Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
"Well... Uh, I'll be honest my knowledge of Intergalactic Law is a bit spotty for the son of a Spacefaring race's prince but it doesn't sound like this is technically illegal... We might have to default to just beating the crap out of him. I mean, I think half of the people in our group have diplomatic immunity and--"
"Testing testing, one two three," Oxy suddenly butts in with his own telepathy. "There are seven Bioadndoids in that building, and one of them seems to have produced six offspring. Judging from energy singatures, Aphel... They've stolen your cells to make one of those androids."
There's a beat.
"Also, after we take tihis man down, I want to mock him to his face about his stupid naming scheme for the Unkillables. You're supposed to name a Bioandroid after a facet of cellular anatomy or genetics."
"Are you done?"

Vodkana
'..N..n..ya..." Mister Delargo has spoken with such passion, she felt shivers in her spine. He actually was rather cute!
She wondered if Hailing would be jealuse, probably not.
But it could be funny if he would...
Or he could help her text him,and-
Nya. Focus Vodkana. Focus she shaked herself out of it.
More or less.
What can she do? Bad guys is something else!
Well, he was more like mad scientist kind of bad guy..
Focus!!
Vodkana seemed to day dream for a moment.
"Sorry, nyahaha!" Vodkana giggled. "I was just thinking of allllll the possibilities nya! You are probably like a god! Nya!" She said with an excited tone.
Most succesfull buisness men, aren't neccarily the smartest. Sometimes they are straight forward dumb. But they knew how people work.
And if there were anything, people wanted apreciation for their work and intrests.
Vodkana went toward Red Mantis, and touched his blade, stroking it with her paw, while wagging her tail thinking and looking into his eyes.
She was sure Apfel already talking to him with telepathy, making so much sense.
But did people ever change from pure rationalizing? Vodkana highly doubted.
When she first joined the group, they did try to make her doubt Spoon. But even he left, even when he made her look bad infront of the whole galaxy, she still loved him, and cared for him. What can one do? Parent figure is a need. Probably for every living being.
The R.A could explain how wrong it is to bully people over and over and over...
But what changed her, was their friendship.
Vodkana also used her taste sense, to see if Red Mantis had a favrorite type of food.
"So, Red Mantis-san." She talked to him directly. "You are beautiful. Also... why are you called "unkillable? How do you like it here?"
In telepath link with the others. (Her telelpathy was based on nightmare magic, so she had creepy spooky tone)
well, if we want to redeem them or something, I think we should hire them all, and hang out with them, showing how nice are we, freedom and stuff. Nya, we could even take them to Equestria.
Nightmare Mist
For good and ill, the mist was maybe as sentient as insect- some insects were attracted to light- even if it kill them.
Without direct command of it's creator, the mist will hunt for as much secrets it can and turn back.
So the mist slithered in...

Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
As he describes it, no, it's not illegal. Apfel replied to Diamond and Oxyribo. The fact that there was an android with a part of him in it...unsettled him, but he kept his cool. But that assumes the Unkillables are here, voluntarily. He points out. Under Imperial legal code, a sapient being cannot be compelled or coerced into employment unless so assigned by Imperial jurisdiction, and given that the Unkillables do not presently exist in Imperial law, this is not possible. The fact that they are paid is irrelevant.
I might force you at knifepoint to make me a sandwich. The fact that I give you a hundred raditzes afterwards is irrelevant to the initiation of coercion.
Oh, so they are sapient! Apfel stated with feigned surprise. Forgive me, I have a hard time sensing the power of Mr. Mantis. It is as if I am detecting several people occupying the same space. One of them is...Arcosian? Nevertheless, the benefits you must offer them must truly be astounding. Don't move too quickly on trying to catch him on the fact that he IS, in fact, enslaving them. More importantly, it's a clue for Red Mantis to help guide Apfel in the right direction, of where to look for the smoking gun.
Good. Be wary of me. He thought back to Red Mantis. But even if things go exactly as I plan, your 'boss' can still force you against your will to fight us. He pointed out.

Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
Starlight, meanwhile, was still on the Shenron. She had stayed behind to work on converting the reformation spell into an anti-mind control spell. However, that wasn't to say that she was unaware of what was going on. As this was a state of emergency, she, like her friends, remained tapped into the Khala, that sort of telepathic space that allowed them to share their thoughts telepathically. So she saw everything. And when Vodkana gave her speech ... she snapped. Suddenly, an overwhelming feeling of guild washed over her. She cursed herself -- she knew letting Vodkana get close to Hailing was a bad idea! And then forcing her to betray him! The guilt was so bad that, for some time, she just stood there, her coat and mane growing ever so steadily grayer.
Yes, she knew what Vodkana was talking about. She knew about using other ponies for the greater good. The dark side of SMILE -- how she hated it. She knew that it was necessary to use Vodkana like that. And for the first time, she realized that if she had to do it all over again ... she would do it differently. Screw what was necessary for the universe, the universe would find a way. But no. No! She was a good pony, and stayed silent while this manipulation of her friend took place under her very nose.
Her coat continued to desaturate, the harmony within her slowly beginning to roil and become disrupted by her emotions. Suddenly, it was all too much. Too much! She disconnected herself from the Khala, and tears began streaming down her face. Dark thought began flowing through her head, an ember of a dark spark slowly flickering to liife. These people were her friends, but they were just ... messed up. This was messed up! It was all wrong!
....And wrong things needed to be fixed.
She could fix this.
It was just a matter of how.

