Re: [Nexus] Temples of Dalachrech I
Underside Temple
"It is a possibility. But from what I have heard of your adoptive parents, they truly cared for you and supplied a better upbringing for you than you would have received from many parents. My own, for example; I was born to a common, low-ranking drow guard who immediately enrolled me into the Temple of Lolth so she could get back to work and not starve. I was raised with the aim of becoming a priestess, taught how to assassinate and blackmail to raise, fighting my compatriots for food, water, a soft patch of floor; many were the daughters of high-ranking nobles or powerful priestesses, and the priestess charged to looking after us played favourites in the hope of advancing on the ladder. I failed the tests of faith and was driven out, but I became a priestess, just of the wrong deity." Sylvia had parents that cared for her; Charynrae did not. Charynrae isn't jealous; she wouldn't be who she is had she been brought up differently, but she wants Sylvia to appreciate the parents she had and not wish for the ones she should have had.

Hermitage - Eericka
Percival laughs. It comes off as evil, because, well, demonazi, but he's genuinely amused. The soldier tries to seize Eericka's shoulders gently. "Calm down. No one even knew you were here. Do you need food, or water?" Percy leans around Eericka to spy on the now-awake Durant, who waddles over happily to join them. "I see he doesn't mind your company." Indeed, during the night hours, Durant likely attempted to sleep on or near Eericka. Perhaps just for a warm body, but nonetheless, he seems to have taken a shine to her.

Despair nods thoughtfully, wings furling and unfurling somewhat as she thinks.
"I see. It would probably have been wiser to not say that, as I could most likely take you in any fight we might get into, and you could not be assured my reaction would not be violent. But I'm glad you did.
And don't feel too badly about it. Remaining is my choice, not something I am required to do, and you can't be held responsible for that.
In any case... What are you looking for?"

Re: [Nexus] Temples of Dalachrech I
[Riverside Temple]
In the middle of the night, there's a blood curdling scream of pain from the bunks. Those nearby will be able to tell that it's Kail's room the noise is coming from, and those that are quick enough to realize it will remember that Kail has been pregnant for eleven months. It hasn't been an easy pregnancy for anybody; Kail herself has been in near constant pain from carrying a half-demon child, and she's been terse and belligerent with anybody she could have gotten away with it against from the pain. And then the mood swings would take her and she'd apologize or be happy for someone's presence as a comfort. It was chaotic to be near her, and I imagine many simply chose to avoid her after a while.
Still, this isn't normal. Something must have changed for her to be woken in the middle of the night like this, and chances are she's finally going into labor.

Re: [Nexus] Temples of Dalachrech I
Old Hermitage
There's a box with three matches in it beneath the brazier which Toy might find. The potions, however, are not flammable; healing magic is quite stable and is harder to ignite than water.
Riverside
The scream attracts the attention of the two priests in the Temple. Unfortunately, they are both priests; Azurelle left not very long ago for the Hermitage. Defelent the tiefling will unlock the door with his master key if the door is locked. If Kail is giving birth, then both will help however they can; unfortunately, neither has much experience with giving birth but at least, as neither are entirely mortal, the experience both of them have had in the process involved babies that weren't quite mortal. Since they were those babies, however, this is as much help as door on the moon.
-
Re: [Nexus] Temples of Dalachrech I
[Riverside]
The birth will be a long, hard, bloody affair, taking a total of two days to finish completely. Kail will need to be healed from time to time as something ruptures or tears from the thrashing of the child within her. She'll need to be healed every so often to prevent her from dying, and there will likely be a few close calls when she passes out from blood loss, but in the end, the child will be born, likely to nearly bite off the finger of anybody who puts their hands too close to his mouth; he has the baby predilection for sucking on things and gumming them, but also happens to have sharp teeth and a strong jaw. Kail, understandably, will pass out shortly after the child is born if she hasn't died during the birth; if nothing else, the excruciatingly long time the labor takes will allow for someone to come over and help with it that actually knows what they're doing.
The baby boy is very obviously half-dalachrechian demon. He has the horn of a Hercules beetle on his head, a pair of large arms with scorpion pincers on them, and a pair of smaller, more naturally sized arms that end in human hands. His feet end in wicked claws, and he has a beetle's wings coming out of his back. Most of his body is covered by still-soft chitin, that will likely harden and darken over time. Finally, he has a pair of ant mandibles in front of his more human mouth, which by itself is filled with serrated teeth, as mentioned. He, like his mother, will pass out shortly after the birth is finished.

