Amber
The purugly falls as your karp slams into it. The trainers mouth hung open in astonishment, though he quickly pulled himself together. That was ... unexpected. How did you get such a powerful magikarp? Even I can't breed mon to hit that much harder than normal.
Jakob
The airiodos scurries away and shoots a poisoned barb at Rammus. It deals 28 physical poison damage, though it fails to give the sandshrew any long term problems to worry about.

Zachariah. I suppose I owe you some money then don't I? He sighs dramatically and pulls out some bills. Here He hands you wad of bills.
Jakob
The ariados spasms from the blow, but hangs on to consciousness by a thread. Angrily, it shoots beams of dark energy from its eyes which do a flat 20 unchangeable damage.
-
Re: Prologue to Disaster (PTA) IC
Amber recalls her pokemon and takes the money with a grin and counts it, "Well, I don't normally tell me secrets, but I'll make you a deal. I've not eaten today and I've not been to this town in a while, so buy me lunch and I'll tell you how I've been working on getting my Magikarp to be as strong as a Gyarados. You mentioned being a breeder so you should be good with pokemon."
-
Re: Prologue to Disaster (PTA) IC
He thought about it plaintively for a second, obviously thinking it over. I haven't done any breeding in a while, I've started to focus on making my pokemon evolve earlier than on strengthening them through breeding. It may not work for me.
-
Re: Prologue to Disaster (PTA) IC
"Ah, then you and me are pretty similar, since I'm pretty good at that too." Amber says with a grin, "So if you are able to evolve pokemon sooner, then you'll definitely be able to make unevolved pokemon really powerful." She states, "So I'm 95% sure it'd work for you or your money back."

Zach takes you to one of the cheapest joints in town. Grinning in pleasure at not having to spend more than he has to, he buys you a single patty burger, some fries, and a soda, with the same thing for himself.

Rammus cleanly knocks out the Airiados. The bug was quickly returned, and you were asked to return your sandshrew and send out Rhopa for her battle.
When you do, you are confronted with what appears to be a large mass of gas with two large hands. Your pokedex identifies it as a haunter: a dual type poison/ghost. It quickly leaps into action before Rhopa can act, and Confuses the Butterfree.

Re: Prologue to Disaster (PTA) IC
Amber chuckles to herself and refrains from saying anything about 'treating' a girl. "Alright, the process is actually pretty simple, but pretty cool." Amber explains, "We are good at evolving pokemon, but have you ever pictured the process in reverse? The trick is to learn how to devolve a pokemon and convert it back to it's old form. The pokemon maintains the knowledge and some of the features of the evolution. While it technically isn't as strong as an evolved pokemon, it can catch an opponent by surprise when you have a weaker pokemon launching attacks with the same power as an evolved pokemon."

Re: Prologue to Disaster (PTA) IC
Hmm. He munches on his fries while thinking. Can you show me? We can use one of my mons. It sounds like it could be useful in battle.
He finishes the as quickly as he can, hoping you will show him the trick.

He thinks for a bit, and nods. We'll use clock. He releases the gears that his Zoroark had impersonated when you went outside.
He watches you intently, watching to see if there was some trick involved.
Jakob
Rhopa launches a powerful psychic attack. It hits the Haunter hard, and the poison type explodes in a burst of dark matter. The chatter of the crowd dies down as they realize what happened. After a minute, the announcer spoke over the loudspeakers.
Due to the death of one of our pokemon, the battle tent is closing for the night. Thank you all for coming, and there will be a service for the haunter tomorrow. The crowd doesn't argue, and the tent begins to empty.
The announcer walks up to you and hands you a wad of bills. Here's your winnings. Thank you for competing.
Leon
You find the sign up easily. Under the section that best fits your level of skill, you can choose between two options. "Battle Roulette" and "Gladiator." Battle Roulette was described as fighting randomly typed opponets, while the Battle Roulette's goal was to faint the opposing trainer before you yourself were fainted.

Re: Prologue to Disaster (PTA) IC
"Alright...hope I can do it the first time. It's pretty tricky and if it doesn't work it takes a day to be able to try it again." Amber mumbles as she walks up to the pokemon. The tricky thing was canceling an evolution after it occurred and encouraging a revert. She spoke softly to the pokemon while encouraging it to release some of it's energy. "I can only do it like 25% of the time, thus why I sometimes take a few days."

Re: Prologue to Disaster (PTA) IC
Jakob watches as the ghost explodes. It was a Ghost Type? How the hell had Rhopa killed it?
Rhopa, return. That's not your fault, he says, sighing. He picks up the rest of his team then searches for a place on the edge of town where he could set up camp.

Re: Prologue to Disaster (PTA) IC
Amber
The man sighed when his pokemon failed to evolve. Well, I suppose I can start experimenting with the technique in my spare time. I haven't seen you around before. Are you new here, or just passing through?
Jakob
You find a nice meadow relatively easily. The wilds around here are generally peaceful and avoid humans when they can. You shouldn't be disturbed tonight.

Not sure if that was a Jakob IC comment or Arc OOC. If it was Arc OOC: Haunter is poison/ghost, which gives it 2x weakness to psychic attacks as ghost does not resist psychic.

Feeling that his recent experience might help him in gladiator, he considers using that one. If elemental powers such as his ability to channel electricity is allowed, he'll definitely sign up for that one.

"I used to work at the breeder's just to the east, I lived over in Mauville but been doing a job and traveling around." Re: Prologue to Disaster (PTA) IC
Amber
He shrugs casually. Eh. Breeders come, breeders go. We all have our own skillsets that we're known for. As for breeding, I've done more than my fair share - either pokemon or otherwise.
Jakob
Assuming you don't release the onix or teddiursa, your pokemon seem content to play together while you cook.

Anything goes in the battle royal. You'll need to chose one pokemon to fight alongside you before you enter the ring.

Jakob grins, just lying back for a moment. He pulls out some Apricorns and starts to tinker with them, trying to build a ball that could capture even an unconscious Pokemon.
Rammus, always the loyal soldier, comes and plops down next to his trainer, content the watch his friend's swift fingers move.
When he finishes, he tries to think of a game he could play with his Pokemon. They were his friends, and as such he needed to come up with something.
Rammus, explain Fliers Up, alright? he says, looking for a good sized rock.
Once the Pokemon were briefed by Rammus, Jakob lobs the rock into the air.