The merc looks at you strangely, thinking your some raditz suit who is asking questions that don't make sense.
"Eh? where'd you get those from? overloads tend to be rare actually. That tends to only happen when you try to scan the big boys, y'know the famous ones that are way out of my pay grade to deal with, like Apfel or Rainbow Saber or some such- I hightail it to a different planet just from seeing one of those guys around, cause it means trouble if they're here to solve something, trouble I can't handle. Unlike what people think, scouters don't blow up every time it registers a higher than average power level, they'd be useless if that was the case. Its generally a bad idea to lose your scouter, getting caught without one is getting caught without any way to prove your side of a story. This because the real reason you most often lose your scouter is because some other guy shoots it off, for good tactical reasons to.
See, a scouter doesn't just function as a detector and assessor of power, but also as a communicator, internet connector and a recording device. Having one on, despite the risks due to fragility, is worth it because you can call for help, coordinate with other fighters, look up needed information, record to scout things out for a military or exploratory expedition and very importantly when dealing with the justice system: provide evidence when you get into a fight. Many experienced mercs use them to make sure they have some way of proving that they were defending themselves or otherwise stay above the law when needed, cause you want to both protect your life and keep it out of the slammer. Or at least provide a decoy while your hidden recording device survives, thats why I got Deglargo armor, because they often include a little built in camera for recording that sort of thing as well. Shooting off scouters is often a good tactical choice in battle, disrupts communications and whatnot, so thats the reason most are lost."
He sounds like he knows what he is talking about. Pity that most of those features are rendered obsolete by ki sensing and telepathy.
Deglargo HQ: Red Mantis Telepathy Chat Room
Vodkana senses that Red Mantises favorite food was pancakes....and that he considers waffles to be heresy.
He answers out loud in oddly recited lines:
"I am called Unkillable because I can regenerate from a single cell ma'am. That is as close to unkillable as anyone can reasonably get. Yes I like it here, it provides a sense of purpose and discipline."
He clearly cannot say what he really wants to say. Red Mantis thinks back to Oxyribo:
I'm sorry, who died and made you the King of Names? And wouldn't those names eventually run into the problem of sounding vaguely sexual, ironic considering how we don't reproduce that way?
Masala can come up with some! Helix, Heredita, Gene, Allela, Genotai, Domin, Recessin, Reprona, Nucleos, Haplo, Diplo, Chromosos, Epigen, Mutato, Embryon, Ribona...
I think we're getting off topic.
Yes, to focus: If you really want the evidence, I doubt your going to make him confess. The guy's been spinning lies his entire life. It doesn't benefit him to say we're programmed I'd say go for the research, it probably has all the evidence you need since they constantly tested whether the programming was working right on me, but won't be able to get them on the usual computers where'd they normally be. They've been wiped of that information and probably backed up to a hidden computer thats not on any network- best way to make sure it can't be hacked or found. I wouldn't know where it is.
Problem is, the person who would know, Head Engineer Rilla, and thus in charge of research and development...well, she had an attack of conscience years ago, when I was still small, tried to beg the CEO to stop. Now she is turned into a tireless cyborg ceaselessly working for the company by the very programming she helped develop to replace Gero's bad coding, the same programming that I'm controlled by. She isn't the only scientist here who made all this possible, but...she played a pretty big part.
there is also something they keep referring to as "the blueprint" when talking about us bio-androids. They never elaborate on it. And I've never seen any actual plan or piece of technology that we all originate from. There seems to be a common template for most that they've improved upon, but...I've never seen the actual original thing we've been innovated from. but then again I'm not allowed to look at that sort of thing, so what I do i know?
Also this company spends a weird amount of the power bill on refrigeration. Just something strange I noticed.
End of the Mist:
The mist foolishly goes inside. and comes face to face with a small bio-android with a yellow-and-black striped bee pattern, a piercing blue eyed glare, and black-and-yellow short spiky hair in the style of Killua's hair, a diaphanous bee wings and proboscis....A Yellow Princess.
"You....will not harm Mother!" she declares.
She reaches out and crushes the mist in her palm, using ki to dissipate and disperse it to nothing. She then turns to the shadowy figure sitting in the middle of the room and and bows respectfully to her. To this child it was a towering, distant figure no matter how closely she worked with her every day.
"It has been eliminated....did I do well, Mother?"
The figure was still distant and cold as she considered this. The Yellow Princesses blamed her not. She could not control this. She was a slave like the rest. They could only keep fighting through the dark, keep remaining loyal and hope that one day...
"...It was adequate." she said, trying to not care as much as possible. The Yellow Princess decided to treasure this compliment forever.
...They would all know what its like to feel love.
The Shenron
Beryl whispers to Jade:
"Was it REALLY a good idea to bring Starlight with us while she is in her current state? She seems.....distraught."
"You know the old saying: keep your friends close. While I don't doubt the Kais and Luxana's abilities, I think its best if she is among friends so we can keep an eye on her. That, and I'm taking a gamble that people in danger might snap her out of it. She has a good heart. If she does go crazy- as in full, super evil crazy because y'know, the greater the paragon the more devilish a villain they become- I, have my Goddess of Hyperdeath Form. It might be able to purge her of evil if it comes to that, considering that it can be powered by a spirit-bomb like ability. So don't worry....I have a plan in place."
"...Okay, but I don't think we should wait.... you keep up to date on the Delgargo situation, Masala, Pinappla? you keep tabs on Starlight."
"Good plan."
"You can count on me!"
They both nod and walk through the Shenron to find where Starlight is now.

"I'm the oldest of our kind in this universe, the strongest of our kind, and the closest thing you'll ever meet to a God due literally being a mortal-turned-God. That makes me the King of Name."
"Card Names on Motorcycles!"
"...so this is basically just a conferance call now?"
Oxy friezes after Red Mantis mentions a blueprint and clenches a fist at the comment"Aphel? Mention in as offhand a manner as possible about having heard of a being similar to the Unkillables... I wouldn't mention Cell by name, but... I really hope I'm wrong about this... Just, see how he reacts."
Red Mantis, how would one who say, teleported into an obscure part of the building and used the fact that his energy wasn't detectable to sneak around find this area where the refrigeration happens?
Oxy strains his ki senses to the limit, looking past the unkillable for any other Bio-android type energy signatures... Ones that would be too faint to pick up on the first glace, say from being frozen alive or otherwise in suspended animation.
"This just got 9001% more serious, didn't it?"

