Hello? Any progress on Pony fan art or comic?
Comic must wait another three weeks. Just like Coffee was able to get comics going again once her finals were over, please wait for me. :smallwink:
Anyway after this weekend I'll have a Tales-related non-comic related surprise for you all.
Sweet, can't wait! And thanks, Teutonic.
One week to go. And where's the pony fan art, Purity Ice killer.
It's been three weeks and four days!
Spoiler:smallsmile:We want a comic!
:smallconfused:We want a comic!
:smallfrown:We want a comic!
:smallannoyed:We want a comic!
:smallmad:We want a comic!
:smallfurious:We want a comic!

Correction, it's been 4 days since I've had the free time to work on the comic, and believe me work is being done. :smallwink:
How was college? And are you excited for Xillia?
Yes I am (Collector's Edition) excited for Xillia. College was fun overall, very fun meeting people in an institution of education.
What's this? I told you I was working.
And so I present the Tales of Skit system, which for those of you that don't know, are like small conversations between the characters that serve to add to the personalities of the characters that you wouldn't otherwise get. They can be about any topic, like in Xillia, where they talk about if each of them are dog people or cat people and occasionally break the fourth wall. Stuff like that. :smalltongue:
So expect these little comics every once in a while. And with them, you can see my hand drawn (on the computer) drawings of the characters, and thus how I intended them to look like, kind of.
And you read right, next comic you guys will be getting a world map. I just need to finalize the locations of stuff.
Sweet. Though two things:
1. You should post a link with your newest post, as people may not know it's there at first.
2. Formatting. Try not just making it a vertical page. You don't need that much space.
Right, it's been so long, I forgot. Here it is for those who are just now checking in.
As for the vertical layout, it was the only way I decided that would receive the same effect as an animated movie, sort of, as you would have to read one panel at a time. This was all done to simulate the actual skits from the games. I could do it in comic form, but either all the panels need to be smaller or the comic would have to be bigger. And I personally would like the panels to be large enough that people can actually see the details in the character's faces.
What do you all think? Coffee do you have any ideas? :smallconfused:
Maybe it will help when I do skits in the world, so there will be a background instead of black because they are sleeping at an inn?
You could try something like this maybe.
My general tip: Double space the comic archive so it's easier to hit the right link (especially on a touch screen).
I actually don't know how to make GIFs. That would work though. Though though, I would like to keep this as much in comic form as I can.
@Zweisteine: I'll do that.
I love the comic, but I have a question. Why is #29 drawn in a totally different style from all the others so far?
It's a skit. They're quite common in the "tales of" games. They mostly expand upon some topics, but are optional.
Sorry for not updating yet. I've been enjoying my summer too muchgames games games gamesbut rest assured I am still working on the comic.
The problem I've realized with these last few comics and the current one I'm working on, #30, is that they've been game mechanic heavy, and so it's been hard to craft a true Tales JRPG world experience being only one person instead of an entire creative and design team, and having only half planned these things from the time I initially came up with them, taking the time to mostly refine them is what made the skit comic take a while as I had to sit down for stuff like figuring out what kind of expressions Ben and Aria would need, etc, and then drawing them.
So please sit tight, once these "game" comics are over we'll get back to "story" comics and the comics should come out much faster.
I can tell you my love for this will still be strong after the games of summer have gone...
In other words, I can be patient. I know how hard it is to plan these things from experience, and I expect the comic will be worth the wait.
Welp, you guys are getting a pixelated Paint.net world map until I figure out how to redraw the map in my fancy drawing program. Comic within the next couple of days guys. Also in this time I've gotten a lot of plot written up. So far confirmed is the first "third" of the game/comic's story.
Sorry, not in a couple of days, I meant now.
Next comic will be in the works when I find my notebook, and even then, Tales of Xillia comes out next Tuesday.
I am so ready to do the Tales of Xillia happy dance! And nice update; I'm about to do mine now.
Wow! That's quite a map. I look forward to seeing it explored some more.
So while I'm enjoying my Tales of Xillia Collector's Edition, I need to say it now. No matter how close my comic may seem to Xillia, I swear I came up with some of the Revelia stuff before I even knew about Xillia. Heck, I was planning/brainstorming this comic when word got out that this game was coming out in Japan back in 2011. So yeah, it may not seem like a big deal, but at least in years to come when people notice similarities I can point them back to this post.
