Re: Lords of Creation in the Playground (IC2)
Zzizchin and Domvic
It was amazing, marvelous! She had done it again, gone beyond what they knew, what they were.
Things had started in the deeps. The earth split from time to time; until the recent lullaby had rung through the waters, the span between times had been short indeed. More and more creatures had been coming up, and she had been studying those. Particularly one small fish species that had been found, in a somewhat unusual way: it resisted. Or more, seemed to ignore. The magic of the cetacean people seemed to have little effect on the creature, neither moving it from its path nor luring it away. It simply proceeded to do as it would. For Zzizchin, this was a challenge.
So, in her own direct way, she obtained several for samplings, and began to take apart their genetic code. She toyed, played, tested, manipulated, until she found a secret buried deep inside the creature. From that secret, she extracted enough to begin to grow another project of hers. Adding the two together, it became as a substance that possessed that strange quality against magic of the creature, but that could be wrapped around the body of another, a second skin, as it was. Domvic did the rest. A small cube in size, easily carried, that would, with just the right magical force, release the payload. In this case, all that needed to be done was to hold the cube to the creature’s flesh, and let it open; from there, it would spread, surrounding the creature in what was effectively an invisible shield against magic. It took time to develop, but their kind was patient, and they were able to let it still allow flow; to not allow the waters to beat on your own skin, to feel them just seemed wrong.
Mianmi
Unfortunate though it might be, it was the way things were. She might very well be unable to shepherd these ones as carefully as the others, but she would do her part towards the life. The song must grow.
Inspiration came from the Traveller; creatures of the world that would be more… recognized, less alien perhaps, then the fey. Creatures large, heavy, able to walk on four feet or two. Their bodies were layered with fat and fur, their legs sturdy and stout. On their hind legs, they would be taller than a man, perhaps of a head with an ogre. Legs became paws, large paws with claws that could sunder a mail shirt with a single swipe, front paws with dexterity that they might perform.. other functions in the future. The ferocity and size of the creature precluded any bystanders testing this fact, but they would, in fact, float if propelled into the water; in fact, they loved to swim. Small ears crowned the bumpy head, which tapered out to well-shielded eyes inset into the skull, and a long pointy nose that held the upper half of a mouth filled with teeth. Teeth that could rip and tear the meat from fleeing prey, teeth that could make a vampire jealous. But a mouth capable of the articulation necessary for speech nonetheless. They were the Ursid, and they dwelled in the cold regions of the world,
It was worrying, these tremors and craters being ripped into the surface of the world. Troubling. It was one thing to allow the mortals to slaughter one another, and another thing entirely to let them use the tools of the gods. No, it would not do at all for such to continue. Possible though it might be to sunder the weapon, it was not her way. There would be another possibility.
Any who happened to be looking at the sky at the right moment might have seen it. A webwork, like a giant net made of glowing white light, that settled into the sky, surrounding the whole of the playground. The lattice of light vanished a moment later, at least to the eye. Beneath the veil pulled over it, though, up close, it seemed to be almost like piping that filled the sky. Along those pipes moved globes of light. Further examination would show that they were neither globes nor light -- they were life. A strange form of life, perhaps, with no visible mouth or audible speech or body parts, but they traversed the network still the same, gliding along from here to there, never colliding, never stopping.
The Mind of A Living Ship - Moollilwc, Sarra
Moollilwc batted his tail, hovering in the water, taking refuge in the false sense of the ocean around him. How does one reach into the storm and show them dry land, without the assurance that no more waves will batter? “I am sorry for your loss. There may be many more days like this ahead, full of storm.” This was dangerous. Very much so -- to stretch the mind… but what else? He closed his eyes and opened his other eyes, very real; his flanks began to quiver at the strain that suddenly engulfed him. His song was simple, a basic spell, and the water in front of his mind form began to shimmer with light. A man, on a ship, standing, pacing, anxious. Others on deck, nervous. “But for now, you have friends who love you, who might grieve with you, given the chance. A lone is easily hunted down, but the pod stands strongest together.”

