Attend Court, and let's level Intrigue skills.
Attend Court and Fighting skills, particularly swords. Come on we're going on an adventure lets get our physical skills up.
Hey, guys...Let's be honest...There's no point in voting for whether or not we'll go with Briony once we think about how dangerous it is, huh? I mean, it sounds to me like we're dead set on adventuring.
Yeah, we're definitely going on an adventure.
What, is the game going all "Are you sure you want to do this? Are you really, really sure? No, seriously, if you do this, you will die so hard that you might actually acquire stigmata in real life; are you absolutely positive that you will attempt this incredibly stupid action?"?
Ha! That just makes me want it more! Besides, you're playing the game, so you'll end up with stigmata, not me!
*shrug* I guess they just want us to be prepared to die. A lot.
Chapter 36: Week 29: Mood, Willful
or
Into the Forest We Must Go!
Spoiler

Anyway, this week's schools are Internal Affairs and Wield Magic, which will be pretty much maxing here.
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...apt%2036/2.png
Yyeaaahhh...What do you think? Geeze, Elodie. Even when you've done so much learning, you're still so stupid.
Also, this is Briony's family, so we maybe should be taking notes.
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...apt%2036/3.png
Aaaand max! Our first max! How lovely <3
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...apt%2036/4.png
So we can make illusions that do other spells? Spiffy. Also, yay, Max!
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...apt%2036/5.png
Spiffy; you can do things by yourself, Elodie! I'm astounded. Let's roll.
"Great!"
"I also found reports on all sorts of really nasty monsters down there."
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...apt%2036/6.png
Except for that Keythong thing. That was, like, 10 weeks or less ago.
"The palace was abandoned hundreds of years ago. The reports never stopped."
Like we were just saying. Good girl, Elodie!
"I can't find anyone who's gone into the Old Forest and come back."
Well, that'll just make us the first, right? Right!....Right?
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...apt%2036/7.png
That's the spirit, Briony! The stupid, stupid spirit.
"Look, I know it's dangerous. I'm not stupid. But you and I are educated noblewomen, not peasants."
No, honey. You're teenagers. Dumb teenagers.
"I'm good with a sword and a bow. And you -- don't you have magic powers now that you're Queen?"
...Wha...What would happen if we didn't? Well, OK. We'd definately fail.
"Well, yes."
Anyway, she's proposing to be Fighter to our Sorceror, so that's cool.
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...apt%2036/8.png
No they won't! I mean, your mom might be...But Our mom's dead, and our dad would probably just go "As you wish" when he really means he loves us. *again*.
Anyway, I guess we're up for teen rebellious cries for attention.
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...apt%2036/9.png
Oh, come on! Live a little!
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...pt%2036/10.png
Alright, guys, we need to think carefully about this one and...
AH-BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I'm sorry.
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...pt%2036/11.png
Pity we don't know enough about riding.
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...pt%2036/12.png
We got a new background! How exciting!
This is, I think, the only sequence with this background.
There is no guard around the borders of the Old Forest. There isn't any need for one. Caloris has soaked in lore until the stain is permanent; even an illiterate fisher-child knows better.
But you are young and innocent, brave and strong. True heroes.
Really? I thought we were rebellious teenagers desperately crying out for someone to love us.
Or, well, Briony is. We're just bored.
But your version is good, too, game.
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...pt%2036/13.png
You've been here for 3 text-boxes. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
"It's kind of dark, but that's just because there's so much moss on the trees."
Uhhh...what? I guess she means something like Spanish moss?
"It's pretty. It's like lace curtains. And it's quiet. You could build a secret hideaway here."
Yeah, ok. Spanish moss. coolbeans.
Also, except for the monsters. The horrible monsters.
"And it's not too dark when the will-o-wisps are out. Little sparkly lights."
Correction, Lodie. Little sparkly lights that are trying to lure you from a safe path and towards getting lost until you die.
"Don't you think, Briony?"
You know, I suppose I shouldn't be hard on her here. I think she's trying to reassure herself, but is probably terrified.
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...pt%2036/14.png
Check #1: Successs!
There is magic in the air. Nearby...and strong.
You turn to look at your companion -
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...pt%2036/15.png
Ooooohhhh Snap.
