Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Ozymandius
"He should have been back hours ago. Something must have gone wrong."
He then waits out the front for the two to arrive. When they do he sighs. "There have been two more casualties." He waits for it to sink in before it clarifies. "Sparks, and... you're daughter."

Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
The Midnighter
"If this is some sick ****ing joke, Veidt, I will turn your body inside out. I will make what I did to Wallenquist seem like a beginners guide to S&M. I will make the Nazi's look like they followed the Geneva Accords. You better hope you aren't lying, Veidt. Because somebody is going to pay for this. And if its you, run."
Jenny Sparks
"You know what..." she says, wiping the tears from her face.
"Send me up to the Carrier. I'll check on them myself. Rose and the Doctor should be the only ones there now, so I'll be safe."
-
Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Ozymandius
"I wouldn't joke about that." He says softly. "Jenny was shot by a mob sniper. She was giving an ill advised presentation declaring our war on the mob. I may not be as inventive as you, but I am sure I taught him the error of his ways. As for your daughter, well I cannot explain how that happened, but Jenny seemed convinced. It's the only time I've ever seen her cry."
Jenny Sparks
"Are you sure that's a good idea? We don't know how he killed her yet..."
-
Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
The Midnighter
The Midnighter visibly sags. The world's deadliest man, utterly and completely vulnerable.
"No...no it can't be, Veidt. She was our daughter. Our wonderful little Jenny..."
Jenny Sparks
"I am. I have nothing to lose, now. I had a purpose, and now I don't. I was brought back to life temporarily, and I find out its permanent. And there is a chance, however slight, that the Doctor can save Jenny. I have to do it, Adrian. I...have to save her. You say you're past your prime? I wasn't born like the rest of you. I was born to be part of Earth's immune system for 100 years, and when my time was up, I passed that duty on to my successor. An unbroken line since the dawn of the human race. Jenny Stone to Jenny Fire to Jenny Revolution. I had a purpose, Adrian, grafted into my very bones. Now, I don't have a clue."

Travis starts to bang on the bathroom door saying,"Hurry up man, I gotta take a piss."
***
"You put it in such poetic terms, I imagine you'll be the next Poe. All right, I'm in, but there are a couple questions I possess at this moment:
Who killed Wallenquist?
Who's tryin to kill Magliozzi?
Is the Cullen family involved in this at all?"
-
Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Travis
Sam pushes past you, a hagged expression on his face.
Jules
"Wallenquist was killed by the Authority, or at least they take credit. They have declared war on the entirety of the mob, and have already racked up quite a count. But that no longer concerns either of us. As for the Cullens, I believe Mr Wallenquist had an adviser by that name. I am unaware what happened to him.
Manuel is telling the truth. He's not a good person, he is a sadist and has almost no scruples. But he does have a kind of honor, he never touches children, never lies, and never breaks his word.
"We will attempt to restore order. Hopefully we can keep things under control before the Cullens return."

Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Ghost Rider
The flamming chain spins stopping most of the bullets, a couple make it through but the lead melts when in contact with Blaze's internal hellfire. When will the world learn? Gun, don't work on things that obviously aren't quite natural. When the thugs run out of bullets and start to reload Blaze takes a deep breathe and exhales a cone of hellfire at the gangsters.

"What can you tell me about Nicodemus?" the infant nightmare asks it's fallen angel.

Kirby
He is powerful. But his power is a trap, it makes him secure, he doesn't fear enough. He is too accustomed to victory. And his immortality is tied to the noose around his neck. Remove that, and he is as mortal as anyone else.
The demon says softly. He plays games, and underestimates his enemy. That is all I can tell you. Be careful, he is a dangerous opponent.
Ghost Rider
A few more of them run. This time the psychopath doesn't kill them, he's busy focusing on you.
The flame catches him, sending him knocked of his feet as the fat melts, and smoldering over the others, at that, they finally do run, leaving you a clear path up the stairs, and into a forty room mansion.

Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Ozymandius
"I can't tell you anything, I can give you no comfort." He says, the closest thing to emotional response you've ever seen him give.
Anderson
He gives up questioning her. He gives her another smile, then walks out of the room, nodding to the two guards he terrified half an hour ago. He stops on his way out, and smiles at the police chief who is holding an icepack to his black eye, apologizes sincerely for his earlier actions, claims to have been angry and not in control of himself, and begs forgiveness. Then he hits him again, hard enough to smash his jawbone to pulp and knock him off his feet. He'll probably never recover. "She's bruised. Ye've had someone beatin' her. Tha' stops now. Or Ah come back, an' finnish ye off." He promises, then walks out.
His destination is Vedit enterprises. It's time he took a hand in things.

The Midnighter
The deadliest man on Earth staggers inside the lobby, and collapses onto a bench. His husband does likewise. The two are inconsolable.
Jenny Sparks
Jenny approaches Veidt's teleportation machine. Flicking her hand at the control panel, it springs to life. She selects the most recent destination(the Carrier), and steps on board. She had a Doctor to find.
Nicodemus
In a merry mood, Nicodemus hums a Amazing Grace under his breath.

