Re: Omnitopia: The Playground
about friday?
I LIED
You dont need a carpenter to build a cabinet 2: from potion seller Chad
Spoiler
Show
hello there! didnt know you got in.
maybe you would like to buy some Sagh Jue nara?
its an insta kill potion with positive effects!
no? well okay then.
So i was a potion seller at the Cabin where the cabinet was. i sold many potions and got upgraded to tier 5! how cool is that? i was only tier 0 before that!
the wizards bought brewing stuff and potions from me, and life was happy.
life is STILL happy, but anyway....
The cabinet started as an adventuring party, to show the world that only wizard partys can beat your party.
then they developed into a club, and built the clubhouse that was named "The cabin". as they got larger and more powerfull, and were considered "a clan", they built a multi-dimensional cabinet which acted as their meeting room.i never realy saw whats going on there, but they all came there at regular times.
so they got bigger and bigger, and my money pouch got deeper and deeper,
until they decided they need to have a bigger base.
then they moved everything: The books, the sellers (Includeing me!) and even the cabinet to their new floating tower.
The cabin was left to crumble, but then a old man took it as its own.
he calls himself "The h37mit".
So anyways now they are the most powerfull arcane assosiation over the server, and are takeing over any smaller groups that are trying to rise and shine.
Now if you dont mean to buy anything go away!

Re: Omnitopia: The Playground
The comic is now on hiatus for the next week or two. I'm semi-homeless at the moment (read as: I have a home [actually a condo] but I can't live in it due to a burst water heater and the replacing of the living room floor and the hardwood kitchen and bathroom floors).

Re: Omnitopia: The Playground
Aw, that sucks. :smallfrown: I hope you get things fixed up soon.

Re: Omnitopia: The Playground
lol, that was pretty funny SD.

Making three-dimensional characters is, surprisingly, easy. There are numerous steps I use in the process, which I shall list below.
Step One: You come up with a base concept, like an arrogant wizard.
Step Two: You design numerous personality traits. Perhaps this character is passive-aggressive to people, or he he's always nice and polite.
Step Three: You figure out how this character interacts with the other main characters. Perhaps this wizard is best friends with the cleric due to the fact they both cast spells; but he dislikes the fighter, accusing him of being a moron who doesn't think before he acts.
Step Four: You come up with the character's. Did the character have a happy childhood filled with apple-pies, happy parents, and a dog named Rex? Or did he have an unhappy childhood with a father who ran off, an alchoholic mother, and severe poverty?
Step Five: You come up with the character's goals. Does he want world domination, money, or something else?
Step Six: Edit your character.
And bam, you have a three-dimensional character. I'll post how the process on how I created a character in a book I'm writing later.
I posted that in a thread in the OoTs section yesterday. I figured I'd repost that here in case any of you guys would find it interesting. And now, here is the tale of how I came up with, then totally retooled, a character in the novel I'm writing.
The Tale of how I came up with, then totally retooled, a character in the novel I'm writing:
Spoiler

Now, this tale of the creative process starts years back when I was writing out the novel as a television show instead of well, a novel. The character was named Thomas; and I created him on the spot when I decided the main character, Charlie, should have a brother. I quickly came up with the base personality traits for Thomas: he's an idiot and slightly power-hungry. Then I came up with his super-power: the ability to pilot any vehicle.
I decided that Thomas would first appear in the third episode, and that he was working for the bad guy organization, cleverly titled...The Organization. At the end of his debut, Charlie blackmailed Thomas into becoming a good guy and joining the team.
As I started writing the show further, and eventually made the transition from television show to novel, I realized something. Thomas was the most boring main character out of the five protagonists. Compared to some of the other characters, like his sarcastic Casanova brother or the scientist with a massive god complex, Thomas was boring.
So, I started thinking of ways I could change him around. And then, after watching a few episodes of The X-Files, it hit me. I changed Thomas around; and instead of being a power-hungry moron, he turned into an extreme conspiracy theorist. I also changed his power from driving any vehicle to running at super-fast speeds. The result? A character as memorable as the other four members of the team, if not even more so.

Re: Omnitopia: The Playground
Sooo... Maxios, any news about this?

Re: Omnitopia: The Playground
On the water heater situation? At best, I'll be at this hotel for two more weeks. At worst, I'll spend my entire damn summer sleeping on a couch that turns into a bed.
On the comic? My father brought the downstairs computer here last week, so thankfully I can now update it. I'm currently working on a few new strips.
On the novel? I've stopped writing it at the moment so I can instead work on a eight-page script to submit to this small indie publisher called Dark Horse Comics.

That's cool. Believe it or not, I'm actually looking at the spine of a manga volume published by Dark Horse Comic, right here on the desk/book self that I keep my laptop on. They seem like cool guys. Good luck.

Re: Omnitopia: The Playground
Yeah, better nuke the zombies before they get to town. Otherwise, you'll save Spawncity, but destroy it in the process. That could make tourism... interesting.
"Welcome to scenic Spawnsmokingcrater! The finest smoking crater that used to be a city in the entire server!"

Re: Omnitopia: The Playground
You could nuke them.... Send in people immune to fire or mana or nuke damage then nuke it. Combat XP + Awesome XP + Kill All Zombies.

The sign for Joe's Bar is hilarious, and I just love the bit with Ralcos. It's nice to have those funny moments at dark times. Keeps things from getting too bleak.

Woot! Finally finished this! Now comes the waiting for new strips

Yo Maxios how's the comic going?
-
Re: Omnitopia: The Playground
Quite well. I've been making some new templates, and I've been working on finishing Omnitopia: Zed Dead on the Sandswept forums. Basically, it's a bonus chapter set before Chapter 4 and revolves around Maxios fighting zombies in a small fishing village. It should be done by Friday.

Extremely. Let's just say that there's a chance that if one of these projects goes well, my life will change forever in a good way. Also, new strip will be out tomorrow.

Re: Omnitopia: The Playground
Oh, good for you! I look forward to seeing how things turn out. Good luck, and I'm sure the update will be worth the wait.
