Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
Carbuncle makes some squeking noise and the guy looks up suprised. "Oh" Carbuncle told him about the frown and he decided to just sit down where he is. While they talk he will take a look around, not to inspect the room, more to se if he can detect any magical source that may cause nightmares.

Re: GLoG 91
Maple Cabin, Night
"It wants me to leave the campsite, find somewhere isolated in the forest near here, and draw a symbol in the dirt. A circle, as perfect as I can get it, then draw a cross in blood through the circle. Then catch a squirrel or a mouse or something, kill it, and throw its guts into the middle and say the thing's name five times." Sounds like a magical ritual of some kind.
The only magic in the room is in a shoebox under Cheasadh's bed. The box contains all the pretty and unusual things she's collected, and there's two magical things in there. One is a small fish-shaped charm carved from yew heartwood on a keyring. The other is a small pebble of black marble with a hole all the way through it, just off-centre. Both magics are minor and appear benign, and seem to have nothing to do with dreams or sleep.
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
That is very disturbing. If Cheasadh doesn't do it willingly, the thing might compel her to.
"Have you heard about this creature before? Or its name, at least?"
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
"Hmmm." the man says. "It sounds like one of those old summonings."
If he could see the circle, he should be able to identify the creature that comes with the ritual. But he doesn't think the girl would be happy to draw it.

Re: GLoG 91
Maple Cabin- Night
"No. I don't think so. My parents never told me anything about dream-monsters. And if He was involved, you would have been a slave in my dream, not a corpse. Slavery embodies Tyranny better than slaughter does. I haven't heard of it or anything like it since I moved here, either." Slavery also fuels Fear and Hate, which also embody Bane better than mindless slaughter and flame.
Circles aren't usual in summoning spells, either. The perfection of a round shape is hard to duplicate in the ways needed for a safe conjuration... Though Natalie, being a conjurer herself, might know more.
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
"Hmm." Why was she picked, then? Maybe her family had dealings she didn't know about... Sophie has too little information. "I'll need to find out more. For now, we'll try to protect you from the dreams. Forcing dreams of others is something that happens often, so there are ways to protect yourself."
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
I don't know the diffference and sind both words mean the same in my language. Also The nameless man uses circles himself. He can project them through his hands so for him a circle drawn yb hand is 'the old stuff'.
"Who is He?" the man asks curiouse.
-
Re: GLoG 91
Maple Cabin, Night
If you mean 'summoning' and 'conjuration', they mean basically the same thing in English, too. And I didn't know he used circles; just that pentacles are more commonly depicted.
"That's good. I don't want it to come back." Though it's slightly worrying that she's not the only person afflicted by dream-visitors. She doesn't particularly want to answer the Nameless Guy's question, though. The memories of that time are happy, for her at least, but she's since learnt that her happiness was at the expense of people who didn't need to die and her parents weren't as honest nor as loving as she had believed. "He is... He is the god my parents worshipped. Bane, Lord of Tyranny. His colours are black and green, and this thing was red, like blood." As she thinks of Him, she remembers something else which she mentions, though it's a worthless clue pointing away from Bane, but not really pointing to anything.