The Ocean - Puck/ Orphaned Kings, Scar-Tail Tribe
What was this? It looked a lot like the ships that their tribe had raided before but it seemed different somehow...like it was alive.
The Scar-Tails were a small tribe of Kua-Toa, their numbers only reaching eight, nine if you counted the old witch that was the Cheiftan's mother. Roglook was the first brave enough to swim close to the vessel while the others circled it.
The brave one was younger than the others, the youngest in fact. He swam up to the living ship and with long webbed fingers, he placed his hand flat against the ship's bottom hull and closed his eyes, listening to the vibrations and movements.

The assassin and diplomatic shoglings
The Shoglings scratches their heads. They understood that home was in the ruins but the eye wound one didn't seem to make sense. Though they did follow up with saying their family lived there. The Shoglings start to follow. They still needed to find a leader to talk to and maybe a leader was there. Besides, their teacher seemed to be helpful so far. Learning the language would be very useful for trying to negotiate with the inhabitants of this land. Might as well see what they want them to see and it wasn't like they had wanted to go to the ruins beyond using it as a base to search from anyways.

Lignum Castle, The First Tree - Jack, Evaliir
Jack was a tall and lanky young man with scruffy black hair, he stood out from tje rest of the human occupants of Lignum Castle as the first of many half-elves but qhat really made him stand out was his contant companion, a great big Dire Wolf that he has come to call Evaliir.
Jack took a bite of an apple as he surveyed the Castle's interior. It was composed of many layers and twisting passages throughout the whole of the Castle which made up a town of sorts with King Endren's Throneroom and Royal Quarters at the very top.
Humanity was challenged when they initially arrived here but as time has passed, so did their position. Now they were the First Tree's trading hub. Elves and even other people's of the Tree come and go, trading with human merchants and a few, though exceedingly rare would actually climb the steps and ramps to petition the King.
Jack looked down at Evaliir, a grin of pure mischief upon his face "Hey, Buddy... I think I smell something in the air. It smells like PURE adventure!"

Lustria and Lion - Chaqua
Lustria was silent for a moment before a smile crept over Her face. She said calmly "I will send out conveys of the Priest and Knights. Those of a less lawful bent can be shown the error of their ways. We will also make sure that the lawful areas wish to remain where they are instead of join us on Azteca." Even as She spoke a couple dozen ships began to be loaded with a few Priests, Knights, and laborers. Each was packed with enough materials to create an outpost with which to convert the heathens.
The Void
H'vooz and Xirmr'z began to slowly pull away as the seasons began to grow closer to ending. The effects on the Playground were subtle still, most people not noticing the shift. Yet in the Void the Tohiish took mind of the greater distances traveled, even if they couldn't land on any of them. Hlo felt sorry for the often ignored goblonauts, however, and blessed them with the knowledge of It's bodies to aid in the navigating the often confusing Void.
Zalsaram
Grenzo was smart enough to see that when Zalsaram shutters others fix the damage done. Yet still His father still had all the makings of being alive; blood and ethanol pumped through his veins and arteries, ley lines provided the impulses to move slowly reviving muscles. With this blink, the shudders were less intense than before as the borders upon his back and belly expanded slightly.

She rose from her bow and looked at the empty theones. "Ahn wishes to usher in a New Age. Gods are complacent and squabble amongst themselves. The Unliving decided to seek the only one she thought who might know what Zalsaram had once been. She began searching through the void, but saw none of the stars of the mother. Limbo - Pernieth
The Plant god looks across the world, at the wars and conflicts that rage, and remembers the past. He sows more power into his Alphas, making each animal potent in its own right, rather than as a whole.
The Tiger is Pernieth's fury, the incarnation of the Storm. Its fur turns white as snow, and lightning arcs behind its eyes.
The Turtle becomes Pernieth's desire to protect his domain. Its skin hardens to rock and Ironbark, yet despite its ferocious appearance, its eyes glow with the soft light of protection, the calm repose of a mountain, unmoved by wind and tide.
The Bear embodies the Cycle of Life to Death. By far the most monstrous of all the Alphas, the body of the Alpha Bear lives and dies constantly, though it suffers no pain, nor seems particularly bothered by its strange condition. Flesh rots away to bone, and then renews, as beautiful and healthy as any living being, and the cycle repeats again.
Finally, the Wolf, though it is far from the other Alphas, grew a coat no less soft than the fur it had before been clad in, though this coat was of leaves and plants. The wolf was Nature, Pernieth's family, and all that represented.