Kirby
I don't know anything. Nor does Anduriel. The spirit replies. My knowledge is limited to what was and what may be, not what never was.
Everyone in the car feels it at the same time. The smell of smog, corruption, smoke and ash. Pollution, and derelict neglect. In a very real way, that smell represents you arriving in the city.
You steer into an abandoned amusement park of sorts outside the city, where several tar pits are located and dinosaur bones were excavated at some time. Concrete statues of dinosaurs were put up by the owners to draw crowds.
Light Yagami
The thought of living with her sounded repulsive, but at the cost of being God of the New World, it was a small price to pay. She of course jumped for joy the moment he asked.
Misa Amane was actually pretty cute. A real doll with an ultra-girlie attitude. At first sight, you would never guess she was the second Kira. Which was why she was so useful to Light.
“Light!” She said happily on the phone. “You haven’t called in so long! I’ve missed you! I did what you asked, and nobody suspects. I even keep working on my career to throw off attention. That’s still what you want, right?”
Ghost Rider
Your bike drives up the stairs easily. On the third floor, you hear voices ahead, who don't seem to suspect you are outside. And now, a choice. Interupt them and hope for the best, or see if yuou can hear anything useful.
Anderson
The building looms ahead. You recognize all three of the men outside. Superheroes.

Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Ozymandius follows them in.
Anderson
The priest kicks the door down on general principle, and stares at the two heroes. “Fancy that. Ah havenae seen ae city go this far to hell since London burned.” It’s a sore spot, with them more then him, as he got what he wanted, a dead Alucard. The major is in all the history books as the greatest villain ever to live, and all the heroes who tried to intervene can testify to that personally.
“Seems tae me that ye could use ae hand.”

Nicodemus
((Strange minds think alike.))
Jenny Sparks
You are teleported within. The main room, where instruments are watched, things run and information received. I have not seen the interior, so if you want a better description I cannot help you. Nobody is anywhere to be seen.

Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Light
"Of course dear, you're doing great." She's useful; remember that, "I'm working here in Sin City so it's been rather hard to get a breather to catch up with you, I need you to do some research on an anarchist that hijacked a TV station here, find a picture if you can. He's the wild card in all this. If we can get rid of him, then it'll be safe enough that you can fly down, if you want too." Give her incentive, keep her brain on the job, brace for deafness in 3...2...1.

Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Light Yagami
It's easy to forget that Misa is smart in her way. And yet it always leers it’s head when you start to forget it. “I’ll do what can, of course. I'll do anything yu ask. But there will be much less information over this end. Besides, I don’t have your flair when it comes to this” She goes quiet for a moment. “Are you sure you don’t want me to come over now? I have the Shinigami eyes, so if you can arrange another meeting I’ll be able to get his name easily that way.”
-
Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Jenny Sparks
Sparks looks around at the main room. More of a lounge really. Metal floors and walls and ceiling, the latter two honeycombed and crisscrossed with wires and piping and Lord knows what else. A pair of couches stare out at the fourth wall, which is made entirely of what one could believe was glass, but was actually something else entirely. Jenny had asked the Engineer about the substance once...and then fell asleep a minute into her explanation.
"Hello? Rose? Doctor? Anybody bloody home?"
The Midnighter
He doesn't look up at the Paladin.
"Use a hand, Anderson? My daughter is dead. The whole world is going to need a hand."
Nicodemus
"Oh..." Nicodemus shudders. "Now this is a city I can look up to. If only the world was like this..."
Getting out of the car, Nicodemus walks over to stare at one of the dinosaurs.
"Alright, chaps. Time for all of your lessons on magic 101. Except we start with something a bit more advanced than making light. Who's up for some necromancy?"

Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Light
"He wears a mask, unfortunately. However, you're right, it would probably be easier with you down here to get his mask off." Or try to get the cop to shoot him. Or tackle him. It was nice to have actual muscle, rather than having to rely on the physical abilities of a college student who keeps in good shape.

Rose Tattoo
Click.
Click.
Click.
The door slides open, to reveal Rose dressed in a wine red jumpsuit and plenty of customized armament.
“Hello, Jenny.” She says, her mouth beginning to quirk a little. High used to tell her that she had a beautiful voice. Throaty and warm, like a promise of rest for a weary traveller. Of course she was tempting, seductive. She was the killing instinct. Everyone feels it, gnawing at them. And so many give in.
Anderson
The priest raises an eyebrow at their hopelessness. "Well, lads, Ah may be wrong, but last I checked that’s what ye two decided tae do with yerselves. Far from it for this humble preacherman to tell you how to live your lives,” His voice becomes venomous as his words brush over their chosen lifestyle “But if ye call yerselves heroes the least ye can dae is get up an’ fight.”

"The shriek, raised, almost hysterical voice, and squealing comes then as she begins taliking and you try to blot out the sound. When at last she hangs up, it occurs to you that perhaps Misa is mannipulating you, in her way, but dismiss it. No mortal mannipulates god, after all.
Your phone rings.

Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
The Midnighter
The Midnighter looks up. There is more than a hint of madness in his eyes.
"You run an orphanage when you aren't killing monsters, Anderson. What would you do if every single on of those children was murdered?"
Jenny Sparks
"Rose." Jenny is on her guard now. Her hands drift by her sides, and she inhales the scent of the Carrier. The damn thing was powered by a baby universe. She had more than enough juice to work with here.
"Where's the Doctor?"

Sighing, Kira clicks the phone over, "Yes?"

Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Light Yagami
It's the police officer. "Wallenquist is dead. The mob have declared war on the Authority. And the Authority has declared war on them. Based on my count, there are about three hundred dead before Midnighter got bored. About two thirds were gangsters, the rest were unlucky. The colonel has taken control on Wallequist's end, and used some old contacts to bring in what seems to be half the IRA, which he is running like a private army. He controls the docks, the projects and most of the rest of town already. Should I kill him?”
-
Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Anderson
The priest chuckles. "Easy. Ah'm a killer, laddie. Ah happen to hae a conscience, and something o’ a higher purpose, but that doesn’t change wha’ Ah am. An’ joost because a monster looks like a man he dinnae become one. Without one single discrepancy, ah’d put him before a higher authority then either o’ us.”
“Ah dinnae care fer ye, sinner. Either o’ ye. But the lord works in unfathomable ways. Perhaps he see’s somethin’ tha’ Ah dinnae. An’ so Ah’ll work wit’ ye, but only because Ah’m nae selfish enough to let this city die joost because ah dinnae like it’s saviours.”
Rose Tattoo
She doesn't answer you directly. Instead, something spills out that has been held within a long time.
"I am who I am. So are you, and you are loved for it. While I am hated. Feared. Why? They made me. Does the animal think of murder? No. I am a human invention. And yet they can’t bear the sight of me, can’t bear how pretty I am. How tempting I am. Because they see me in their hearts, and accepting me means accepting themselves for what they are. Sheep. All of them."
"High was... different. He listened. He saw. He didn't agree and perhaps he didn't even understand but he saw. Yes... he was rare. A giant among sheep."
"Bendix. Another mistake, mayhaps. He seemed strong enough to listen... Or maybe I simply convinced myself of that. Does Death get lonely, I wonder..."
"Or am I just so deperate for acceptance? I can't answer that. I spoke to him. He never did see it fully and yet it touched him. Fueled the spark of madness. Twisted him.
Little after all."
"But he understands. He see’s me for what I am. And he accepts it. Doesn’t try to make me anything else. He found a place for me in this world." At last she answers. "Doctor is alive. Stabilized. But brain dead. He’ll be dead in a month, but until then he’ll simply use up air. Try to fix him, put the pieces back together and you'll just make things worse. I should give him a gift. The only one I can. But I won’t. He doesn’t want me to."

Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Light
"Yes, but make sure it seems to have been done by a person, rather than the Note. We're going to need you back soon. Very soon. The anarchist is turning out to be a bigger problem than expected, and I'm going to need you to cover for the weakness the note has; namely that since we don't have a face, we can't kill him with it. We're going to need your skills, rather than the power I provide, to beat him. I have an associate coming to the city. Despite her...unique attitude, she is...competent in these types of situations. I'll pick her up, and I'll introduce her to you when we arrive back at the apartment."
-
Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Jenny
"Rose..." Jenny's face is growing pale.
"If who you're talking about is who I think it is...he's just using you. Like Harry did, remember him? Remember how he made you his weapon, under his control? His, his, always his. He's just using you. When he's done with you, he'll discard you like I discard a bad one-night stand."
Jenny realizes something then. What Quantum said about the Terrorist, and roses.
"Rose...What happened to my successor?"
The Midnighter
The Midnighter smiles then.
"Let's gut the monsters in this town then. Starting with the mob, ending with our friend the Terrorist."

Sylar looks up, taking several minutes to do so, "Fine. Let's begin with that than." After that brief sentence, he gets up, out of the car.

Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Anderson
"Noo tha's the Bringer o' war I've heard aboot." He says, with a far too wide smile.
Ozymandius
Ozymandius has distanced himself from the three, and instead returns to where he left Jenny. He is unsupprised to find her gone. With a quickening pace, he makes his way towards the teleporter.
Rose Tattoo
"She was dying. Left her body and lost her way back. So I set her free. Just a kiss. That's all it takes." You wonder if she is mad. "It's my nature. It is who I am. He is using me. Like everyone does. But it's not just that. He is using me the way I am meant to be used. Accepting what I am, not fearing it. Not like you."
-
Re: Twilight IV: No More Heroes!
Light
"Yes sir." He says and hangs up.
He arrives an hour later, parking his car carefully, locking it in the way people who live in this city tend to learn to, and walks up the steps. "He'll be dead tomorrow morning." He says by way of greeting. "Killed by one of his girls. God help me, this sort of work makes me sick." He adds under his breath, then takes of his coat, and the magnum he wears in a shoulder holster. "I don't suppose you know how to contact this anarchist? A number? A name? An adress? Some... psycho's anonymous club?"
Misa will be here in three hours.