It was likely neither of them were prepared for what they saw. Neither of them had seen Starlight this distraught, ever. Jade, of course, had -- back on Equestria, before she gained her Rainbow Power form. She had been working on absolutely no sleep to stop Dust Devil, plagued by nightmares, guilt over being unable to protect everyone. Her inability to protect Trombone Jr. had been the last straw, causing her to take an attack out of guilt, but that just caused the shields she'd put up around the cities to fail, causing more suffering, and more guilt.
This guild, of course, had been magnified by the Nightmare, causing her to eventually turn into The Nightmare Star, a being with the power and intent to destroy the entire universe, sparing only those she deemed truly innocent to help the universe start anew. Thankfully, Jade, Beryl, and her other friends had been there to rainbow-blast the Nightmare out of her, including friends she'd long parted with, such as Oxy, Poka, Callins, and Aspa. If they hadn't been there, who knows what might have happened?
Here, she was equally distraught, in a similar way. Again, if Jade were there, she might recognize it like that time Discord took over and Twilight Sparkle lost her determination, her coat slowly desaturating as she cried -- except Starlight's tears weren't a pretty cry, like in movies. She stood stock still, as if blind and deaf to the world, tears streaming down her face.

Mentally responding on the telepathic conference call, Max noted ~Yep, it's been a conference call for a while now. By the by, if they used your genetic code without permission, wouldn't That be grounds for annihilating their entire business for endangering the integrity of your rule by producing pretenders to the throne? I mean, if you've got any inheritable titles, then any bio-android made with your genes would count much in the same manner as a bastard child would for the purposes of inheritance: While they wouldn't necessarily normally be in line to inherit, they could press a claim to do so, or have a claim pressed on their behalf to do so. Thus, by making use of someone's genetic code to effectively create a child of theirs, Delargo has created a threat to the stability of the empire itself, and in that manner they would fall under counter-terrorism laws? Maybe? I'm not entirely sure, the idea of inherited titles is kind of outdated for me. Even if that's not the case, corporations should probably not be considered free to steal other people's genetic information and use it without their permission.~
Back in meat space, however, Max cleared his throat and nodded, "Ah, so the problem is that people attack them often. It sounds like the solution to that problem would be to make a scouter durable enough not to be blown away by casual attacks then? If there was a full helmet with an integrated scouter, do you think that would do the trick? Or do you think that would put it out of the price range of most combatants such as yourself?"

Vodkana smiled. "I bet they also give you mountain of pancakes! Nya!" Vodkana didn't cared if Red Mantis will see through her- she hoped he will. So he will see, she geniounly want to befriend him.
So far her suggestion to hire and befriend them was ignored... well there were stuff going on.
[I] ummm.. guys? Is Starlight ok? I think Apfel can handle the situation here, and she seemed quite.. off. And- Aghhh!!!
Vodkana's telepathic message was cut in cry of pain when the Nightmare Mist wss destroyed.
Vodkana had limited conceration span, and to talk here, listetning to the telepathic link and keep constant check with the mist...
She let the mist to do as it pleased, and planned to get the infromation when it back.
Before it's desturction, he gave her one image.
On the outside, Vodkana's face cringed in pain, and her held her forehead for a moment.
....Sorry. something.. has destroyed my nightmare mist. It shouldn't be that easy, and the fact it was detected.. nya. I think there an unkillable with mystical abilities. A yellow one.. nya."

"....Yeah, I guess a more durable scouter or helmet would do, but the only thing I know of are those rumored katchin scouters and helmets some high end shops make. Real expensive though, for a merc you'd have to take really risky jobs for the rich, the Empire, or something incredibly shady in the underworld. And the mercs who take those jobs are CRAZY. Often doing it for the thrills as much as the pay and are really strong besides. I guess I'd love to have an affordable much more durable alternative, but I don't see how thats possible myself, with how ki is so destructive..."
He says shrugging, feeling like he can't answer much more.
Deglargo HQ
Well excuse me for not bowing and scraping like a good little subject, your oh so-great divineness! I'm not trading one master for another who thinks he is the first hotness of my kind just because he has this fancy energy flowing through him. Why the hell should I tell you that?
Red Mantis privately knew that his theory of an eighth bio-android not bound by their programming trapped down below was his own plan to free them. For all he knew he'd be giving up an alternate way to escape if Oxyribo didn't have his best interests in mind. He knew from his own memories of other people that it didn't matter if people were the same kind-there were always people throughout history who could be bad. For all Red Mantis knew, Oxyribo was the theoretical bad bio-android who inherited all the evil traits, that he most certainly deduced as a possibility himself.
The Shenron
Masala frowns.
"....Auntie Starlight...?"
Pinappla meanwhile calls back to Jade, describing her state:
"Shes lost color and seems depressed? Is that normal for ponies?"
Jade's eyes widen. She swears under breath: "Darn it Starlight..."
Then she contacts the others in the telepathy conference call, putting a commanding tone into it:
Everyone. Listen. A complication has come up. This will be dealt by us, the Shenron Team. If you see something out of the ordinary happening like a big ki fight outside involving me and anybody else. I have one rule you must follow:
DON'T. ABANDON. THE. MISSION. NO. MATTER. WHAT.
Don't come to help, don't stray from your positions and roles, don't endanger an operation to save the universe as we know it. This is nothing but a complication, that will be dealt with and is of no concern to you, unless we can't deal with it. You must act to accomplish the mission first. The complication is only a concern to you if it gets in the way. Got it? I will deal with it. Focus on the mission. I said don't endanger the mission Vodkana! There are four people right here who can take care of it without you breaking off. Focus on the mission. The entire universe is counting upon us.
She says cutting it off, then beckoning Beryl to follow her straight away to Starlight. Right now there is too much high stakes to let this operation get out of control. If she told them it was Starlight, there'd be questions and emotions flaring that could hurt their performance, distract them from saving the universe in which they live from the time loop, the bio-androids and the corporation. The mission was now underway and breaking from their roles and positions would only hurt it. They come in, and she lets Beryl talk:
"Starlight? You don't seem to be okay. I want you to know that we're here for you...y'know? That we're your friends and you can talk to us about anything. I know the lack of color is bad and considering what happened last time.....well....I want to help, because we all need help sometimes, and you clearly need some help right now."
Jade just stays silent and ready in case she needs to act fast, while Masala looks worried and Pinappla wary. Jade then reconsiders and thinks to the telepathy conference:
Ok lets be real: Vodkana is probably going to try and want to help with Starlight no matter what, so my condition is that she can help as long as she successfully gets out of Deglargo HQ without arousing suspicion first.