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...pt%2036/16.png
Awww yeah, we're going to attempting heroism.
Magic burns at your fingertips, but it's hard to find any spot to blast that won't harm Briony more than the monster.
Oh noes!
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...pt%2036/17.png
This is called "Suddenly, Long Live the Queen demands something totally unexpected from you."
This is also called "Welp, we're boned."
There's something wrong. SOmething is happening that shouldn't be. But you can't make sense of it. You can't think...You can't fight...You can't win.
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...pt%2036/18.png
Poor Lodie. Her tentacle-filled death is pretty adorable, though. And a checklist item!
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/z...pt%2036/19.png
Aaaand...Bad end. I've seen an LP where the game ends here.
But this isn't that LP. This is my LP -- Elodie's star will rise again!
The question is...How?
Ok, so here are some simple solutions to our current dillemna.
Choose Not to Go To the Party and let Briony sneak off on her own. We can go back and ignore Lore entirely, but you'd have to vote for a new schedule...But we'll cross that bridge if this is how it goes.
Go to the Party, Don't Train Lore We'll never even get the choice to help, and we'll need to pick a new schedule, of course.
Something Else From Choosing to Help Her -- you say what., again, letting her deal with her own stuff.
Something Else From After We Agreed to Help, But Before We Went -- You Say What, Of the Choices From This Chapter Some of these will be more 'Briony handles her own stuff,' some of these will be legit alternate solutions. I leave you to tell the difference.
Screw That, We're Going To Finish This Adventure We go back into our schedule to try and Get Herbs high enough (I think pretty high, but I don't know -- someone else want to help out there?) and, for the sake of not having to do with twice, either Horses or Running high enough.
We Need To Go Deeper We go way back into our schedule and do stuff differently that may not directly pertain to this problem, but have been bugging you.
Also, Eldariel, how'd you like me to send you the log so you can work strange sorcery on it for these people? I figure we can hold of picking a new schedule for when we see that a vote requiring one wins.
We're going to finish this adventure.
Since when did you need to know about herbs to blast them with magic? :smallconfused:
We are Elodie, foolish naive TeenMage Queen of Nova! How can we let a mere Tentacle Monster stop us? :smalltongue:
We must return and prevail over the beastie with the power ofsave scummingRunning and Herbs!! (And probably cyphering as well)
Since you stopped trying to blast them with magic and tried to pry the tentacles off instead?
Wow, you'd think they would have given you an option to use another skill or two, like swords or something. :smallconfused:
Well this sucks... :smallsigh:
*ponders what best plan would be at this point*
Well lets see if one day of double herb training will be enough to finish the adventure.
I think that check requires 70+ skill in herbs, but I'm not sure. Just an estimate.
Yeah, it's at least 70, but I'd need to narrow it down more exactly. And we can, technically, go back as far as Week 1, though we probably don't *need* to.
I am 100% in favor of going back and finding a way to beat up those tentacles.
Perhaps Asking About Her Parents instead of just stomping on off on the adventure would be a good idea? Maybe that will give us another set of options, or create different circumstances that will be easier for us to deal with?
Ok, I've checked: In order to get the two characters out of the forest alive, you need...
Something in the realm of 70 Herbs, 70 Running (could be lower, but 40 will not cut it), and either our horses at a high point (70 definately does it, sensing a theme?) or our dancing where it is, as well as our lore where it is (to trigger the quest).
This is a pretty big skill investment, basically. If you're not up for that, there are other resolutions that are, while not so daring, at least not bad for anyone involved.
Heh, not quite. But it is a fairly awesome way of dealing with tentacle monsters, one I'll remember when I inevitably run into Cthulhu.
Oh and Deme, mail me the log and I'll get it back to you. Sent you address and everything as a PM.
EDIT: Okay, received. I'll get back to you ASAP.
Screw That, We're Going To Finish This Adventure. Let's get that Herbs skill up.
Finish The Adventure
@Deme: Alright, I've sent the barebones log back to you. Let's get this show underway.
@People: I must warn you that this forest trip is quite possibly the hardest path you can take in this game so if you want to survive through it, well, get ready to go way back and plan everything around it :smallwink:
