After only a few minutes of running, Dana and Aiden emerge from the forest. Wow, that was quick. Given how long they were on that path, it should have taken much longer to escape!
The Streets of Skyside
A crew of workers begins putting up street signs on every junction. The nice, easy to read kind that have the prismatic stuff in them to make them visible at night. How convenient!

Karen shakes her head. "I might not be what you are looking for then. I was not pulled here. I moved up here when Skyside flew in. Here they do not care about paying for a license to get a job." :smallwink:

SLAVE- Timeline 2
The shopkeep is a middle-aged woman with green eyes and greying black hair. She's wearing a white dress. "Depends on the humans and elves. They're all priced independently. The harpy's [quite expensive]. It's hard to catch them, let alone such an attractive specimen."
Babette chooses a thirteen-year-old human with a fair amount of puppy fat, black hair and blue eyes, and a fifteen-year-old half-elf with green eyes, pale skin and a shaved head.
The Heights
It'll be quite a while before Asinoe drops the handkerchief, and asks if she can correct Zoe's grip and show- not demonstrate on her, but show- her how to do it properly. If asked for a reason, she replies that it's professional pride. Or at least skilled amateur pride.

I personally prefer we get elves of some sort.

Elereshur nods and, after a moment's consideration, says to the owner, "Alright. I'll take these two," She gestures to the girls Babette picked out, "And these," She gestures to half-a-dozen girls, 4 elves and 2 humans, all around age 16.

Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
SLAVE
The woman lists eight different prices for the girls. The harpy remains the most expensive, despite also being the oldest. The elves are next, then the half-elf, but the thirteen-year-old is only just cheaper. The other four humans have prices that fluctuate a fair bit.
Glasia might also spot a fourteen-equivalent drow with night-black skin, silver eyes and gold-white hair wearing white underwear. She's the only drow present at the moment.

Glasia does!
She walks over to her kneeling down.

Elereshur pays for everything except the Harpy and says, "The harpy's a little too expensive." She then notices the drow Glasia is speaking to and asks, "Oh, how much for that one?"

I did not attempt to patronize, miss. What is this family you speak of?
Glasia asks, her voice rather amicable and kind.

"No? As long as she's okay with doing illegal things."
As the group travels along the road to her lab, Ariel grins and says, "Illegal is always more fun...And wonderflonium's a good power-source. I'm in."
When the group arrives at Ariel's lab, she smirks and says, "Wait here for a moment. Oh, and don't touch anything if you value your current shape. I built a genetic recombobulation beam a while back, and nowadays most of my income comes from rich people that don't want to deal with Elexxion." If they have decent enough hearing, they'll hear the sounds of clanking metal, as Ariel is going old projects, looking for something to show off. After a while, there's a very loud CRASH! sounds, and a very annoyed Ariel can be heard shouting "OW, GODSDAMMIT!" followed by something along the lines of, "Oh...I forgot I had this."

SLAVE- Timeline 2
"The Do'Blizani. I'm the daughter of the Matron Mother." They are an important house- but from a minor city, meaning their sphere of influence is very limited and nearly non-existent outside the city.
"She's [not as expensive as the harpy, but more so than the elves]. Is she instead, or as well?" The shopkeeper isn't very good.
SLAVE- Timeline 1
"Thank you, but no. I'm afraid that we don't have the space to have a full perimeter, and too many security measures could scare off our customers. We don't keep many records of who buys what, because slavery is not very popular." The most extensive one.
The shops are terraced together, open straight onto the roads and have only a narrow alley at the back.

Elereshur smiles at the shopkeeper and says, "She'll be as well if we take her. It depends on whether or not my companion wants her." She is now skippable until Glasia and the slave are done interacting.

Glasia replies.
Would you prefer to be out of this cage with me as an owner, or to stay here?

Lower Cloudtop -> Tinkertown
"You got anything good?" One of the suited thugs asks. They seem to be smart enough to not touch anything, as told. "A laser is one thing, but if you have something really freaky, it'll encourage us to deal with you, right?"

Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
SLAVE- Timeline 2
The elves and humans that Elereshur has bought are yours, so you can describe them if you want.
"Out of the cage. Anything to get out of it." She looks impressed by the name, but Glasia might be able to tell she's faking it- she hasn't heard of the House. Besides, she can always try to escape later.

Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
[Ariel's Lab]
Ariel comes out of the back room carrying a chrome ray-gun, about the size of an M-16. She grins and says, "This is the Mark Three Freeze Ray. Not an Ice Beam, those I've got a few of those, as well. This projects a ray that destabilizes the Tachyons around a target, creating a stasis bubble." She grins and continues, "Weird enough for ya?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
Ariel's Lab
"Ooh, that is cool..."
"Hey," The other one says, eyes lighting up. "Could you run that in reverse? Like, make someone go faster than the rest of time?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
[Ariel's Lab]
Ariel grins and says, "Maybe. I haven't played with this thing in a long time. But now is not the time for experimentation. Let's go meet your boss." On the way out, she picks up another ray, this one about the size of a handgun. If question about it, she says, "I figured your boss would want to see a weapon as well. Nasty little piece of work, this, it delivers an electrical shock to the brain-stem, paralyzing some of the more vital functions."
-
Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
Ariel's Lab
"Wait, how do we know that it works?" One says, frowning. "How do we know she's not faking it? How do we know it works?"
"Good question. Hey, zap Mike."
"Yeah-wait, what?"

Ariel grins manically, and, out of deference to the fact that they're potential employers, pulls out the freeze ray and tries to zap him! If she hits, he'll be frozen for a few minutes.
-
Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
Ariel's Lab
The not-frozen guy laughs as 'Mike' is frozen in time. "Ha Ha Ha! Alright, let me call her." He gets out a phone and dials. "Hey, Chief, it's me. Found someone. Seems legit; Mike is frozen in time. Sure." He hands the phone to Ariel.
-
Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
[Ariel's Lab]
Ariel, still grinning, takes the phone, and says, "Hellooo?" in a rather more bubbly tone of voice that usual...She's always giddy when old inventions still work as intended.
-
Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
Ariel's Lab
The voice over the phone is female, and obviously quite eager about this. "So... you're willing to make weapons for a group of of violent crazy people, huh? I can respect that. I have some wonderflonium that's just begging to be put to use; and a bunch of people eager to use it, but there's one more big question: Do you think you could make cybernetics? I'm not going to ask for fancy cybernetics, and I'd be willing to let you into our blueprints if you're looking good. But if cybernetics are a deal-breaker, you're not going to have as strong of a position, right?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
Ariel's Lab
Ariel smiles at the excitement, but when asked about cybernetics, she frowns and says, "Hmm...Never tried, really. I know a decent bit about human anatomy for designing some of the nastier rays, so if you give me a few expendables to test some designs on, I'm sure I can figure something out."
-
Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
Ariel's Lab
"Sounds good. Now, let's set up a time and place for some demonstration and maybe dealing, hmm? I would normally let you choose the place, but Skyside is something of an expensive commute. You have somewhere on the ground you prefer, or do you want me to choose?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
[Ariel's Lab]
Ariel's happy grin widens and she replies, "Surprise me." Mike should also be thawing about right about now.
-
Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
Ariel's Lab
"Okay. Out of inside a ways is an old scrapyard. It's big, it's out of the way, and there's plenty of stuff to test some of your toys on. Sound good?"
((I'm assuming that we can handwave the when.))
-
Re: [Nexus] Skyside: Slave 2 Progress
Ariel's Lab
Ariel nods and says, "See ya there!" She then hands the phone back to the Henchman.

I want her for myself, not to be turned.
She whispers to Adele.