Evaliir woofs happily at the suggestion of mischief, a low sound, and licks Jack's face playfully.

As the final assembled deity place their blessing a star explodes within Limbo, shooting off a gamma ray burst upon the construct. The power of the dying star would fuel this new god.
"Isstus is online. All systems operating at half capacity. Weapons: fully functional." it says as the giant construct takes its first step.
"Mission: Opposing all attempts to resurrect Divinity: Zalsaram. Freedom from Divnity: Zalsaram's malice is the sovereign right of all Category: Mortals."
The Cosmic Mother's voice is heard rumbling once more "Now then... all that remains is to solidify this alliance. For those who wish to act as the Aegis of the Playground and defend it against those who would wish to resurrect Zalsaram, place your name upon the divine scroll, and let it serve as a testament of our combined desire to see our Children thrive."
Within the structure in the center of Limbo, a scroll appears floating upon a pedestal. Upon it is written the names of all who belong in Aegis and their dogma. First, is the Cosmic Mother. Although she does not write her name, she instead places her signature upon the Scroll of Aegis in the form of a miniature star, to shine forever as long as Aegis stands, even after her departure.
Next to it are the words "Zalsaram's return must be stopped." which is the basic condition for joining Aegis.
Falcon, Limbo
Falcon watched in awe as a new god was born right before his eyes. He witnessed a new alliance form among the beings who stood above the Playground and decided the fate of things. Though he by himself was unworthy of signing this document and adding his name would be a mockery of the purpose behind it, Hawk believed that he and his siblings collectively had a place on this list. He departed Limbo and flew back to the Wellspring on Chaqua. There he was sure he would find the others, for they were all drawn to the place of their birth.

Tetlacochininervianl - The Wellspring, Chaqua
Lion called, and all but a few answered swiftly.
Hare returned from the city where she was trying to ease the suffering of those fated to descend into the madness and disease of Foulspawn. Though only marginally successful, she had hopes this meeting would enable her to do more.
Spider had already been present and got to work weaving a tapestry upon which she would take a pictorial recording of the First Unseen Council.
Coyote arrived with a laugh and a bark, ready to share his wild tale about his madcap adventures.
Though disinclined to leave her adopted home on the First Tree, Bear had enough loyalty to her family to come when called. She said goodbye to Alpha Dire Bear and returned to the place of her birth.
Crocodile, however, didn't wish to leave Thloop and all the great meals he had there. He savagely refused to heed the call. Lion took note of this and considered sending Shark, Jellyfish, and Eel to bring him back by force. Hare, however, cautioned against starting the first council with an act of coercion. Spider instead suggested that bribery might be in order. Since Crocodile wished to eat instead of meet with his siblings, make the choices synonymous rather than oppositional.
This pleased the Council and thus its first decree was passed: Those of the council who refuse the Call when summoned would find no pleasure in their pursuits until they had answered the Call and attended. In addition, Bear organized Elk, Tiger, Grasshopper, and Vulture into helping provide ample sustenance for all present. With the lure of food on one side and the pleasures of tarrying denied, Crocodile at last gave in and appeared as called.
Whale floated in serenely and quietly took his place in the Council.
Newt attuned herself to the Wellspring, using it to form a quiet sanctum in Chaqua for them to discuss their business privately.
Having the farthest to travel, Falcon was just behind Crocodile in returning, for his adventure had taken him beyond the stars.
Salawa appeared the instant Lion called, strangely quiet and serious-seeming. Just wait until he opens his mouth. Then we'll see how serious he sounds then! Yes, you will see indeed.
As the other councilors were gathering and forming themselves into factions according to their natural proclivities, Bat saw that there were many who were shunned by the others. Worm, Roach, Hedgehog, Lamprey, and other such "undesirables" were being left out of these gatherings. Bat called them to herself and promised to ensure they had a voice in the Council.
Soon, all had gathered save for one: Viper still had not answered the call and had refused to come.
There were many who moved for the meeting to start without him, but Lion refused. He knew that it was only together, when they all met as one, that they could truly have a meaningful impact on this world. With the call of family, food, duty, and pleasure all failing to persuade the prodigal member of the Council, a chaotic debate erupted amongst them about how to bring him back. Lion lost control for a while as the meeting degenerated into bickering and debate.
Viper - Skreechy's Hand, Divinities Throneroom
Viper had heard the call of his brethren, but he refused it. When all pleasure had been taken away, Viper had almost revealed himself to the assembled beings by laughing. Though such ham-handed tactics might have brought Crocodile mindlessly back, it would take something more subtle to convince Viper to leave this meeting. Here he was witnessing a plot amongst those with the power to do something. His siblings' inane discussions could wait.

As he struggles, he looks up to see a human looking down through the water at him. "
Can I help you?" Puck says, a grin on his face, as if he was entirely unsurprised at what lay below.
The young Kua-Toa jerked and pulled at his hand, trying to get it free. He yelled and screamed at his tribe in the Kua-Toan gurgling language.
Two of the Kua-Toa immediately swam forward, one pulling the young one's body back while the other pulled a wicked looking jagged blade from his waist and aimed for the stuck Kua-Toa's wrist. The young one would be free, even if it cost the fool his hand.
The other remaining Kua-Toa began to circle the living ship, teeth barred and spears ready.

Tetlacochininervianl - Bear, Mathan, the Alpha
As Bear turned to leave his new home, the Alpha, who had taken to naming himself Mathan, though he had no means of speaking the name, placed a paw on his younger cousin. As Bear turns, the paw disintegrates to bone. Mathan huffs once, and carefully places a seed in front of Bear. The meaning was clear. Bear was welcome to return to his home, but if he chose not, home would follow him where he chose to make it.
Ocean - Puck, Sarra, Kua-Toa
"You know, I met others like you once. We got along just fine. But if you want a fight... you'll get it." Puck says grimly. Below the surface, a tendril lashes out, knocking the knife away before it can cut flesh. The tendril quickly whips through the water like a snake, snapping up the dagger and pulling it into the ship. The living wood seals behind the knife and tendril, as if it had never been. A moment later, Puck leans over the gunwale, holding the knife. "Looking for this?"

"No." replies Skreechy curtly to the Raven's Mother idea all the while still fidgeting on this throne and examining Viper "Common you stupid thing... talk... The Ocean - Puck, Sarra, Scar-Tail Tribe
The Kua-Toa still struggled to free himself with the help of the others. With the knife removed and the land-creature leaning over to taunt in some unknown language, the Kua-Toa decided to start biting at his own arm. He wasn't about to be this thing's food. It wasn't happening.
The Tribe's Cheiftan lifted a flute carved of fishbone and blew on it. To the creatures in the water, it would be shrill, loud and far reaching. Creatures above the water however, would be oblivious to the sound.
Something big stirred in the deep, two very big somethings as a matter of fact and they rapidly made their way towards the ship.