The Temple Slaves will be tasked to help as well, however they can, whilst Omid fetched a midwife. Likely they'll be a rota to ensure there's somebody available at all times; magical healing, of course, is always available. Afterwards, Omid will set about healing Kail to ensure she's healthy and capable of survival. Defelent will heal the baby, feeling more kinship due to his own slight demonic heritage.
Meanwhile, a human man with brown hair and eyes entered the Temple and is heading towards Kail's room.

Kail and the baby will be asleep by the time Blagzrukel arrives, the magical healing of both her and her son taking long strides to making sure they're able to continue living.

Blagzrukel will wait until Kail awakens. His new form isn't familiar to Kail, and she may have changed her mind. He could very well grant the wish now, but if she's changed her mind he might be able to use a new bargain to keep her the same. Not the same price though. Not immediately, anyway; it's too soon.
Inside Temple
The sermon is largely about how pesticides and slug pellets are vile inventions that all good followers of Dalachrech should avoid and refuse to use. It also praises organic farming, as that branch of agriculture always doesn't use chemicals to remove invertebrate threats. It moves on to how people should use mosquito nets and repellent instead of trying to kill the mosquitoes as they are merely trying to assist the next generation by providing them with the protein they need to go. It continues in that and similar veins for some time, however that may not be immediately obvious to Tovpir as he may receive a vision from Dalachrech.

Re: [Nexus] Temples of Dalachrech I
[Riverside Temple]
Two days of pain without sleep has left Kail exhausted out of her mind. The baby, on the other hand, awakens after a few hours, but given that he's a newborn, doesn't take any actions yet beyond starting to cry and flailing about a little. He's obviously hungry, but those teeth would mean he can't be breast fed by Kail.
The demon will have the opportunity to do things with his child while waiting for Kail to awaken. After another two hours or so, Kail will have gotten enough rest that a loud noise could wake her up, and a demonic baby crying would certainly be that. Hopefully, Blagzrukel can find a way to feed him by then.

Re: [Nexus] Temples of Dalachrech I

Toy sighs yet again. She was the one to blame for all of this. Despair could sugarcoat it all she wants! Toy's the one who took her life away.
She should have stood against Azurelle when she had the chance. Her sisters could take care of themselves. But if she left them here to waste away...
Retrospect is 20/20...more often than not.
"I confessed because it was the right thing to do. You might have slain me for it, but then you'd have been the solitary object of all of Azurelle's sadistic appetites. And that's even worse than a swift death. At least with a partner we can divvy up the abuse, although one of us will probably end up squished under the other one in the sleeping quarters."
"You proved yourself a creature of reason before. You chose life over freedom and submitted to Azurelle. I anted up and raised, bluffing with not a hope in the world with the current hand I was playing. I gambled that the next card flipped would save my skin. And for once, luck was on my side."
Toy counters, sliding along the floor on all fours. Aha! Matches! A priceless find! Their worth is relatively nothing what with this structure being stone-based and not wood-based. But if the conclusion of this experimentation is a smashing success...
Toy loots the box of matches and jumps back to her feet.
"Besides bringing Azurelle to her knees? A light. You think those potions over there might be flammable?"

Charynrae's tale has left Sylvia speechless. Absolutely speechless. She cannot reply to something like that! She is but an amateur in the arts of the heart! But when she listens to her heart nothing can go wrong. She knows that much.
So she'll not answer Charynrae without spicy, comforting romantic talk!
And an attempted hug! A bouncy, vivacious hug!
"We could raze that temple, if you'd like. Jussst point me in the right direction and I'll take care of everything. We could cart away all the priestessssesss that were mean to you and get rid of them."
"You sssmell nice, Charynrae. Did I ever mention that? That'sss a property of a good mate. If we ever get that tunnel to the sssurface cleared of thossse wormsss, people will be hitting on you right and left! Everybody with a nose! Ssso, I jussst want to make sssure..."

Evil! EVIL! :smalltongue:
Eericka is confident that she's found a friend in Durant in turn! She would've trusted the Pokemon enough to cave in and allow him to rest on her tummy without complaint when he tried. This conveniently afforded her an excuse to sleep in Percy's bunk all night! She made the bed when she woke up, effectively erasing most signs of its habitation.
"I don't need anything."
Eericka has lived with hunger pangs for her entire life on and off. They're nothing that she cannot handle!
But her stomach can't handle them, obviously. It grumbles like it has a mind of its own!
Eericka eyes her abdomen and attempts to contain the grumbling behind one of her hands.
Smiling warmly, Eericka corrects herself.
"But Durant could use an apple! And while we're in the kitchen, I might as well fix us something to munch on!"

