Partially-complete class. Wall. Off of it.
Given that the contest was extended, I should be able to submit a class to it. It's going to use a magic system similar to invocations, and it would be cool of Zaydos could make an NPC out of it.
@Beelzebub1111: What is the energy type associated with Air? I'm guessing you're using the Elemental Savant pairings, but I've seen Air paired with electricity and cold (for example Ice Paraelementals have the Air and Cold subtypes but not Water for some reason).
Air is...I suppose half associated with electricity. Since they're quasi-elemental planes and air positive is lightning. Is there something that I wrote in there that requires an associated energy type? I tried to avoid those things.
I always house-ruled that Ice Para-elementals have the water air and cold subtypes, but that's my thing.
Quasi-Elemental Focus at Lv 1. +2 to AC and saves against spells with the energy descriptor associated with the element. And yeah that's what I figured but I thought I ought to mention it since you can't always trust people to have used Elemental Savant for example (only place I know of off the top of my head [I'm sure there are others] which has an energy type for all 4 elements) and it looks neater to include what the associations are (I think I've seen Acid for Water and Sonic for Earth before).
I never liked Air-Lightning. It really makes more sense for Air to be paired with Sonic.
Well here's Gorrog the Huge Air Elementalbattering ramAssassin. Let me know what you think.
The choice of race limited the impact of the relatively low level (8) class features, but some of them do become quite useful for either monetary reasons (free Keen is worth 14,000 GP on Gorrog's weapon), or as an option if enemies position themselves in a line.
Oh crapola. Thanks for that catch. That should just be "Descriptor" rather than energy descriptor.
And Gorrag certainly is interesting. And more or less what I expected. I am curious as to the "they" part. You have an asterisk but there's no footnote to it.
He could take benefit from empty space and his great speed to close with his primary target paying no heed to any in his way.
I removed Overcharged Blast because it could break things (getting enough damage to one-shot a balor 75% of the time... well technically 71.25% of the time due to nat 1s).
Apparently: The ability to slowly carve your face on the moon is acceptable. The ability to move to the moon and begin randomly shooting the world below is acceptable. The ability to destroy a town and the random low level people within it is acceptable.
The ability to auto-end CR 20 encounters reliably is not (pit fiend version only works on pit fiends and even then there are martial maneuvers with almost the same chance of success that do not require 4 feats to be invested and can be performed more than 1/encounter 3/day).
I forgot Empty Space when typing their combat stuff, and I originally was going to call them he because it is so much simpler to write, but decided that if I wanted to really present them as an elemental which very rarely have a concept of male/female (the archomentals are the notable exceptions) I would do better to use a gender neutral pronoun (and as an experiment in writing).
I will edit combat to note for Empty Space and add a note explaining the use of gender neutral pronouns.
pfffftt
EDIT: I made some changes to the Quasi-Fire Warrior's abilities. After reading more about the Ash Quasi-Elemental plane, Secondary cold damage seemed more appropriate.
EDIT 2: Updated the Fluff for Races and Adaptation and tweaked some numbers in some lower level abilities.
Added some Chromatics. Gotta wonder if they're balanced in their categories, and I do have to come up with more Lesser and Vivid chromatics.
Also the fluffy sections. That would probably be good sometime.
Damn, I just had a great idea for a base class, but I don't want to post it to he homebrew forum in case it can apply for the next contest...
I finally posted my class. I still need to fill in the fluff and make more formulas, but it will be done soon.
I'm almost done with the Gammon except that I need, like, a total of 10 chromatics per degree to get good variety, and am only about halfway there.
If one were to multiclass Jinnblood with Planar Sommelier, would that make them a Gin-Blood?

Wow. that was bad.
I regret NOTHING!
I for one enjoyed it, and would like to remind you all that genies are elemental spirits :smalltongue:
I see what you did there:smallbiggrin:
An Efreeti uses Cinnamon Whiskey.
A Djinn shakes vodka with cranberry and grapefruit juice.
A Dao makes their martini's with a splash of olive juice
A Marid mixes Vodka, Gin, Sprite, and Blue Curaçao and puts a bit of sprite on top
Combined with RL discussions about random theurge classes this is making me want to make a Gin Blood PrC :smalleek:
made a slight change to Elemental Resistance III. Water seemed to lag behind and needed a bit of a boost.
Oh yeah, just mentioning my offer/idea of making NPC assassins with these (finished) classes in case anybody missed it and is interested.
Also how many classes are actually finished for this one yet?
Gammon is finished. Adding more chromatics is just icing.
I'm done, but I keep looking back and attempting to make tweaks here and there. For example I changed Air Negative Elemental Support so that it's one round per level instead of 1 round per 2, Clarified something in Streaking Blade, And Added another bonus for Quasi-Perfection.
Kinda glad I found this. Inspiring me to start up a project I had kinda let fall to the wayside once more. Thus I shall try to see if I can get an entry done in time that will both be A) Worth a damn, and B) Still fit in theme with my long forgotten project.
My class is currently mechanically functional. Zaydos, would you mind making a Planar Mage NPC? I still need to make higher level formulas and fill in the last parts of the fluff, but the big part is pretty much done.
It's okay. It doesn't help that my class is a late entry.
Just exceeded the limit of characters for the formulas. I think I'll stop there, even though I'd have liked to have 4 8th-level ones. Given that I have homeworks to do for tomorrow, I will have just enough time to fill in the Other classes and Adaptation sections.
Edit: Okay, I just noticed that the contest only ends on October 16th, so I have more time than I thought.