"Never said you had to, Princess Moody. No one's asking you to trade for another mster, so think of me less as your Lord and Saviro and more the guy who knowss full well how dangerous it is to have our kind running around and is rather concerned with some sociopathic businessman making them en mass. A personal army of things that are a pain in the ass to kill is bad enough even ignoring the whole risk of 'inheriting only negative traits and coming out psychopathic manchild that kills for it's own amusement' thing."
Think of me less as your New Master and more the guy that's going to kill and possibly eat Delargo if it turns out that we can't shut this thing down legally... And the guy that's going to destroy the cloning facilities regardless because seriously, that kind of tech can't be allowed to proliferate.

I would like to see his abilities demonstrated. Apfel suggested to Deglargo. If he possesses the strength you claim he does. He didn't need to see it obviously, but it helps Apfel look the part of an interested, if ignorant customer.
I suspect I know what 'The Blueprint' is. I could be mistaken but all I know is that Deglargo did not invent the technology to construct you. Or rather, all he could say without it sounding absolutely absurd. I would say more but you wouldn't believe me. But welcome to our conference call.
Yes, refrigeration, especially at supercool temperatures, can keep organic samples preserved for extended periods of time, or be used to cool computers. Though it's unclear which one it is, perhaps both. Regardless...I would like to meet Rilla. Everyone on the 'call' could hear his telepathic voice trembling. She will be free, with the rest of you.
Perhaps you could elaborate more, on their design. He asked Deglargo.

"Ah, Katchin? No, that material would be terrible, even if you could mass produce it. Even with the durability that it has, it's simply too heavy. Wearing even a thin layer of it would be the kind of terrible burden that could kill someone without a sufficient power level, so making a scouter out of it would be senseless. That said, there Are other materials that could be utilized for a greater durability than those currently in use. It mostly comes down to what the average power level of the combatants is. If you could help me narrow that down, then I could figure out a material to use for armoring a scouter to make it durable enough to survive combat at that level. Then you would have a good indicator of if someone is too much for you: If they can break your scouter, it might be time to retreat." Max nodded a bit, still talking with the mercenary.
~Stay here and maintain cover? Can do. If things are particularly problematic, you know how to reach me.~ Max responded to the telepathic conference call.

"That," Starlight interrupted, her voice mostly emotionless save for a faint but cold edge of anger. "Right there. Jade, do you know what I hate about you, right at this moment? You, this little group, heck, even S.M.I.L.E.? It's that the mission always comes first.
"And yes, I get it. I understand why that's important. But right now, I don't care. I'm tired of the mission. Because Vodkana was right about something. You do use people. That is why the situation with Vodkana got so out of control, after all. Because you did use her. Eleven years ago, when we set out to defeat Hailing. Do you remember that? I do. I remember how you took a vulnerable young woman and made her infiltrate Hailing's inner circle. Did you know what would happen? That they would fall in love? That Hailing would come to mean so much to her? And then you made her betray him. Sweet Celestia, what did you think would happen?!" Suddenly, the pony gained a spike of energy, her voice and demeanor growing infuriated. "How could you not see what would happen? How could you not see this coming from lightyears away?!"
Suddenly, a humorless chuckle. "Of course, look at me. I'm no better, I let you do it. I was a coward, I sat there and did nothing while you messed that girl up. It's ... it's all my fault." Starlight's voice trailed off. "Vodkana ... I'm sorry...."" she mumbled. Then she glanced up, and she saw Pinappla among the group. "Heh ... and now you have a new pupil. Around the same age, too. So what are you going to do to this one? Make her betray her king? Or how about that half-Nyagato she's such good friends with? I'm sure that would mess her up perfectly well. Well, Jade? I want you to know one thing." Her eyes hardened. "I am done being a coward. And I will not let you do that ever again."

Deglargo HQ:
Oxyribo indeed does not detect any such ki. In reflection, it doesn't make any sense why he would detect the other seven Bio-androids, because if they were so easily detected by ki-sensing, why hasn't any of the other ki users out there in the city detected the Unkillables? Perhaps Deglargo industries built in some cheaper anti-scouter detection protection and then some stronger anti-ki sensing protection for the depths of their complex at separate times to make sure the Unkillables themselves didn't detect what was down there.
"Very well, guard, demonstrate his regeneration capabilities." CEO Deglargo says
Listen here you...wait what abou-
Any rant from Red Mantis was cut off as the nearby guard blasts off his head and he falls over, then a few moments later he regenerates his head in a burst of juice and stands right back up.
"Aaaaaaaaagggghh!!! Not again! and I-"
Then he cuts into various pieces and regenerates from it.
"OOOOOOOW!!!-don't even get any boost from it-
The upper Half of him is blasted off and he regenerates from that as well.
"AAAARRRGH!!-I just come back like some stupid bug version of Deadpool-"
He is blasted so all that remains of him is a head then regenerates from that in a burst as well.
"AaAarAgaAargAhh!!-its freaking painful as HFIL!"
Soon it stops. He decides to say what he could, because otherwise he would probably experience more near-deaths like that as demonstrations....forever.
Fine fine! I'll tell! The Deglargo Depths, I don't know whats down there but they probably have places, but they are locked from me by full-body DNA scanners and the fact that even when no one is around to order me otherwise I can't teleport down to those lower levels for some reason- it just doesn't work to get down there. Probably some short range thing that jams teleporting somehow, I don't know. Though there is a group of scientists that consistently go down there, and probably know EXACTLY what the nature of all this is whose paychecks are all dependent on them keeping that stuff under wraps so...whatever horrors are down there....be wary, because Deglargo only shows you the stuff that DOES work....anything he can't dispose of or use, he hides away. Like Purple Moth. Thats all I know.
When the demonstration is finished, CEO Deglargo claps his hands.
"Now that you've seen how Unkillable he truly is, I urge you that you MUST simply take a gander at the Unkillables who improved upon him! I mean he is impressive, I understand if you need some time to take in how marvelous even the basic design is, making him at all was a great achievement, but the rest is just his ki attacks and you know all about how that works, lets not ignore the even greater heights we've soared to, yes?"
He begins leading you away towards Black Scorpion.

