Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
...Huh. Kind of a iffy episode. Main flaw was a logical one: why did Finn not bring his sword?
Actualy, the Barn was just a extended joke about MMO bosses, wasnt it?
Also,
Stay frosty my friends.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
If it was I didn't catch it. I didn't care for the ending, but I thought it was a good episode.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
I thought it was okay. Not great, but not terrible.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
Care to explain that one Pokonic? I don't really get it either but I'd like to hear what makes you think that.

I think the entire plot was an excuse to have Jake and Finn get in a fight and settle that yeah Finn can fight Jake and at least stand his ground.

A bunch of guys get around a giant boss creature that does not attack until everyone else does, quickly wipes the floor with everything in sight, and then goes back to not doing anything at all and waiting for something to come along and fight it.
It's a (very large) strech.
Also, one would think that Finn has learned that you dont need to bring a sword everywhere you go. I mean, last time was the.....Nightosphere?

I hadn't considered it, but now that you've brought it up--it does kind of work. Not just what you said here, but also the fact that Finn kept saying they had to defeat the barn for their reputation. This reminded me of those 'unbeatable' MMORPG bosses, like the ones in FF11 (Absolute Virtue or something like that) that would make the news from time to time. The only reason anyone even tried to fight them was for bragging rights. But generally the only way to defeat them was to use exploits or glitches--you know, be cheap.

Well. I had fun with the episode.

It WAS a fun episode. After world-ending romances and omnicidal liches and being kidnapped by living horrors and family dramas, it's nice to just get an episode about Finn and Jake being violent and kinda stupid while also being funny, while recurring background characters do their thing. It's nice, it's light, it helps internal continuity, and best of all it stops the crazy internet people from thinking up brain meltingly stupid theories.

That episode was all Shakespearean! I loved it!

It bothers me when they use the DnD alignments so much. I wish they wouldn't mix them in like that.

I loved that. They're just paying homage to their inspiration.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
I found the alignment discussion perfectly captures the tone a player and DM arguing over alignment. And knowing that most of the audience has NO IDEA what they are talking about is just extra hilarious.
Though having Keith David as a DM could be unbearably awesome.
Also I have a problem with the early part of the episode:
Spoiler
Show
You have Finn + Flame Shield + Flame Princess at the same time AND DON'T TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!!!!
For Shame Adventure Time, For Shame!
Total waste of potential there show.

Thats a good point. As long as Flambo just sort of appears when he's needed, why don't they just always do that?

Alingment: To be fair, they have been useing the term since the unalinged ant in the very first episode, so I suppose that some might just chalk up the term to be more wierd gibberish, like half the swear words used in the show.:smalltongue:
As for the not using the flame shield: Finn is still stupid. He has cunning when it is needed, but he's not the smartest human to have ever lived. Fire Princess has no excuse, however.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
I'm looking forward to Finn in contemplation with skull in hand fanart. Don't disappoint me, Internet.

I'm confused. Them getting too close still risks ending the world, right?

Finn stopped it from happening once. He could probably do it again... And since he's got flame shield this time, he wouldn't even have to worry about 3rd degree burns. Totally worth the risk.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
I raise the issue, because the show outright ignored it. Worse I understand the staff is *aware* of the Flambo issue and waved their hands that he's not simply availible all the time to help with the issue. Which is fine, but when it isn't available and they don't take 10 seconds for Finn to go over and share a quick hug (you know ones he's done without threatening the planet) and acknowledging the golden opportunity... the show takes it out of being an issue I can ignore.
Its explainable from a reasonable point, but this does not change it being a damn waste dramatically and emotionally.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
The way Flame Princess popped those balloons, she must be a firebender. And the way Jake and Finn inflated those balloons, they must be airbenders. Please tell me they're descendents of Meelo! Now Finn and Jake can be the leaf!
Also, can we talk more about the awesome Shakespeare references? Please? This show's showing it has tons of culture!

Could be that even if it was used, there's nothing saying that Flambo's fire shield (actualy, one would think if a relitivly low-level fire elemental could do it, the Princess could as wel) could stand up to Flame Princess's flames. Remember, she hurt other elementals in her first apperance with her flames.

We've seen methods of going to alternate worlds and into space. I'd wager if FP and Finn wanted some alone time they'd eventually just find a little pocket dimension with nothing anyone will miss.

Hmm. The Mousetrap and the quote in the vent are obvious, but a third one just hit me--the harmless snake on Finn's shoulder is a reference to how King Hamlet died. Or how he didn't, I guess. Are there any others that I missed?