Re: Lords of Creation in the Playground (IC2)
The Ocean - Puck, Sarra, Scar-Tail Tribe
Puck sighs. It was obvious he wasn't getting through to the creatures below. "Sarra. Any ideas?" he asks to the woman-totem standing behind him. "Just one. It may take a few moments." she hums with a self-satisfied tone of 'told you so'. "Puck turns away and grumbles "you could at least pretend not to sound so pleased, woman." Sarra however, is already deep in her own mind, and far beyond hearing.
It was a well known fact that Trees and plants whispered to one another across the winds. Forests spoke among themselves, yet there was one strange phenomena that no race outside of the Forest could ever quite properly explain. Even the Half-Elves and Endren couldn't understand, for all that they lived on the First Tree. Since the birth of their races, the Elders of Dryads, Trees, Ents and Living Ships had all been capable of communicating over incredible distance. A long time ago, this connection threatened to destroy both Sarra and even the First Tree herself, so great was the mental pain of the loss of an entire continent of Trees.
But every sword that cuts one way can cut another. And this link served a purpose for the Forest, a purpose that even now Sarra was utilizing. Every living thing that spoke and was sentient had a language. And that language could be understood, and heard. In time, those languages found their way to an Elder, who then relayed them to the First Tree. So it was across the entirety of the Playground, that every being, race, and idea eventually found their way to the First Tree, and to the Forest. When the engines of war from the Sovereignty landed on the branch of the First Tree, their methods and tools were not a surprise. Their ferocity and tenacity, yes, but their tools were well prepared for.
Sarra drew from that link now, from the knowledge of foreign forests, whose trees she had never spoken to, whose shores she had never seen. She found the language of these strange creatures, buoyed on the wind and the tides, heard by the plankton of the ocean, and the beach palms of distant shores.
"Cease." The command rippled through the water, in their native tongue, and the bark surrounding the Kua'toa loosened its hold.

16=17-1: Create Concept - Didactic Link: The creatures of the Forest have long been linked, but Elders of each of the species within the Forest, and their offspring, can utilize a much more powerful form of communication, a mind-link. This link extends not only to Trees, Ents, and Dryads, but also to their kin, including Living Ships, Spriggans, Weirdwoods, and other creatures born of the Forest or its seeds. (Read: Plant Subtype). Like all connections, it must be willing, and can be broken by either party at any time. In addition, this connection can be permanently severed. Doing so, however, is akin to having one of your senses ripped from your body, as the world around you, so filled with the voices and sounds of your kin, falls forever silent. [Mechanically, this gives a +5 Circumstance bonus on Knowledge (Nature, Geography, History, Local) to any characters of the Plant Subtype that can commune with an Elder Plant for as long as they commune with that plant (remain within 15 feet and use the Commune with Nature spell or equivalent)
15=16-1: Create Concept - Natural Language Processing: Any language spoken in the air or in water reaches the Forest sooner or later, and with enough time, the Forest learns it and can transmit it to the Elders, who share it with their forests. Mechanically, this means that characters with the Plant subtype can commune with an Elder to prepare a language. This allows them to make a linguistics check to understand a language they could not otherwise speak or understand, though the limits of mortal minds are such that only one language can be 'prepared' at a time.

Re: Lords of Creation in the Playground (IC2)
The Ocean - Puck, Sarra, Scar-Tail Tribe
The young Kua-Toa was free, the giant crocodiles, easily as big as the Sarra came to a stop and the fishmen simply stared at each other.
One of them, the Cheif's mother finally broke the silence. "What in Ahnak's name was that?"
"Was it the land creatures? They dont speak our tongue though!" said another, still holding his spear aloft just in-case.
The giant crocodiles broke surface, casually floating next to Sarra with lazy near solid white eyes, these two were old, really old. Their gills puffed as the Cheiftan crawled up on one of their backs. The Cheiftan stood in silence and stared at Puck with a fishy expression.

The Swordsman - Near Eldarond
The Swordsman closed the portal as he exited, the task in the faraway lands having been complete. They brought back as many of the fallen as they could, both the deathless and the living brought back through magic. The Swordsman decided that, for the moment, they would wait for Ulvin to return - Hopefully, the deathless would find a home alongside the humans. However, the avatar knew that his kind was very different from the norm in this place, and did not get his hopes up.

