Keep in mind you may need to restart steam if it not located under tools.
Yeah, but honestly you would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't play at least to level 20 alone with zero spoilers.
However. I will say one thing because I wish I had know this when I started playing.
Unless you REALLY want a hard game, make sure that you become passable in either archery or attack magic. You don't need to specialize in either but make sure you buy a few ranged spells and/or carry a bow and some arrows (I suggest bow and arrow because 50% of the enemies have about 20 free weightless arrows)
Edit: Forgive me I just got home from work at 10 pm. I suppose you are talking about the creation kit and not skyrim itself.
I encountered a fun glitch. I've only done it once, but here's how it happened.
I was carrying Dawnbreaker in my left hand and Dragonbane in my right, when I got the urge to play a new character. So I went through the start, and went into the tower with the Stormcloak guy. I took the war axe and equipped it in my right hand, and when I unsheathed it, I had dawn breaker in my hand. It wasn't in my inventory, and when I equipped something else, it was gone.
Has anyone else experienced this glitch?
There is a huge "Hints" post somewhere.
Apart from that, to avoid spoilers:
The leveling is much better than in Oblivion (and even FO3), but you should make sure that keep up one combat skill (be it magic or mundane). If you ONLY level things like alchemy or lockpicking, you will end up behind.
Also, to expand on what LordShotGun said: never mind Destruction magic, ALWAYS carry a bow and arrows. Even if you are an expert at destruction magic. Potshots, and sneak attacks can save your life or at least make an initial assault so much easier. Plus it allows you to continue ranged attacks when you run out of Magica.
Try to get a follower early, it makes the initial dungeons much easier. Also remember that you can improve their equipment by giving them things that are better than what they carry already.
Personal opinion: Neither horses or dogs are worth the trouble: the former forces a delay if you are attacked (you cannot fight on horseback and have to dismount) and the latter is basically a grey ragged dorstop that prevents you from retreating or avoid traps when you most needs it.
Nope, although it sound fun. I wonder if you could have "saved" the sword by quickly dropping it and pick it up again?
My game has been relative glitch free (except for the fact that installed a beta display driver so now it crashes about once a day, but I did it on purpose to get better graphics AND higher framerate). However all of a sudden the other day outside Markath I ran into the entire Companions. All members, even the cleaning lady, was marching down the highway towards Markath. Then it took about an ingame 3 days before they were back at their HQ...
I have indeed played the normal game quite thoroughly, as my level 50 heavy armor + 2-hander character evidences quite well. I was hoping for some advice on the Creation Kit, but it seems it came out even more recently than expected, and the official tutorials have gotten me a good start. I think I'll look at making a nice big tower somewhere random on the landscape.
The CK is finally out? I might need to add some actual bookshelves to the Archmage Quarters then. My house in Markarth is nice, but as the Archmage I should really be living in Winterhold.
If you're not familiar with elder scrolls editors here is one that took my a while to figure out back in the day: To move an object along the z-axis hold down z and move it, x-axis is x and y-axis is y.
Also remember to link doors with teleports and if you have any specific questions I may or may not be able to answer them.
Not exactly... the signing of the white gold concordat and the coming of alduin is too long apart to be truly connected. so to be precise, it could be the fading faith in Talos (faith and open worship are not necessarily the same), because of the outlawed talos worship etc. which is holding Alduin back, although atm Dovahkiin is the new lock on the box for alduin even if Dovahkiin didn't absorb Alduin's soul...
Guys go into the steam workshop and get Posh Mudcrabs. Posh. Mudcrabs.
Posh mudcrabs is nothing, everyone should get this mod.
Thanks guys. I got the next zombie spell as well as conjure frost atrinach (Or how do you spell it). I realized why I didn't see it before. Why do they grey out every option of everyone of "What do you got for sale?":smallannoyed:
I think that when you start designing a room full of hawks just because you can means it's time you need to take a break from the editor.
Also anyone figured out a good way to make an npc or a corpse sit into a chair? I'm trying to make the havok sim do it for me but that's way to much work and there must be a simpler way.
EDIT: Figured it out. I need to hold alt while havok is enabled and drag a body part. It's still a pain to get them in a chair but easier then try to get them to fall into one.
No... let the inspiration take over! LAUGH MANIACALLY AND CONTINUE BUILDING AND BUILDING UNTIL SKYRIM IS REMADE IN THE TWISTED IMAGININGS OF YOUR MIND!
Sorry about that... It's just I'm mildly regretting not getting it for the PC...:smallfrown:
And only having a laptop.
I found a mod I am interested in: Height Adjusted Races with True Giants
Anyone tried this?
No choice in a video game has ever been more black and white for me. Screw the Empire. They tried to chop my head off for no damn reason and I hold grudges.
I'm thinking about starting a new character when I get the time. I want to start using mods this go around, anyone have good ones?
I like mods that add content, that give me something to do, or that make things feel a little more new.
Wars in Skyrim looks promising, and I liked the look of the mod that makes an underground basement between all your houses.
The character will probably be a magic user, are there any good mods for magic?
For the curious, here's a comparison article from GameSpy with before/after screenshots from the new high-res pack:

I'm thinking I'm going to pass, myself. The difference (for me) isn't enough to bother with the 3GB downloading and longer load times. The FPS hit doesn't seem to be much, though, according to those tests...
On a werewolf-related topic:SpoilerCan someone tell me why I'm so squishy as a werewolf? I suspect it's due to no longer having heavy armor or the ability to block, but I wonder if I'm doing something wrong. If there's more than one or two enemies around I get taken down pretty quickly. Feeding doesn't seem to heal me.
So, I'm trying to find where this coral claw goes to. What's the quest name for it?
Also, while going up a mountain to visit a shrine south of winterhelm, I find a pit I drop down into. After falling, falling, falling. I find that I'm trapped at the bottom of a cave and the only way out is to foght through a temple of Faulner.:smallannoyed:
Also, is there an easier way to find the individual teacthers at the college then just stumbling around randomly? I'm trying to find the destruction teacher.
Personally I use a lot of mods, but these I can definitely recommend. As you see I am not much for adding more content, because 99% percent of those mods tends to be overpowering the PC (Oh look you have a full Daedric Armor from start in your free mansion you just installed, etc):
1: A Quality World Map - It's a replacement for the world map with all roads marked on it.
2: XCE - Xenious Character Enhancement. A quality mod for better looking people. NOT a nude mod.
3. Xenious Better Beast Races. As above but well... for those people :smallwink:
4. All three of HeadBomb's crafting mods
5. Less Touchy Lockpicking Lite. Makes lockpicking on the PC SLIGHTLY less difficult. Still not as easy as on the consoles, so it is not unbalanced in any way.
6. No Respawn - Cleared Only. Sets the respawn time for zones that officially get the "cleared" mark to 999 days.
7. Realistic Lighting With Customization. Exactly what it says.
8. SkyUI. Combined with
9. Better Sorting gives a much better UI
I have also just downloaded the Height Adjusted mod I asked about above. I don't know how it will work out yet.
