Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
I'll be doubled if necessary, and would like the bottom right-most non-prime square that isn't purple or green.
-
Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
I want to be squared and a contestant... :smalltongue:
But two squares are ok, too.
-
Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
There is only one Square left, and the other Contestant.
So Zar Peter is either a single Square and someone new takes the Contestant spot.
Penguinator or ThePhantom takes the other Square and Zar Peter becomes the Contestant.
Penguinator or ThePhantom chooses to be the Contestant and Zar Peter takes two Squares.
Someone new beats ThePhantom and Penguinator to the last Square and Zar Peter becomes a Contestant.
I think I covered all the options. :smallconfused:

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
I suppose I can be a square, if you don't mind me saying hateful things about stuff you love some more. Or, since I honestly had never heard of that show and the premise seemed fairly amusing (and more progressive than most of the drek on TV nowadays), maybe I can find another way to lie.

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
All is forgiven. And now to create the new board.
The first to choose a Square and a Category starts the game.

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
At 01:26:03 in the morning (am) of 26 April, 1986, a fire alarm was activated, announcing that there was a fire in Reactor Core 4, at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. According to the INSAG-7 report, the cause was: "The accident can be said to have flowed from a deficient safety culture, not only at the Chernobyl plant, but throughout the Soviet design, operating and regulatory organizations for nuclear power that existed at that time."Basically, while it may be considered as "operator error", most of the blame is on the Soviet Union itself, or not having better safety measures and controls in place to not only protect those who worked there, but to ensure they knew what to do in the case of such an emergency.
It took more than a day before the nearby city of Pripyat began to be evacuated, 14:00 (2 pm, for some) on 27 April, to be exact. Meaning that the 49,360(ish) citizens of this nuclear city walked around in the radiation, without being told exactly how bad it was, for just over 36 hours. When the evacuation began, they were told to bring only what they needed, that the removal was only temporary, so they did not need to bring all of their personal belongings, most of which is still there to this day. Fawkes II, how many days was it first estimated it'd take before the people of Pripyat could return home?
-
Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Oi, lessee... If'n dey called it a temp'ry moval, den I fink it' only be a coupla days. Lessay it were a 3 day holiday, eh wot?
-
Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Well, this crushed my 14th birthday, which was on 29th April 1987 and just on this day I think it was announced in Austria that something had happened in Russia. And they still denied that it was really bad. So I think Fawkes II is right, they really wanted to bring the people back after three days but then they couldn't because, well, reality.
So I agree, three days.

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
DING! DING! DING!
:smallfrown: Sorry to here that. When I was writing the question, I did wonder if it'd be a trigger for anyone.
But yes, it was originally supposed to only be a 3-day evacuation, but turned out to be permanent. If you wish to see the modern Pripyat, look up the video Marooned by Pink Floyd. It's.... haunting.Spoiler: Marooned- Pink Floyd

Oh, it didn't trigger much, I just wanted to sound as if I know of what I speak :smalltongue: And since I was a nerd kid it didn't affect me that much as I just wanted to stay inside and play on my C64 anyway

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
So, Queen's been gone more than a little while now. :smallfrown: I need a replacement, please.
-
Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
I can take over. I prefer being a square, but playing a round is fine.
-
Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Cool. Thanks. Pick a Square and an Alphabet.

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Zar looks pretty badass facing down my avatar.
Well, as the man said, "D is for lots of things."
Isn't that right, Penguin?
-
Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
I vote we disqualify Legato for cheating. He is clearly using intimidation tactics with his avatar size to scare Zar's tiny avatar away.

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Ah, it's only bad weather
It's not the size...

Duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck...
Doose!
...Right?
-
Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Okay... so Ducks. When I think of ducks, I think of Daffy and Donald Duck, as well as our own Duck999 :smallwink:. Let's focus on Daffy, as he's my favorite of the pair.
Daffy's first appearance was in the Porky Pig `toon 'Porky's Duck Hunt' on 17Apr1937, a whole year ahead of Bugs unofficial appearance on 30Apr1938 (boringly named Porky's Hare Hunt), and three years before Bugs official debut on 27Jul1940.
Originally, Daffy was a crazy, zany, loony duck that played tricks on Porky as the pig tried to blast him. But later, we find the duck in a secondary role, constantly being upstaged by Bugs and otherwise not funny at all in his jealousy. Which might just be my opinion....
Fast-forward to 1953, and we find Daffy as the ever-popular Duck Dodgers! With his side-kick Porky, they claim Planet X in the name of Earth, moments before Marvin the Martian claims it for Mars. The question is: What important element can only be found on Planet X?

When you think of ducks you don't think of me.:smallfrown:

*Pats on the head* Of course I think of you, my little ducklings. I just didn't think you wanted to be compared to Donald and Daffy.

Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Donald is my role model! Well, sometimes. No one is a better loser than Donald

I guess you're right. I wouldn't want to outshine two famous ducks.
-
Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Unfortunately, I'm more of a Scrooge McDuck fan. Donald doesn't hold a candle to his uncle.
Given the nature of the Looney Tunes, and the comical relationship between the ACME company and Wile E. Coyote, one can surmise that the ACME company was running out of elements to create traps. By the time of Duck Dodgers, ACME had it bad for one element in particular. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this was the element of surprise.
-
Re: Playground Squares XII: Where the fun never ends. EVER!
Huh. I'm not particularly familiar with Loony Tunes as a whole, though I've seen plenty of Animaniacs. I am going to make a guess though that the humor was at least vaguely similar in use of slapstick, satire and parody, and thus generally above something like a pun.
So I disagree.
