His heart is in Canberra and his skeleton is somewhere in New Zealand.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Timaru most likely, that's where he was bred and born.
And I had no idea he'd been divided up. I am now officially squicked.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
That's nothing compared to what humans do with their own and other people's bodies.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Yes, well, that creeps me out too.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
So... some time ago, I recall someone in this thread mentioning they were going to get themselves a chainmail bracelet (I think it was Moonshadow off the top of my head)... That's neither here nor there to be honest, I just needed a conversation opener.
The point is that Peregrine and I ordered a chainmail bracelet from Thinkgeek, and they sent us two by mistake. We've contacted them and they don't want us to send it back... We don't need two and we don't want two, so if anyone out there would like it (it's a purple one), let me know where to send it and you can have it - I'll pay postage and Merry Christmas!
Seriously, I have no idea what to do with the darn thing, and neither of us want a spare. Though it won't be sent til the new year most likely, as we're away right now and I just won't have time to do anything about it til January.

That looks awesome. If no one else wants it, I'll take one. I can even live with the purple-ness. :smallwink:

Purple is my favourite colour :smalltongue: (and it's not quite as bright in reality as it is in the picture)
For that matter, if anyone knows anyone who'd like one of these let me know. ThinkGeek were having a bad day and they also sent us a bloody onsie instead of the t-shirt we actually ordered. I really don't know what to do with this one if no one wants it. I honestly will likely turn it into a cleaning rag... or maybe I'll stick it in a clothing bin - that's probably a better idea.

It is indeed an awesome colour. It is the colour of royalty, after all.

I have no babies for which to give that...

Mostly as a result of so many expensive things being purple.
Tyrean Purple... Porphyry Marble... Other things...

Neither do I, that's the problem. There's a clothing bin around the corner from our house, I think I'll just take it there. I'm sure there's a nerdy family out there somewhere who'd appreciate it. Let me know where to send the bracelet and I'll stick it in the post when I get home.

By the way, what size is it? I'll ask around.

Merry Christmas everyone.

6 months, I haven't taken it out of the packet, but it looks fairly small.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Greetings, fellow Australasians. How is your New Year going for you? :smalltongue:
-
Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Not too bad, thanks. Just got back from a friend's holiday hut in the Victorian 'highlands', which I've discovered are actually 350m lower than where I live (Canberra). Weather was great till today, but we bugged out a day early on account of it being >40 degrees C over there.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Yes, I read about that heatwave on the news. Have fun with that :smalltongue:
I'm just glad our heatwave has finally gone away. This country is nuts... two days ago I was sweltering in shorts and a singlet top, with the aircon and a pedestal fan running full bore. Today I'm wearing trousers. (very lightweight, cotton trousers, but still)

Like Hastur, I come when I'm called.
Nah, I'm gone. See you in 6 months to a decade.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Hey, you're alive!
I already sent the bracelet off to Rawhide anyway... who should have it pretty soon... if not already.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Stay safe with the fires everyone.
Perth is likely that got drenched yesterday... even if it did make it feel like walking in a Greenhouse.
-
Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Thankfully there aren't any fires near Brisbane that I'm aware of. Unless there's one creeping up on me-GAH! FIRE!
Sorry if that sounded insensitive to anyone who's lost someone/something to fire.

It was horrible :smallmad: and our air con is evaporative, so it was bloody useless. :smallannoyed:

Oh no...
And I meant Perth was lucky in that it got drenched... not likely XD.
Still made the atmosphere horrible.
And if it makes you feel better I don't have air con...

Oh yes, the same thought occurred to me yesterday. In admist all my complaining about the humidity. I hate wet heat.

Not really... I just feel sorry for you. The place Perey and I lived in when we first got married was a box masquerading as a one-bedroom apartment and it didn't have air con either. Summer was a three-month exercise in misery. Every. Single. Year.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Welp, just got back from Warrnambool (went on holiday for the weekend). That was fun. :smallcool:
-
Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Brisbane's been having its miserable days, also without air con - just a couple of standing fans. It was funny going back to Armidale to pack my stuff up, though... Here in Qld it stays at least warm all day and night. Armidale wasn't much cooler during the day, but when I got there at 2am I regretted not taking a jacket.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Vaguely worried - have any of you upside down folks been affected by these wildfires we're hearing about on the news? :smalleek:
-
Re: Australasia in the Playground V
I haven't, though I can smell the smoke on the air and in the warmth of the breeze.
And we're not upside down, you Northern Hemisphereans just don't know which way up is.
-
Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Peregrine and I are on the other side of the country, so we're all right at the moment. Though it was hot yesterday (got up to 39 so I'm told), today it's been almost cool, at least, the breeze is fairly cool, and I'm back in trousers. The weather is so weird. Apparently the forecast is for the temperature to shoot back up again... Peregrine was reading an article about the Bureau of Meterology and how they've had to update their temperature shading because of the forecast for WA. At present, it only goes up to 50C (122F), but they've had to add a couple of colours, so they can shade up to 54C (129F).
I'm so glad I don't live up north (which is where the really bad temps will be)

There was one in our town, but luckily for Rowsen and I it was all the way at the northern side of town while we live in the other end of the area.