Jade stays calm, eyes narrowing. There was some truth to her words. If two different people were accusing her of being manipulative, then it was probably true. But she can't break down about it now, no matter how much she wanted to. The fact remained was the innocent people outside were counting on her to keep them safe.
"If I recall, I did not encourage Vodkana to do her infiltration schtick. I didn't even know she started that until it was too late. She made her own decision there. I had my own reservations about it, but the girl had a need to be useful, I was trying to be open-minded to what she wanted to do. I in fact recall saying that she could back out at any time. Yes that was a mistake. I should've been more adamant about her not fighting, or having anything to do with Hailing. My philosophy is that we all have our freedom, our own decisions to make. All I can do is try to teach people to make the right decisions and trust that they will make them.
I'll be honest, that philosophy isn't really working with Vodkana. Trusting her to be responsible hasn't been working out a lot of the time. I guess that just doesn't work for everyone? Especially a rich hedonist alien from a culture I have no understanding of? I guess what she thinks of as a figure to look up to might not be I think it is. Who knows what unconscious archetypal mythological Nyagato figure I resemble to her? And I guess there is a measure of truth to all this....but I guess thats what you get when you try to be a pragmatic batman-like person, you end up using the people around you, Exhibit A: Robin....also happens with The Doctor.....point is, smart calm heroes with plans? turns out everyone starts looking like tools to doing good.
Its not as if I come from a culture that is really good at treating people as people myself, admittedly? internet age Earth despite its greater connectivity actually got worse at face-to-face communication and empathy because of the technology. There is actually an interesting book about it. I never said I became perfect or that no longer needed to improve, life is all about learning and everyone's a student. But I am not going to kill King Vegeta, heck I stopped Vodkana from killing him! If I wanted him dead, all I would've had to do was NOTHING.
Sure I could stand to be less of a Batman, I should probably own up to that, but I'm not going around killing things just because they tick me off, I'm not Oxyribo-Don't start Oxy you know its true!- and King Vegeta didn't tick me off, he seems like a relatively sane guy saddled with a rowdy bunch of fight-happy cats to rule. On the other hand if I wasn't so batmanipulative all the time, I'd probably be saying "screw it" a lot and trying to just punch all my problems as if that'll solve everything. or be very emotional and draw upon RAGE and Determination, that probably isn't very good either? I guess I might need to find a level of good beyond batmanipulative or being Rage McPunchface? Maybe go on a quest for spirituality and/or rebalancing myself after his? Its not as if I have any particular goals at the moment aside from making sure nothing is on fire...
But we're getting off topic, namely your mental state? Putting aside mission concerns, this is not good for your mental health...your not in your right state of mind....so lets try and calm down, I'm not going to escalate things....I just want my friend back to normal, y'know the Starlight that loves animals so much she saved an entire planet full of them when everyone else had given up on them-the kind of person that might be a better hero and person than me! Who knows? I'm not competing in a virtue contest or anything! Point is....we're all concerned about you. If your really concerned about me being manipulative.....well I've said my peace. Let others speak for once, I'm tired of my speeches."
She sits down cross-legged, sighing, a bit of sadness welling up inside her, even as she knows she must keep going. Her Determination would not allow her to stop.

Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
Vodkana still held her head in pain.
"Jade-san... nya? I am worried.. this isn't about me.. right? I.. can fix it. It's my fault.. I feel it."
To Oxy
"I can guide you, I think.. my nightmare mist almost gotten there, until someone.. has destroyed it. nya'
Vodkana has breathed deeply, almost missing the demonstration.
'Umm. yeah... I guess..." she looked distracted.
'Bye. Red Mantis, we will meet again."

Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
Red Mantis:
He considers the question of how to get to Deglargo depths for a second
....Down? Okay, thats the snarky answer, sorry. But you can't get to it by any of the official elevators, those stop at Floor 1, and Deglargo Depths is past DNA-Scanner doors where the official company basements stop. Thats hundreds of floors under us. Yes its just as annoying to the people who actually go down there to work as it probably will be to you, I heard them complain about the security around here once or twice about how much of a pain it is get through. but thats just the cost of working at a paramilitary company: you've got to adopt some military security measures for safety.
Go, Vodkana. It sounds like you care for her, like family right? Cause I'd do anything for the Unkillables....they're my family. No matter how broken they are. I hope to help them as well.
CEO Deglargo looks at her leaving and shrugs.
"Call us later if you still want those Weedlings for pets!"
He says cheerily. You get out of there easily, your like some criminal mastermind right? So getting out there without arousing suspicion is nothing for you.
Jade:
She shrugs as she thinks to Vodkana
Well I've already said you can help as long as you get out of there without arousing suspicion. Which is probably not a problem for you, because of what you do? So. Get here Vodkana, and help. Its not as if I can stop you from you making the decisions you make. I've learned that from Arcos.
She sighs. It hurt that Vodkana would follow her desires no matter how amoral it was to Jade, but if she couldn't teach her morality, she could at least make sure she did wrong correctly and competently, to run damage control. She now knew that Vodkana was going to do what she wants no matter what, so there was no point in trying to control her goals, only the methods to achieve them.
Deglargo Industries
Deglargo leads to Black Scorpion, a jet-black bio-android with pincers instead of hands and big scorpion tail, he looks bulkier and bigger than Red Mantis, demonstrating his overwhelming strength on his training targets by smashing them with pure force.
"Behold! Our second model, Black Scorpion. Unlike Red Mantis he is very durable and gets stronger every time he nearly dies. Unfortunately this only happens in real combat- a demonstration like this simply won't trigger the right things. His scorpion tail deliver a normal poison and also fire a poisonous beam. Now you may wonder why has has no hands! The answer is that hands are obsolete to him! He can accomplish all normal hands can do with telekinesis, so why bother with the hands? Thus pincers that just smash and crush the enemy to optimize his hand to hand combat skills! He is our heavy trooper to Red Mantises common soldier. When you need someone to take more hits and dish out more destruction, he is your guy! Isn't that right, Black Scorpion?"
"SCORPION SMASH!"
He says in stereotypical hulk speak, then sends you guys telepathy, his voice deep:
He left out that I'm supposed to eat people with my tail to get stronger, and that all my bros and sisters instead take DNA with little needles in their fingers they sheathe and unsheathe at will. And that I want me HANDS!! I only developed my telekinesis for getting around that! And he makes me sound like some stupid thug, while acting as if the telekinesis was HIS idea! The real reason why he didn't give me hands was so that I'd be forced to focus entirely on combat, the jerk. Screw him, I'd like to see him do rocket science in his head to pass the time! By the way, know any good challenges? It gets boring around here, doing the same things every day. Not just physically but mentally to. Only one of the reasons this place ticks me off, y'know? That and I don't get fed Pineapple pizza enough, best food in the world and everyone thinks its weird, its the world thats weird, I say. don't appreciate all the good things it has, like pineapple pizza, good fights, having hands, the mathematical beauty of fractals spiraling downwards into infinity....
He seems to have inherited Gohan's scholarly intelligence, the saiyan lust for battle AND Goku's genius for it. He is friendly, but clearly isn't thinking long term. And is....kind of odd. Yet, under Deglargo he would only be seen as a brute to smash things.

Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
I am so. Sorry. Apfel telepathically apologized to Red Mantis for the part he played in his unnecessary suffering, though he did his best to remain stoic throughout that cruelty. He had to restrain himself from showing any outward signs of aggression, let alone simply obliterating both Deglargo's and the guard's torsos with a single punch.
Apfel once again gave Black Scorpion an appraising glare, if only for the benefit of Deglargo. Shock troopers to the Line troopers that Red Mantis represents. He remarked thoughtfully. All with explosive regenerative ability. He then has a thought. This model looks to have limited utility outside of combat, and civilization cannot exist in a state of perpetual war. He muses. Knowing full well Black Scorpion was not an idiot, but he was still playing ignorant.
Modern cybernetics do simulate tactile sensation. Apfel suggested to Black Scorpion telepathically. Though we cannot focus on this, right now. What can you tell me about Deglargo Depths?

"Poka, crystal ball!"
Crystal ball!
Oxy and Poka are still in telepathic contact wit Aphel and listening in... but are now using him and the locations of known power levels to scry on the building to find some way into the depths.

[Vodkana]
'Of course, you can, you baka. Nya! You are my Senpai, just ask me, and I'll do anything! Have I ever refused to do anyting you have asked me to? I am your number 1 fan. Hardcore. Nya. I trust you... it was just an offer. I don't care whether you good or bad, or even if you hate me- I love you, you are my friend and Senpai. Please.. remember it. I simply, feel repsponsible to what ever going on with Starlight. But I know, that you know better than I do.""
Vodkana took a deep breath, and gotten hold of herself.
She just stopped to give a warm hug to Red Manits, and has followed along. 'I know. And that what I am doing. I am trusting. When you love someone, you got to know to sacrifice. I trust Jade-Senpai to call me, if I am needed. She need me here, for now.
Vodkana mewed with horror.
Pizza with pineapples?! Oh nya! I really need to bake for you a real pizza! And well, I think that after some training, I could shape for you hands. Though, it would be a dangerouse task. Nya. But.. Pizza with.. pineapples? You poor poor soul!"
She has collected herself."I do like the bulk! nya! I could think of many uses for you, Black Scorpion-kun! Nyahaha!"
Pizza.. with... pineapples... urgh.'

Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
Delargo Storefront
"Ah, hm. 10,000 you say? Well, if you don't mind, I'll check and see if I have my own product calibrated to the same standard. If so, producing something that can survive the rigors of combat at that level is likely within the capabilities of my company." As he spoke, Max put on a show of tapping the side of his wrap around shades, pressing a button that had been built into the side to blend in with the rest of it. The scouter-shades beeped, once, displaying the power level that Max had known they would display. But there was a purpose in the bluff he was making: it established that he was new to the market. Which fed back into the case that he had been building, should Apfel need to draw on it for the purposes of social manipulation of Delargo.
"Ah, yes, good. For a moment I was worried that I might have used the wrong unit of measurement, which would have meant the display would be showing up in a number scale that didn't conform to what's in regular usage. That would have been most embarrassing. But since that's confirmed as correct, I can safely say that, given a little time to start a production run and get items to market, we could start producing armor, clothing, scouters, and other such items that would be more than capable of withstanding the rigors of combat up to a 20,000 range. Why, this outfit, fashionable, breathable, and all that, can withstand a ki blast into the range of 50,000. Now, that won't stop someone's fist from breaking my bones or pulping my insides, but at least my corpse would be well dressed and my liquified remains would have a convenient carrying bag." Max concluded with a good natured chuckle, mostly curious to see the mercenary's response. He was also wondering if Delargo even bothered to monitor the storefront. Max had assumed there'd be some kind of survielance that would work it's way through the system at some point....but he might have been basing his presence in the store on a bad assumption.
Back on the telepathic conference call, however, Max responded to Black Scorpion ~Well, if you have the same kind of regenerative abilities that I've noted in other Bio-androids, then replacing your appendages with hands might be as simple as removing one and nudging the healing in the right direction. It will really come down to if the DNA for hands has been completely excised from your system, or if it was deactivated and left as 'junk DNA'. Even if hand DNA is still there, some of your arm muscles might need to be modified, or tendons might need to be laid in, or both. Then you'll need to learn to move and control them. But that would probably be the easiest part. Cybernetics is another option, but the moment your regeneration kicks in, it might forcibly and painfully eject them.~

Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
If we're talking cybernetics, that's actually my on-paper specialty. That and techno-organics. I can probably whip up some cyberhands that would merge directly into his physiology intead or repalcing amputated limbs...
I mean, it's how I did my own conversions.