The pact had been signed. For the first time, Kealoharen felt directly opposed to something. It felt strange to the god who normally tried to understand and accept others. Maybe the cult could be convinced to drop their goals. Only time would tell.
The Joyous Duet - Kealoha
The Joyous Duet loved the Pixies. New creatures to play and dance and have fun with were welcome. Of course, they had to be careful, as the pixies were so tiny and the two parts of the duet were each the size of humans. The two decided they would ask for another new creature to have fun with - something close to their size.
At that moment, a stray cat ran past, and this gave the Duet all the inspiration they needed. Something soft, but something bigger than the animal which had just run by. Something smarter, too. Folk who were like cats, but also like people, some kind of... Catfolk!
They created the new type of creature all throughout the city, and so Kealoha became populated with another new type of creature. Fluffy catlike creatures who were gonna be tons of fun! Lithe and slender, with soft fur, tails, and eyes like those of cats! Pointed but rounded ears at the top of their heads too, of course. Some would have whiskers, others wouldn't, and the range of eye colours would be very wide.
And so, a new variety of life came to the playground and the city of Kealoha.

Re: Lords of Creation in the Playground (IC2)
Somara - Ulvin, The Swordsman
"You have done me a great service, Swordsman." Ulvin's words resounded as the Swordsman would come to realize that he was no longer upon the playground.
All around him, rolling green hills spread out without end. Divine Decree, a tower of solidified light reached through the sky, seemingly without end and in the distance, many castles and keeps could be seen.
The sky was azure and pure, a few clouds here and there and the Sun shined bright, larger than ever and forever noon.
Ulvin stood there before Divine Decree, he seemed to have become more than he was. Fuller even. The God of Courage stared down at the Swordsman. "You and your showed exceptional Courage against the forces of Evil. You have both my thanks and my admiration."

Re: Lords of Creation in the Playground (IC2)
The Swordsman & Ulvin - Somara
The Swordsman bowed before the deity. "We exist to preserve the lives of others. Mortal lives are important, and also costly to restore. Whatever diamonds we had gathered before this have been used up in order to fulfill the cost of the magic for those we were able to bring back. The black pearls required to revive my forces are half as costly. As well, mortals suffer from diseases, and can take their wounds throughout their lives. Fighting so that they do not have to - so that they may live - is our pleasure. Unlike other undead, the spirits that animate my people, the deathless, are fragments of the same spirits we had in life. They are pleased to defend good lives - not only does it make sense sentimentally, but also numerically."

The Ocean - Puck, Sarra, Scar-Tail Tribe
"I assume that means they aren't going to throw themselves on the acid cannons then?" Puck says with a grimly sarcastic tone. "I suspect not, at least not yet" Puck eyes the crocodiles for a moment, then decides that no matter how large they are, their flesh would melt like everything else. And the spears? What a joke. Ironbark had deflected metal shrapnel from a bomb that destroyed an island. Primitive spear and claws were hardly a match.
"Ask them what they want." Puck orders, to which Sarra turns and raises a single wooden eyebrow. "Please." Puck adds on sheepishly.
With that, the figurehead that was Sarra turned to the tribe. "What is it that you seek?"

Re: Lords of Creation in the Playground (IC2)
The Swordsman & Ulvin - Somara
The Swordsman looked up to the god, a glint in his eye. "My people and I, we have no home. We would be honoured to live among your people - if you and your people will have us. Our warriors will proudly stand at the front of all battles, and our healers will gladly restore the fallen to life."

Re: Lords of Creation in the Playground (IC2)
The Ocean - Puck, Sarra, Scar-Tail Tribe
The Cheiftan seemed taken aback by the wooden creature and it's speech, he scratched his chin for a moment. "Fancy. Speaking in our tongue. Where'd you learn it?" He swats at the air, dismissing the question. "Nevermind that. Saw your land vessel. Got close...was different than others. Wanted to know how different. That one's a squid...can tell. Can't understand but can tell that much." he continued talking, dubbing Puck as a creature that eats with it's arse, a common Kua-Toan insult.
"We are Scar-Tail, been round for many seasons, never seen land vessel like yours. Got magic does it?" Another dismissive wave "Doesn't matter either. Hmmm.... Don't seem you'd be worth fighting. Might win, might not. If win, wont be enough left to enjoy the win (he gurgles, a sickening sound that vaguely resembles laughter) Nah, we won't attack. No hostilities. Ahnak willing, care for trade? We've things you can't reach from the bottom."
