, now is it, ponythread?
Maybe it means something nice in Equestrian.
Maybe it's short for something else.
Maybe it just doesn't have the same negative connotations (as we've had this conversation many times before, and the point has been raised that it's not nearly so negative in some quarters of the world, and that "derpy" can be seen just as negatively).
Maybe she was named by parents that were outright jerks, and her name was just one in a never-ending series of hateful swipes at one parent by the other, out of spite, and she spent a miserable childhood before being rescued by social services; and she clings to her name, because despite everything, it's the only thing her parents ever gave her that she likes, because she likes the sound.
(Okay, I probably wouldn't have thought of that last one if I hadn't just been watching a CSI Miami episode which involved children.)
Dammit ponyfandom, now you've got me sad-idea-ing.

Derpy and Doctor Whooves as a couple. While I don't object to the good Doctor, I prefer it when he's being used as comedy crossover material, rather than as a straight crossover (and partly because of the whole Doctor thing and the fact that the only companion relationship I've ever agreed with being okay was River Song (who, let's face it, doesn't even need a ponyfied name...))
I mean, I don't go up in arms about it, it's not a game-changer, but I prefer Derpy (and her both daughters, I figure she's a touch older than the Elements) seperately.
Heck, I half-imagine her for being ex-military (maybe an accident) - mostly because the thought of Derpy going all badass is really cool.
(I am still idly trying to come up with a way to marry her two names together in some clever way, but I haven't managed it yet. Watch this space, as they say.)
Of course, I suppose I could just ask the Star-Sergeant, but one feels like that'd be cheating...

I'unno, a friend of mine has been known to object, on more than one occasion, on the grounds that the word "derpy" "comes from ****ing South Park". Except without the asterisks.
Ever since, I've tried to avoid naming that pegasus around her at all.

Does it need to be a male pony? Derpy and Dashie would probably do a really good, really wild routine. And I think Derpy+Lyra (as a temporary thing that Bon-Bon is okay with) would be pretty interesting and new age.

I concede this point, though if it's really an issue of cultural misunderstanding, I would hope that Ditzy is understanding of us and willing to correct our mistakes, rather than bursting into tears and making us feel bad.