Blagzrukel will silence the baby by slicing the palm of his hand open with a silver knife; he'll attempt to drip his oozing black ichor into the baby's mouth. It might work; it might not. He can't produce milk, being not only male but also not a mammal.
Underside Temple
Charynrae will hug back. "And where do you think I got the spiders from? Spiders are claimed by Lolth, although Dalachrech wants them for Himself, and as Lord of Invertebrates has some in His realm. But I stole these from the Temple, after I became a priestess to Dalachrech. I poisoned the entire Temple water supply, too, and set fire to the nursery after I ensured the doors were sealed with web." Charynrae didn't care about who was in the nursery at the time, besides the low-ranking priestess. So, doubtless, she is responsible for the deaths of children, either through fire or poison.

The baby is voracious, and eats the blood hungrily. He is very small, though, and finishes eating after a short while, falling back into peaceful sleep. Kail will awaken a while later, and will look blearily at Blagzrukel, her tired mind not really registering who he is.

Tovpir appears silent all the time. He doesn't even move, expect when he breaths. The things mentioned in this sermon are new for him. His world wasn't that far in technologie for pesticides and mosquito can't manage to break through his skin unless they have steel needles or better. Percival smiles knowingly, but tries to keep it mild. The demonazi reaches down to pat Durant on the head before he says, "By all means. In fact, while you're there, please start packing up the food as best you can." He shrugs a little. "I'm afraid we have to leave."

"Did we get hit that hard? Are you sure you're uninjured, Percival? I mean, minor cuts and scratches you've acclimated too but they can still get infected if left open and untreated! And what if you've been poisoned! I'd never forgive myself if I lost a patient over something as curable as that!"

"Hello Kail. I don't expect you to recognise me; I have, after all, changed my appearance since last we met. I'm Blagzrukel, and I'm here to carry out my end of the bargain." It's obvious how he fed the baby; his hand is still bleeding that oozing black ichor. When it hits the floor, it quickly sublimes away, leaving an unpleasant stain. "Unless, of course, you'd rather make a new bargain and not deprive a child of his mother by replacing her with a second father."
Inside Temple
Tovpir will have the vision part way through the sermon. The vision is in the spoiler. Spoiler
Show
Tovpir will find himself floating in the air above several rocks in the middle of a dark sea of writhing beetles. Chained to the beetle are several humanoid figures, screaming in pain as the beetles eat their flesh. Tovpir won't stay long, quickly dashing off across the ocean of flesh-eating beetles. It will take a long time to cross; the circumference is finite, but the diameter is infinite, and although the radius is also finite it is much larger than the circumference would make one believe.
When he has crossed the sea of flesh-eating beetles, he'll see an expanse of barren plains, with a row of low, smooth, black hills coming fast towards him. When he's close enough, he'll notice the hills are gigantic beetles marching towards the horizon. After that is more plains, eventually giving way to forest full of more giant invertebrates, primarily arthropods, though certainly not limited to that phylum.
He'll fly through a cloud of locusts large enough to cover most of Europe before emerging from the other side, at the base of a mountain studded with caves; it resembles a termite mound. As he approaches, he'll realise it is a termite mound- one taller than Mount Everest. He'll swoop through a tunnel, flanked on either side by giant termites, ants, wasps and bees, sweeping deeper and deeper into the bowels of the artificial structure, the way lit by bioluminescent snails and beetles on the walls, floor and ceiling.
After what seems an interminably long time, Tovpir will emerge into a vast, well-lit chamber with several statues lining the walls; all are wearing a suit of plate mail made of chitin plates and carry a morningstar whose head is shaped after the telson of a scorpion. At the end of the chamber, is Dalachrech, recognisable from His icon. He is a massive centipede in body, with a head resembling a tiger beetle's with large mandibles, a pair of massive praying mantis-like claws just behind His head. A departure from the icon is present in His tail; He has only one, and it is very large- a sign of immense venomous potential. Dalachrech is appearing such to try and put Tovpir at ease.
Underside Temple
Actually, Charynrae didn't answer because her player somehow skipped the question, alongside all the speech not in size one. But she likely would have evaded anyway, more because whilst she does love Sylvia, she is unfamiliar with monogamy and will likely outlive Sylvia and so feels uncomfortable denying herself future lovers, alongside and after Sylvia. Although she doubts she'll take another female one whilst Sylvia is alive (or at least won't keep her alive afterwards), she doesn't know for certain.
"Well, if you want something to eat, then I'm more than willing to eat alongside you. However, I have just eaten. But there is another appetite I could still satiate." Charynrae accompanies the last sentence by running a hand down Sylvia's spine.
-
Re: [Nexus] Temples of Dalachrech I
[Underside Temple]
Oh! While I had considered the possibility that the passage was overlooked, I went with the more dramatic IC solution! That's what Sylvia would interpret the dodging of questions as, in any case.
But being a priestess of Dalachrech as Charynrae is might impact her life expectancy, I reckon! How many bounties could be collected were a Dalachrechian, dead or alive, delivered to Remnant, Brian, and company? Her life is more at risk than Sylvia's, for the most part, I'd conjecture.
So were Charynrae to take on another female lover while Sylvia still breathed, she'd try her hand at backstabbing Sylvia? The resultant conflict would be well worth the price of admission! Sylvia is by no standard a weak combatant.
"I sssussspected as much!"
Sylvia blushes and attempts to tickle the underside of Charynrae's chin with the tip of her tail.
"You're in luck. I've prepared sssomething that'll hold you over until daybreak."