Re: GLoG 91
((Sorry, I forgot about this scene.))
[Maple Cabin, Night]
"Is it okay if I stay here with you, to observe?" Sophie asks. She'll have to explain it to Trick, but she'll understand. "I'd like to see if there's something visible here when the dream tries to come to you."
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
"I have checked the room for any magical sign." the man says. "I dodn't found anything."
-
Re: GLoG 91
Maple Cabin- Night
"You can. Not him, though. I don't know him." She motions towards the Nameless Guy.
And there is magic in the room! Two minor trinkets, granted, but still magic. The keyring prevents Cheasadh from getting lost, if she's carrying it at the time, and anyone looking through the pebble's hole sees a paradise garden of green plants, colourful flowers, blue skies and near-constant sunshine.
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
"That should be fine. Though I'd still like your help, if you're willing," Sophie says to the nameless man. "Do you know anything that might protect from dreams? Once we find something, we'll give it to Cheasadh. Then I'll stay here and see if it works. And I'll use my Second Sight to check if something is affecting her. You can monitor things from the outside."
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
"Yeah, I thought so, too." he replies to Cheasadh.
"I could summon a dream eater. It's a small spirit that feasts on dreams. They are no thread, but using them to much can have some side effects."
-
Re: GLoG 91
Maple Cabin, Night
"Is it cute? I like cute things." She doubts it'll work, though. That's what her two-headed wolf cuddly is for, and Deefa hasn't worked for this nightmare. Granted, Deefa is a family heirloom passed down from her brother, and not actually a magical item in any way, but she was assured it would work when she inherited him.
Though, she did once rip him open to offer him to Bane, because she was (at the time) surrounded by crazy too-tall people who didn't understand her. But Sophie understands her, isn't too crazy and she's getting used to everyone being so ungainly huge.
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
"What kind of side effects? I'd rather have a long-term solution, but we can use it once or twice while we look for something else and investigate," Sophie says.
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
"It can be a cute one, if you tell me what you think is cute." he says to Cheasadh. Those things have no shape, they can appear as everything.
"Feeling exhausted like you didn't even sleep is commen after around a week. Later is might cause people to have a hard time remember thinks, but that also depends on the dreams, as long as there are some this one won't happen." It's not a very good tool for long time use, but what do you expect from a creature that eats dreams.
-
Re: GLoG 91
Maple Cabin- Night
"Pink! And fluffy, with big eyes and a wiggly nose and a long tail." Though they aren't all required on the same creature. The fluff is pretty important, but that's about it.
Cheasadh's still quite tired, but she's also rather excited to see the spirit, if it's brought out for her to see. That's helping wake her up, along with the desire to not be asleep.
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
Sophie smiles slightly at Cheasadh's enthusiasm.
"A week should be enough for us to find something else, or maybe even solve the problem." She's not too hopeful about the latter, though. "So for now we can use your dream eater."
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
"Okay, let's see." With a *poof* Carbuncle on his shoulder disapears. Then he looks at his left hand. With a short move a few circle appear filled with symbols. It's a rune based language ,so if they know something simular they might find a few Symbols that look equal. He shifts the rings around, placing some symbols in a row from top to the middle of his hand.
"That should do the trick."
He then turns his hand around and pushes it on the floor. The circles moves onto the floor and grows to the size of the room(even goes oval), filling it with a white and slightly pink light. "Come here DREAM EATER!"
Right in front of his hand the creature jumps out of the circle and appears mid air in front of the summoner.
The dream eater looks mostly like a persian cat, just with a slight pink in his otherwise white fur.
"Okay." the man says, obviously proud it did came out like that. "Your going to eat up her nightmares.....Yeah i know that, too...A few days.........What you mean with 'again'?" It appears the cat talked back to the guy, but then starts to stroll around Cheasadh.
"That's it. Anythign else?"
-
Re: GLoG 91
Maple Cabin- Night
"Oh, it's so fluffy!" Cheasadh grins, and will attempt to sweep the dream-eating spirit into a big hug. She doesn't have any further questions, there.
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
Sophie has dealt with many summoned beings, but none of them looked like... fluffy cats. She supposes they don't all have to look like spiky monsters.
"Hmm. Alright, then. Try to go to sleep, Cheasadh, and I'll stay here and keep an eye on things. Do the nightmares ever come twice in a night?"
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
When she tries to hug it, her arms will just go through the fluffy cat. The cat also seems to be free from gravity and goes on walking through the room.
"I leave you alone then. The spirit should stay here for the week. Just tell me if you want to dismiss it earlier."
He will then head for the door.
-
Re: GLoG 91
Maple Cabin, Night
Cheasadh's a little disappointed the hug doesn't work, but it's cute and fluffy so she can pretend to hug it. "They did yesterday. Not before that, though. I think. They only started recently, and they get fuzzy round the edges when I wake up." A dream is rarely remembered in full. All I remember of the last dream to stick around after I woke is being grabbed by the waist of my trousers and screaming as I was yanked through the ceiling. I'm sure there was more context than that, though. Cheasadh lies back into her bed, pulling her duvet back up to her chin.
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
As Cheasadh gets ready to sleep, Sophie goes to get changed into something more practical... and get her gun. Firing it in a child's room is one of the last things she ever wants to do, but she has to be ready. Before she goes, she stops to talk to the nameless man again.
"Thanks for helping me with this. This might be too big for just one person."
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
The nameless guy leaves then. He releases a long sight after he closes the door behind and a few steps away from the doof he falls down on his knee.
"God damit." he whispers to himself lookign back at the door if any of them heared him. He decides to not wait and drags his body to the next edge and away from the door. Havin summond Carbuncle and then that dreameater thing was a bit to much for him. Especially since the cat has to last for some time. He will need to recover a bit and then go straight to bed.
-
Re: GLoG 91
Maple Cabin, Night
When Sophie returns, Cheasadh's brought Pookie out of his ball to keep Sophie company, though the little bear is already drifting off at the foot of Cheasadh's bed. Cheasadh herself is all tucked in, lit only by a nightlight and only just awake. But she's trying not to fall asleep until Sophie arrives, so she knows Sophie is there.
With a final smile at Sophie, she drifts off into sleep.
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
Sophie sits down on whatever chair or stool she has available and settles in for a wait. Her somewhat rusty instincts come back to her, having spent many nights on stakeouts as a monster-hunter. She closes her eyes, breathes in and concentrates. When she opens her eyes, her Second Sight is active. Even without anything supernatural nearby, it shows the world around her in a subtly different light. It's stark and plain, as if all the illusions and little lies people surround themselves in had been stripped away. The reality of it worms away at one's mind; you can't see the world so clearly for long without being affected. But it's the duty given to her by the mysterious, mad voices of the Heralds so long ago. Maybe the Heralds just looked at the world this way for too long...
-
Re: GLoG 91
Maple Cabin- Night
There's a small chair at Cheasadh's desk in the corner. It's very small, though, sized for Cheasadh; the floor or Cheasadh's bed might be better choices. Or bringing a plastic chair with her, that might also work.
There's some minor magic under the bed, as previously mentioned. A keyring that prevents getting lost and a stone that acts as a tiny window into a paradise world. Other than those things, and whatever the dream-eater appears to be, nothing will happen for about half an hour after Cheasadh has fallen asleep. At that point, Cheasadh starts to dream, and mystic red threads build around her head, like an angular spider's web made of right-angles and pain.
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
Even in that sight, the dream eater appears as a cat, maybe a bit more shiny from the summoning that keeps her up. The dream eater will stall around in the room for and maybe leave for a blink through a wall coming right back.
As soon as Cheasadh starts dreaming the cat will jump up to her head and her little mouth becomes unnatural big. Big enougth to consume the dream in one bite, even the threads.
-
Re: GLoG 91
[Maple Cabin, Night]
Sophie stands up, hand on her gun, and watches the dream eater do its work. She's trying to follow the dream's treads and trace them to some kind of source. Or at least something that might hint towards one.
