I think I could honestly do that.
Is it odd that I really think I could do that? And then post it.
From most people, yes that would be odd. From you? Par for the course really.

Also hopefully Little Sister won't have the same problem with English Literature I had. They got my grade wrong, despite the fact it was obviously not the one they'd said (for serious, which exam is easy enough that dropping 4% of marks drops you the top grade?). Sometimes I wonder if we shouldn't be grading the exam boards.
But it's easy to grade exam boards. Straight Es.
But Little Sister is only in Y9, the school made all Y9s take HUmanities, Statistics, half the entire Triple Science exams, ummm, ICT - I think.
I think she's taking about four or five GCSEs.
She'll get them when they post out results in . . . a week?

Oh wow. Despite being what's known in the biz as "quite clever", I really disapprove of that sort of thing.

No no no. This is GCSE level, there are lower grades.

I'm considering trying to draw something for it in Inkscape.

All Gs. The report card will say "G (g)" because apparently we're not smart enough to know capital letters are sometimes the same as small letters.

Hey, if you get a G(g), maybe you don't know that they're the same.
In Canadanadanada, we only go down to F's.

They've just started building the Viking Village down at the promenade about two minutes from my place today.
It's for the annual Viking festival that lasts from the last weekend in August until the first weekend of September.
I'll try to actually make it into the village this time, something I haven't done before. I'll try to get a few pics of the vikings doing viking stuff.

Heh. Here in Sweden, in the upper elementary and the gymnasium, G stands for "Godkänd", which means that you've passed. VG (Väl Godkänd") is the next grade in line, and is slightly better. MVG ("Mycket Väl Godkänd") is the best grade you can get, but it isn't really that hard if you try. An IG ("Icke Godkänd") means that you didn't pass.

Okay then, but how about the people who get A* (a*)? I mean, HALF OF THE CHARACTERS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME.

The downside is that Miss Moriarty now goes to Cambridge. :smallfrown:
She probably did in canon anyway, but still.

It's on a comedy sketch show, and it was a little amusing at first in that horribly dark fashion.
And then it went silent and :smallfrown: tears come to your eyes :smallfrown:.
Working on my Zombie Holmes story. Starting with Final Problem and ending with Empty House.
Professor James Moriarty is now a mere Miss Jane Moriarty, ex-alumni of Girton College, Cambridge.
I've even figured out her backstory. Frustrated over the refusal of the academic world to accept her papers, such as Dynamics of [fill this in later] she is forced into becoming a simple school teacher, and runs a crime ring on the side through a male front - Colonel Moran.
I know the paper is actually DYnamics of Asteroids, but that 'doesn't work' given gender politics and she would have been more likely to study the 'softer' academia.

I noticed that. I never liked the ending of Blackadder Goes Forth, either, even though Blackadder is one of my favourite shows of all time. It just didn't feel like a Blackadder episode. I know why they did it and why they had to do it, but still...
Talking of Blackadder, I was bored today and a certain line from an episode of Blackadder the Third inspired me to improvise this video. It's fairly easy to spot.

Aw MAN.
My internet cut out just before the end of that Old Folk Holmes sketch. Sounds like it was good. Better check if it's still on iPlayer.

On this side of the pond Hugh Laurie's famous for much more than House. Fry and Laurie, Jeeves and Wooster, Blackadder, the list goes on...

ION: I saw an owl yesterday. I was lying in my bed, and I saw something move in the ray of light coming from my window. I turned around, and there was some bird perched on the fire escape, looking around and being cool. I slowly got up and pressed my nose on the window, trying not to scare it. It was some kind of barn owl, and I watched him for about a minute. He either didn't notice or didn't care that I was watching him, so I turned on the light to get a better look. In the light I got a much better look, and could see his coloration (tan with brown wings). His big yellow eyes stared at me, and I stared back. I watched his pupils enlarge as he adjusted to the light. Not wanting to disturb him further (so that maybe he would come back), I turned off the light and got into bed. After a couple of minutes I felt a tiny tremor, and looked back to see he had taken off.

I have a page of it done, but that's pretty much a minor rewriting of Final Problem as it is (good thing it's public domain now ), the bigger changes are going to happen later on.
The main issue with Final Problem is that it is written two years after the fact by Watson, so he doesn't know the full truth.
What I'm going to have to do is write out a fairly straight Final, and then when I get to Empty we have the Bigger Reveal.
Empty will be where I have to approach how the two 'survived', the issues with Miss Moriarty and Mr. Holmes now being highly reluctant allies - hence their iourney to Tibet and India - all the while dealing with issues stemming from zombification and their unwanted and growing attraction.
Plus how they're going to deal with Moran. By necessity it'll be slightly different than in the original, and almost certainly bloodier; perhaps ending in Bedlam.
I suppose I could post the one page preview, but it's really a pastiche of Holmsian style and nothing unique besides some changes in sentences.
The research behind Miss Moriarty has been remarkably interesting and fulfilling though. I can't wait to get to it. The downside being she may become a sympathetic character too easily, I don't want that. Not yet.

I'll have to read the original so I know what you're talking about.
ION: Finished watching Avatar: The Last Airbender. Back to Classic Doctor Who!
Not right now though. 2am, not the best time to start a 6 episode serial, also I've done very little the past couple of days other than watch A:TLA. I should consider doing something vaguely productive.

Exactly! My pair I just made IS too long really, but if I wear a belt I can manage it. My dad came in while I was making the belt to go with (because all the belts I have are designed for wearing around the waist, not the hips - these are quite low-rise jeans) and we had the following conversation:
Him: "...So why are you doing this?"
Me: *explains, ending with* "Basically just for the heck of it."
Him: "You're gonna hate this, but . . . that sounds exactly like the kind of thing I did at your age."
Me: "Dad, go look in the mirror. You're a 42-year-old white man with dreadlocks. I don't think you ever STOPPED doing it."

Damn you're a good seamstress ([insert obligatory snigger and :smallamused: from anyway who's read the Discworld series]), they look luvverly.
Nice contrast between the pale pink and the magenta. Very striking.

See, this is what little brothers and Cycoris are for, getting roped/bribed into taking photos of you. Hmm, nice so far, but no real sense of the vibe...
How do you make a belt that goes round hips like yours anyway? :smallconfused:
