I actually like it. It reads more like she's trying to make a joke, but considering she's in Hell, failing spectacularly. The specific understatement of "Very unpleasant" is what draws the mind's eye.
I dunno, my two cents of liking that bit of corny dialogue.

Seriously, even if you donīt explain what the hell īSoul Eatersī are, we already get it. I mean, theyīre SOUL EATERS. And given itīs hell it is pretty easy to figure out what will happen if they EAT a SOUL.
Also is it me or does having infernomancer powers, while your Lord is dead, make absolutely no sense? Where do they get their powers from?

Exactly.
Particularly since Karnak made sure that nobody - aside from TIM - was drawing powers from Hell.
This is doubly nonsensical as Infernomancers shouldn't be able to keep their powers after going to Hell. I mean, why should their Hell Lord keep paying pawns that are of absolutely no use to him? :smallconfused:

Okay.
So.
Someone's gotta say this.
Infernomancy=Tentacles.
And panel six. Words. They escape me.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXVII: God Has Nothing to do With This
Heyall,
Are they somehow drawing power from Karnak, the guy who absorbed their Lords' powers? And if so, is it just an oversight on his part, or is he letting them do it for his own purposes?
Or maybe Mookie just doesn't care.
Edit:
Since Karnak took their Lords' powers, does that mean they are his Infernomancers now?
-
Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXVII: God Has Nothing to do With This
I assume they just have a bit of stored power left in their souls or whatever and once that's up they're powerless.
The donation wallpapers are interesting. Siggy and Karnak are clearly in an intimate relationship (their heart faces are inseparatable and make each other) but they're going through a tough period right now. The mongrelfolk heart only reinforces this.

Heyall,
To this day, I'm still not sure how Poison = Tentacles. It would make more sense for Bulgak to have stingers. Yeah, jellyfish have poisonous tentacles, but those don't look like jellyfish tentacles to me.
And if anyone feels the need to point out the differences between venom and poison -- don't.

Well, that and he's getting some now, which Mookie has made us PAINFULLY aware. (Seriously, when your sex scenes are ten times more disturbing than your Lovecraftian tentacle beings, seek help.)

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXVII: God Has Nothing to do With This
Oh, come on. Look at the size of those things. There's no way Loxo or Bulgak could fit into one of their (very unpleasant) digestive tracts.
I recently decided to make an effort to like Loxo (mainly to see if it could be done) so, um... maybe Bulgak didn't know what Soul Hunters were and she thought he'd appreciate the information?

Clearly she's a know it all goodie two shes that tend to quote their textbooks when under stress.
So, are these the first honest to Mookie demons (as opposed to transformed former humans) we meet in the comics?

By this logic the Great Dominus is immune to all types of magic ever including others who scry on him.
I think Mookie just went with the D&D schools of magic. Enchantment there specifically refers to mind-control and mind-alteration.

The exposition only says "belongings", not "belongings that the target is currently wearing". There are command runes on their bags as well, for example. So I've got no problems with this. Presumably, they would have had to be dispelled one by one, and it would have taken too much time.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXVII: God Has Nothing to do With This
There's not a whole lot of ecological need for something in Hell that eats souls. Unless they're extensions of the Elemecca and are reclaiming their souls to be sent back for elemental processing. But I doubt that Mookie thought of that, and instead was just looking for something nasty and slobbery to throw at them while they scheme to disrupt the flow of what minimal plot there is for this filler.
Also, I think the dynamic duo's infernomancy is probably just a case of When In Rome, Do As The Horrible Slobbering Monstrocities Do. They know how it works from an intellectual perspective, they're surrounded by demonic power, so it's not that much of a logical leap.

Oh wow, that's . . . . that's just bad, even for Mookie. I swear he's just thinking "Damnit, I STILL haven't gotten rid of all of my fans. What else do I need to do?!"
Also, wouldn't finding out how much of your power remains when you reach hell be, like . . . the first thing that you do? Because, you know, you're in hell, and everything wants to kill you?
But hey. There was some plot in this comic, so I guess I'll take it.

Apparently nothing's tried to kill them yet. All the monsters have been, up until these things, too busy with their demonic garbage trucks and "splatterfest". I think Loxo and Bulgak severely overestimate their worth/threat level in the larger scheme of things :smallwink:

Karnak makes some note years and years ago about how for some reason he can't revoke TIM's powers, even if he wanted to. Maybe part of being an infernomancer is the demon lord who gave you your powers has to revoke them upon entry to Hell, precisely so you can't defend yourself against the various crummy elements of Hell ("Hellements") Since their demon lords are dead, and Karnak effectively obliterated any kind of record system in the process, maybe they still have their powers because nobody thought to take it from them.
And Karnak can't notice it because it's not his powers, per se, that they're draining on, the way Snuggly was exploiting the Karnak infernomancy link through TIM.
OR this is just something that Mookie forgot.
Also - why did the cloak come off? The tentacles pushed out of his back. That's why.
Also - "very unpleasant digestive tract." More evidence that Hell isn't such a bad place to be! People there consider certain fates more horrible than Hell can provide 'em.

Except that it kind of is his power they might be draining. He absorbed the powers of their demon lords when he killed them. Think of Karnak as an expy of Cyric from the Forgotten Realms, who went on a god-killing spree before settling for ruling only the domains of Murder, Lies, and Strife.
It's probably just what was mentioned earlier: they still have some residual demonic power in their souls. Maybe that's why Bulgak is using tentacles: they're the simplest and most efficient manifestation of infernal power possible.