The crystal ball might need some calibration, because before they get it to show what they want, it shows them a smattering of related events from the building and its surroundings.
Turns out, Apfel's not the only one interested in the bio-andoids. There's a number of other interstellar big wigs on the landing pad and in the building's cafeteria, waiting for their turn to see the demonstration on them androids. Among them, at least one Yardratian.
Elsewhere in the building, a frustrated Deglargo Industries employee is Spoogling something called "Digital Devil Summoning Program", all the while hissing that he will have his revenge on those co-workers who bullied him. On another computer screen, his open Spacebook account shows a number of click-baity headlines like "Shocking xenoarcheology find on Yardrat: are we headed towards new Teleport Wars?" and "Serious security flaw found on Spacebook: seriously, delete your account NOW!"
In yet another location, a researcher is having a heated discussion with a slightly unhinged looking Arcosian. If Apfel was to look up his files, he'd find that ten to twelve years ago, when Hailing's ship stumbled upon Earth, this Arcosian was on the team to reverse-engineer the teleporter and hyperbolic time chamber found on the lookout. They were discharged due to mental health problems.

Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
The Shenron:
"....Thanks."
She thinks no more, wanting others to speak.
See, with a sentiment like that I think I have to declare Vodkana my rival in being Jade's No. 1 Fan anyways? Also I feel guilty because I'm the one who talked Jade into causing this chain of events, I think I should be responsible, really. I'm new here, I didn't know what dynamic was going with all this, so I screwed it all up in my ignorance....
I....I'm bad at thinking deeply and whatnot but.....I know I like Auntie Starlight and that if she goes crazy it'd be bad for everyone, and I know that J-Mom can be harsh but she always has her reasons even if she isn't always good at expressing her feelings, and that Vodkana isn't crazy now and if she falls a lot she has always managed to get back up, and thats not so different from Pinappla? Or Jade herself? And that maybe apart of being a good person is knowing that some falls are inevitable and that you have to be prepared to rise back from them no matter how hard it is? I dunno what I'm saying....
I care about you Starlight, and I care about everyone here. I don't do this for utilitarian reasons- but because protecting people is right. As is healing you. I don't know if anyone is a hero thats needed, but I do know that Jade is one of the heroes that we have. And that we work with what we have to get the most good we can. Because that is all we can do.
Pinappla, Masala and Beryl all pitch their two cents in.
Storefront:
The merc reacts with amazement a Max's news, a surveillance camera picks up him declaring the price and products and the person watching this notifies someone higher up:
"This guy is trying to steal our customer, I don't think that should be happening...."
"...I'll speak with him..."
Soon one of Deglargo's middle-managers comes walking down to Max
"What in Lun-V are doing? You trying to steal our customers from our own store!? You have some nerve! This is Deglargo private property, sell things in your own shop you buzzard!"
The mercenary nor the cashier are bewildered and don't know whats happening right now.
Deglargo HQ
Black Scorpion thinks on this.
The only immediate information on that I can give is that I once saw them taking a weird saibaman down there that they wanted contained. The younger bio-androids will probably have only bits of information on that place as you go along.
But I can tell you general information on places LIKE Deglargo Depths in wide socio-economic sense: its on the same level as the undertowns of any mega-city. Such undertowns, are referred to by many names: "tunnel towns", "undercities", "underslums", "sewer cities" and so on. They are generally full of the economically poor, criminals and anyone wanting to escape ki-users quickly. This is because stray ki blasts could destroy complicated structures put down at the beginning of the cities construction that if destroy could send entire sections of the city crashing down on them. Thus the criminal underbosses that control such places forbid any ki blasts or explosives and arm their thugs with bullet-based guns considered outdated everywhere else. They figure that any sane ki user will need to suppress their power enough to give them a fighting chance while any insane ki user would already be destroying the planet or the city without ever seeing them.
These places are high in disappearance rates as they are often a network of maintenance tunnels, reactors often geothermal or fusion in nature, sewers, outdated elevator shafts, and things that just got built over as time passed. The Deglargo Depths probably are closed off from the rest and don't have the underclass in them...unless they went for that old "kidnap people no one will miss for experiments" dealie.... but point is, is hugely structurally important and cramped down there, there is a reason no sane ki user goes down there, more than Deglargo will get wrecked if you screw something up. Lots of people who have nothing to do with this will die, and that ain't right.
But none of that is really important to freeing us, so I don't know why your asking about it? Do you want to fight the potentials horrors down there more than me? Aaaaaw, I feel so sad. Here I am, a year upon years developed bio-android a successful experiment with a style worked out and everything, and now your more interested in the things are probably failures and screwed up nonsense that are nowhere near as good fights as us, with bad attempts at horror. It hurts me pride it does. Do I have to make ya have a good fight with me? Cause I'm sure we can have a good time fighting. It'll be lots of fun, you'll see! Whats really waiting for ya down there, some twisted experiments and kidnapped people turned into failed horrors? So lame. I mean I guess its good and moral and such, but whats the point if you don't have a fun fight with it?
The Goku is strong with this one. He looks at Vodkana.
...Why do the girls always say that to me? Can never right figure it out. And Pineapple Pizza is a treasure, a wonder of the world, just like durians or the platypus!
Then he considers the arm discussion
I guess either method could work. Better save that for when I'm free though. Never thought about manipulating my regeneration like that....
C-C-C-Crystal Ball!:
Okay so, the power levels are a rudimentary map to scry through the building....Okay, so most of the power levels are guards, so you can basically work out their patrol patterns and where they are guarding to give you a shape of the corridors and such, so you go downwards, to floor one then find this door that leads into the basement floors, where more guards are, and its filled with all kinds of utility and cargo stuff that doesn't look pretty but does its job, but this isn't the Depths yet. given that the Depths are where all the stuff Deglargo wants to hide from others, that means that door to it is hidden. And you don't have any idea where to start looking for where it might be. because Red mantis technically didn't say where that DNA scanner door was in the basement, it got lost in talking about other stuff? It happens.
Deglargo:
He suddenly receives a phone call.
"Oh, hold one sec, thats the urgent matter ring tone..."
He picks up.
"Yes?"
Chatter.
"....What? They're already here? Why was I not informed of this!? They're not supposed to be here yet! My secretary worked out schedule for a reason!"
Damn Kalzin and his reckless risky taking ways! He distracted him! Also his secretary is so fired. While there was a schedule, galactic VIPs like this were very busy people and wouldn't want their time wasted. Keeping them waiting was probably a bad idea. That and this was an opportunity: Why show them to only two people when he can show these bio-androids to more people and thus likely get more offers? its also probably best to make Apfel more competitive in his offer.
"I apologize Emperor Apfel but it appears other VIPs have arrived ahead of schedule and its most likely unfair to not include them in the tour an unexpected turn of events I say! I'll have them brought in shortly..."
-
Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
Soon, half a dozen shady characters join the tour: a green Yardratian, in gold and purple clothes; a dark green Namekian of the Warrior clan; a humanoid with a giant metal sphere for a head, dressed in blue-and-black sorcerer's robes; a hulking reptilian with bright blue scales; a female hominid with bright red skin and dark blue hair tied in a tight bun, wearing a black dress and loads of gaudy jewelry; and a giant pink toad.
It's quite a diverse bunch, originating from all over the galaxy... or perhaps the universe. The one with a metal sphere for a head might actually be from Andromeda.
The first three are unknowns, but Apfel might recognize the latter three as representing civilizations that had their own imperialist schemes going on before being crushed by expanding Arcosians. Forget the potential for a new Cell - even if the Unkillables functioned just like Deglargo wants, hiring them to these people could fan old flames into a conflagration and lead to interstellar wars of the scale that haven't been seen in this universe yet.
In any case, after exchanging mandatory pleasantries, they join the tour and Deglargo can move to his next exhibit.

Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
Delargo Storefront
"Buzzard? Good sir, I am simply trying to be good competition. Which, of course, includes informing my competition of the kinds of products and price point they will be competing with. After all, a monopoly doesn't help the stability of the economy, it doesn't help customer satisfaction, and it doesn't help to ensure the quality of the product. So, having healthy competition allows companies to keep each other reasonable so that the government doesn't see the need to step in and regulate. That said, I am not intending to compete in the drugs market, so you'll need someone else to be good competition in that regard. If you're wondering why I keep going on about good competition, it's because bad competition leads to monopolies, which destabilize the economy by concentrating too much wealth into too few hands, at which point a crash is much easier to inadvertently cause, leading to that same accumulation of wealth becoming worthless." Max was spinning his yarn at a mile a minute, not resisting if the manager was trying to usher him out of the store front, but trying to spin the situation so that the middle manager might consider it a good thing that Max was in the store.
Meanwhile, on the Telepathic Conference Call ~I uh, I'm not super clear on the what's going on with Starlight, but is this one of those situations where a hug could solve the problem? I just get the feeling it might be. On the note about manipulation of the regeneration process though, you'll want to be careful. I'm assuming that your body has a natural capacity to emit healing ki, so to accomplish your aim you'll want to focus on getting some amount of conscious control over that process and then working out the details.~

Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
"Well, I can get to the basement if I need to but no idea how to get past the DNA door or if it's even there."
Poka takes the ball back and is now monitoring the basement in case anything happens down there.
"Aphel, out of curiosity, if I put on a disguise and teleported into the tour party claiming to be a terrorist who knew what was in the secret subasements and tried to take you and Delargo hostage to force him to show me what's in the secret subbasements, would any illegal activities uncovered in the process be admissible or would that count as entrapment under galactic law? I'm not saying I want to do it, but I won't say I don't want to do it..."
"...seriously, we know they're stealing tech from at least one future. If they've got Cell or one of my siblings on ice down there than this went from a potential galactic threat to a confirmed one."
"And if they've got some version of Majin 21 then we are so ****ed that it's not even funny."
Do Callins and Aspa know that you're using that kind of language?
"I'm 20! I'm older than you! I was older then you when I actually was a kid."
-
Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
What?! How is that possible? I only know about the Unkillables through cleverness and guile, yet these intergalactic nobodies somehow figured out the existence of the Unkillables but know that Deglargo industries is pushing forward a technology that isn't even privately available! The probability that they would all come in at the same time is astronomically improbable and that they could even possibly get their hands on such overwhelmingly powerful soldiers could mean their ambitions of intergalactic dominion have not yet abated in the decades under Hailing's ruling and my attempts at diplomacy have been completely unsuccessful therefore... Suffice to say, Apfel's mind was racing a mile a minute. This REALLY threw him off.
By all means. He smiled, even though he was internally screaming. He still needed to get a hold of a scientist, then scour their mind for information. Or rather specifically, one mind.
Do no such thing. He replied to Oxy.

Re: [DBitp] Here Comes The Son
Apfel should take a deep breath. A lot could be explained by Deglargo or one of his employees slipping these people a notice that something good will be on sale soon...
... plus, it's a big galaxy. A lot more than three civilizations had a beef with Arcosian rule. If it's only these three to six people interested, then Apfel has done a stellar job. Interstellar, one could say.
