I haven't got the impression that Tarquin really cares about him enough for this to happen - he did seem pretty ready to let Malack kill him. Although, now that I think about it, that scene could be interpreted as Tarquin just trying to get Nale to tell him the info about the gates.
Edit: Sorry, he did actually say, "I have no interest in letting my son die."

No, I hope him to die this time.

Nale is unarmed, deaf, wounded, shot with arrows, being attacked by Belkar (who is immune to suggestion this time), and his only truly loyal support has been banished for twenty-four hours. Between Tarquin, Malack, the Order of the Stick and possibly Team Evil, will Nale be able to survive until Sabine returns?
Yes or
No?
Yes
He will survive until Sabine returns.
-
Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Yes, I expect him to survive.
-
Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
No, between Belkar savaging him, Tarquin not really caring about him and Malak desiring his screaming death, I think he'll be screwed until Sabine plane shifts back and casts a resurrect.
-
Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
No, I think Nale is a goner. At least until Sabine raises him.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
I'm not playing a long shot, so No. I think he's toast. The Linear Guild is in a bad spot and he's the worst off.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
No.
I was on the fence until I read Sabine's unheard goodbye, missed it the first time.
It felt mildly unnerving and foreshadow-y. Seems like the kind of thing one should absolutely never, ever say prior to separating from your loved one in storyland, even (maybe especially) if it goes unheard or unappreciated.
-
Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Yup. I believe it would be hard to just kill him off.

That did occur to me, but I'm utterly convinced Tarquin will die here, and I think that with two books to go, we're a bit early for a total purge of secondary villains.
I suppose it's possible that he might die here and be raised later, but I'm not sure that's likely.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
No. Just a gut feeling, but I can't see his usefulness to the story anymore, and that is not just becuase I don't enjoy his arcs. I don't see how he can get out of it alive.
On the other hand, unless otherwise prevented, I can see Sabine going out of her way to have him resurrected. So we might see where her loyalty really lies soon.
And I agree with PebbleInTheSky, Sabine's parting decloration feels like a forshadow of Nale's demise. (It was like saying "it has a million in one chance", "trust me", "don't worry, nothing's going to happen", or "hey, watch this". Doom all around.)

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
I don't know much about the effects of Holy Word, so I don't know if there's any penalty for how long it'll take Sabine to Plane Shift back. I think yes, Nale will see Sabine again before he dies.
EDIT: Just found out that she's gone for 24 hours. I'm not totally certain he'll last that long, so I'm changing my vote to no. And TBH, I think I'll be glad when he dies. I think he can be funny, but now he's just irritating.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Yes, he'll survive. And I told you Tarquin wasn't affected.

Will Nale be able to survive until Sabine returns?
Yes: 10 - 40.00%
No: 15 - 60.00%

Will Team Evil arrive before the OoTS/LG fight is resolved? Yes or No?
-
Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Yes, and hopefully they squash Tarquin like the bug that he is.
-
Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
No, mostly. They might come in with only one or two LG members remaining, namely Tarquin and either Nale or Malack. So I suppose I should go with Yes.
I expect the IFCC to put something into motion before Team Evil shows up, though, thanks to Qarr's quick notification.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
No, I think it is unlikely that Team Evil will be even 10 miles away from Girard's Gate before the fight between LG and OotS is over.
-
Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
That really is the big question, isn't it? When will Team Evil show up? It's tough, because you could make a case either way... So I'll just guess...
No, because Roy is proving to be a brilliant tactician, and it would detract from his victory if RC shows up and Implodes Tarquin before Roy or Elan can execute their plans.
-
Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
No.
I can see the Order winning the battle, and then being forced to release their LG captives to help fight Xykon.
-
Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
The current battle? No, I don't think they will. The overall conflict between the two over Girard's Gate might be a different story, but I don't see reason to expect Xykon and friends forced labor to show up in the middle of this fight.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
No.
Eugene will haunt Roy and if the battle will be still on by then, it will finish before Xykon can intervene.

In Return of the Jedi, Han talks about Lando taking the Millennium Falcon with "I just got a funny feeling, like I'm not gonna see her again." Huge potential foreshadowing of the ship not making it out of the Death Star near the end, which I think heightened the drama during its escape. Could be the same thing here. And if so, it's definitely working for me, since I think Nale's going down.
EDIT: Also, I think that yes, they will arrive, for two reasons - I think a three-way free-for-fall would be pretty interesting (as much as I dislike Tarquin, he is a decent force in his own right, and when reunited with Malack would make a formidable team in such a situation), and because everyone else is voting no. Slightly more the former than the latter.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
No, they will not make it.
-
Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Yes, Nale will survive. While he has his own arc and adding Tarquin into the mix was important character development, he's still a major player, and a great source of competition and drama with Elan, and I don't think he's outta the game yet.

Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
Yes. I believe that Team Evil will wonder in at some point to shift the balence, perhaps even change the outcome. No real reason -- just a gut feeling.
-
Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
No, not before the end of the current ambush. But some of the gild will still surely be alive when they'll arrive.
-
Re: OOTS Polls (feat. Favourite NPC Tournament)
The Linear Guild (or at least Tarquin and Malack) will certainly still be active in the struggle for the Gate when Team Evil arrives. But will this current skirmish still be ongoing? Hard to say, but I'll guess no.

This is exactly what I meant.