"I'm fine, Eericka," Percival assures her with a chuckle. Though he does raise his left hand. It appears to be a bit... smokey. "Though I did lose a hand, if you wouldn't mind sowing my real one back on." The demonazi draws the gruesome dismember from his pocket, though it appears to still be twitching. "We're only moving to throw off our attackers. A temporary setback."

Re: [Nexus] Temples of Dalachrech I
Underside Temple
No; if Charynrae took another female lover whilst Sylvia lived, Charynrae would not restrain her cannibalistic instincts with the other lover. They might not appear the first or second time, but it won't take too long before Charynrae eats them. The phrasing could have been better the first time, admittedly.
"Really? I hope you are aware we don't actually use a solar cycle down here. We did, but it got confusing when we discovered that somehow midday for us was half-past three in the afternoon for the surface." It's hard to be certain if Charynrae is telling the truth there. She smiles when her chin is tickled and reaches out to stroke the base of Sylvia's tail.
Inside Temple
Tovpir did not, in point of fact, see Dalachrech's army. He saw various examples of wildlife; I used the term 'marching' to mean that the giant beetles were walking in a vaguely straight line at roughly the same speed. Shortly after seeing Dalachrech Himself, Tovpir will be returned to his own body in the Nexus.
Riverside Temple
"Nothing I can offer. What can you offer yourself? Well, there's giving a child his mother, for one. There's Terrowin, for two; he still thinks about you a lot. But don't worry; I'm not going to ask you to give me another child. I'll ask you to look after my son however you can, and ensure he is properly looked after and trained. Alternately, you can become a man, and I'll give you something else to ensure you look after my son properly." Blagzrukel is unwilling to look after his son, especially as he could be sent back to the Abyss at any time whilst his son is a native to the Nexus and might not be able to leave until fully grown. And when Kail is male again, she may not feel a mother's attachment to her child and then there would be nothing to stop her from giving him away. No demon fully trusts another, let alone trusts a mortal.
-
Re: [Nexus] Temples of Dalachrech I
[Riverside Temple]
Kail takes a long look at Blagzrukel, not saying anything just yet, and then she turns towards the sleeping chitinous child in her arms. For a good while she's completely silent as she looks at the baby boy. Her baby boy. Hers and Blagzrukel's. She had gone through a lot to make sure the child would be born, and born healthy at that. She'd made sure to eat properly, set up his future among the paladins of dalachrech. But... would she feel the same after becoming a man? She had an attachment to the child, a drive to see him succeed. She just went through forty-eight hours of more painful labour than any woman had a right to go through.
But, what did this mean to the child? How would it be, growing up with no parents. Certainly, the Temple of Dalachrech would never abandon him, but Kail had grown up among the temple of Suugan, abandoned as a young boy by her parents. She'd never known them, and she'd always always hated her parents since learning that fact. She had never lacked for kind hands to help her along, but the loathing of her parents had been a seething tumor in her emotions for as long as she could remember.
She couldn't do that to him. She wouldn't. She wouldn't make another person live as hate filled as she had grown up.
"Fine then. I'll stay a woman and take care of him. I'm certain you have a name in mind for him. But in exchange for agreeing to this, I'm changing my wish. You'll come and see him. He will know he has a father that cares about his well being, and brings him things, and will be there for him when he needs it," At this point, she's very nearly crying, but is managing to hold back her tears.

It wasn't that fact which made him thought it's an army. flesh eating bug the size and number of them caused it. They could have just stand aroun he would still have that image in mind. "How about Acanthops? It's a nice name, don't you think?" It's also the name of a genus of praying mantises. "Yes, I agree to visiting and spending some time with him. I'll give him gifts, too. I already have several ideas." Blagzrukel smiles.

Nothing jumps out as being the cause of the vision, not immediately anyway. The main cause of the vision is the concentrated belief and faith in Dalachrech allowing Him to focus His attentions upon the Temple and reach out to those beings on the mortal plane that attract His attention.

"Well yes. I figured you had," Kail says, chuckling a bit. She's still very tired, after all, but the magical healing helped considerably, "Could you bring Terrowin here? I don't want to search for him; I'm too tired."
