The hand has no listed speed, and there is no mention of needing extra actions to deliver the touch spells. It would appear to move whatever distance is required and back (within the spell's range of course) in the attack action.
A 387A
No.

Q 388:
If a druid is fighting two Balor demons, and he casts a Storm of Shards spell (BoED, SR: Yes) that contains both Balors in its area, does the Druid make one SR check, or does he make a separate SR check versus each demon?

Any AoE spell cast among multiple recipients with spell resistance requires a roll against each one. The druid would make two SR checks. As quoted from the SRD...

Q 389
Do [Reserve] feats work with feats that affect the non-casted spell the feat works off of? Suppose I have a 9th level necromancer with the feats Fearsome Necromancy and Sickening Grasp and an uncast 5th level necromancy spell. If I use Sickening Grasp (a reserve necromancy feat) on a target, then does Fearsome Necromancy apply?
-
Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5 #33: Doesn't everything popular die when 33?
A 389
No. The effects generated by reserve feats are supernatural abilities; Fearsome Necromancy only applies to spells.

Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5 #33: Doesn't everything popular die when 33?
Staves allow you to use your own caster level and ability score modifier to affect the spell you cast from them. Soooo...
Q 390
If a rogue uses Use Magic Device to activate a staff (DC 20), is he also able to use UMD to emulate the caster level of a spellcasting class (UMD result - 20)?
The description of staves says they use the ability score of the caster to set the DCs, and that unlike other magical items they do not have a base DC set by the minimum ability score normally required to cast the spell. Soooo...
Q 391
Since a rogue activating a staff with UMD does not have a primary spellcasting ability, does he use UMD to emulate the spellcasting ability score of a caster class (UMD result - 15)?

Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5 #33: Doesn't everything popular die when 33?
A 390
As I read it, you'd use your own ability score if it was higher than the minimum, but you can't choose to emulate a higher one. You only emulate ability scores when it's necessary to activate the item (it only mentions scrolls in the emulate ability score section, and scrolls require a requisite ability score while spell trigger items like staves do not).
A 391
No, as he does not need one to use the staff.

A creature with a climb speed has a +8 racial bonus to climb checks. If a spell or other source grants you a climb speed, are you such a creature?

A good cleric of a good-aligned deity is affected by a Morality Undone spell (which temporarily turns her alignment to evil).
A) She certainly cannot Rebuke Undead (that's still , but can she still Turn Undead while under the spell?
B) She certainly cannot casts Evil spells (again, still against deity's alignment), but could she still casts spells with the Good descriptor? Or sanctified spells?

Is it possible to ride a biped? Assuming it's a size larger, of course.
-
Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5 #33: Doesn't everything popular die when 33?
A 399
Clearly it's physically possible, because piggyback rides exist. Ride skill: "If you attempt to ride a creature that is ill suited as a mount, you take a -5 penalty on your Ride checks." So just find out whether your DM considers the humanoid in question "ill suited". There may be other adjustments needed, such as the cost of a saddle, or the Handle Animal synergy to Ride.

A 401
A sleeping creature is always considered willing in terms of any spell or effect targeting it. An asleep creature that's in medium or heavy armor (or just heavy, if they have the endurance feat) wakes up fatigued. (It's worth noting that a creature that becomes fatigued twice instead becomes exhausted)

Which, for clarity, just means that they can be targeted by spells that can only be used on willing targets (like polymorph or teleport), not that they voluntarily give up their saving throws.

Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5 #33: Doesn't everything popular die when 33?
Q 403
Quote:
Supernatural Abilities (Su)
Supernatural abilities are magical and go away in an antimagic field but are not subject to spell resistance, counterspells, or to being dispelled by dispel magic. Using a supernatural ability is a standard action unless noted otherwise. ...
Quote:
Protective Aura (Su): Against attacks made or effects created by evil creatures, this ability provides a +4 deflection bonus to AC and a +4 resistance bonus on saving throws to anyone within 20 feet of the angel. Otherwise, it functions as a magic circle against evil effect and a lesser globe of invulnerability, both with a radius of 20 feet (caster level equals angel’s HD). This aura can be dispelled, but the angel can create it again as a free action on its next turn. (The defensive benefits from the circle are not included in an angel’s statistics block.)
Can an angel's Protective Aura be dispelled by Dispel Magic, Greater Dispel Magic, and/or Dispel Good (which specifically states "Spells that can’t be dispelled by dispel magic also can’t be dispelled by dispel [alignment])?
If it can, is this just a case of specific-trumps-general?
If it cannot, what other means of dispelling are there that don't have a tie to Dispel Magic, and thus would work to dispel the Protective Aura?
Q 404 A
Suppose a great beast (we’ll use the Tarrasque as an example) was imprisoned in one of the bubble-like voids that composes Agathion, the fourth layer of Pandemonium. If an adventuring party were to want to find the Tarrasque, could they go to Phlegethon, cast Find the Path, in search of “the portal to the Tarrasque’s prison” (that’s a location) and successfully find the portal to the void they seek?
What if they asked about finding “the Tarrasque’s prison in Pandemonium?” Would that not work, because the prison is on a different layer of Pandemonium, and Find the Path specifically only works "on the same plane as you are at the time of casting?"
Q 404 B
If Find the Path works to find these places, how have people never found the supposed lost treasure troves that deities have stored in Agathion (MotP, p. 99)?
Quote:
… The portals that connect Agathion to the rest of Pandemonium open into the otherwise unreachable bubbles, but the act of stepping through a portal always sets off a windstorm.
Unless you know where the portal is, the closed-off spaces of Agathion are almost impossible to find. For this reason, forgotten spaces have been used by deities (and other powerful entities that predate the current deities) as vaults where items are hidden away. Such items may include uncontrollable artifacts, precious mementos, lost languages, unborn cosmologies, and monsters of such cataclysmic power that they couldn’t be slain or otherwise neutralized.
For example, why couldn’t someone use Find the Path to locate “the Agathion vault of Ao, where he stored the original prototypes for the Orbs of Dragonkind?” (Assuming the information was true.)

Q 406
If a psionic yuan-ti has Detect Hostile Intent running, which is a Telepathy [Mind-Affecting] power (and for transparency, all Telepathy powers count as Enchantment), and an undead creature (or some other creature immune to enchantment [mind-affecting] effects, such as a Half-Fey) approaches within the range of the DHI field, does the Yuan-ti notice their approach?
Note that Detect Hostile Intent has no target line, nor does it allow a saving throw.
Quote:
Detect Hostile Intent

Level: Psion/wilder 2, psychic warrior 2
Display: Olfactory

Range: 30 ft.
Area: 30-ft.-radius emanation centered on you
Duration: 10 min./level (D)

Q408: Is there a definition of what qualifies as a ranged attack? This is for the purposes of the epic feat Uncanny Accuracy (SRD).
Quote:
Your ranged attacks ignore the miss chance granted to targets by total concealment. You must aim your attacks at the correct square to take advantage of this feat.
More specifically, can a spellcaster with Uncanny Accuracy target a square and cast a spell on the opponent in that square?
