Yeah, my server is sitting behind me. It has lots of messy cables, including one going across the room into the basement via the stairs.
I may be able to hang it from the basement ceiling near where one of the cords is...

Optimally, I'd like to put it in the basement since it's a Dell with an Intel processor so it gets hot. There's a phone jack down there, but I need internet for it to be an actual server. Suggestions other than a reeeeeeeeeally long cord?

Everyone is telling you about target priority (Medics, heavies, if they are good then snipers, etc etc). Allow me to make a comment on that, from a spy and ex-sniper regular.
It's all incredibly situational. Yes, even killing the medic. By and large, that IS what you want. HOWEVER, sometimes it either can't be done, or it's not the best idea. Take KOTH_Sawmill. Heavy, medic, and 2 soldiers are rushing the point from their side. I happen to be behind 'em. The medic is good enough to keep looking around, as are the soldiers. However, right when medic is about to go attack me, my team shows up, and he has to focus on keeping his guys alive. I COULD take the medic out, but it's best to save that for my team, or for pistol. It's much wiser to kill the heavy and soldiers if possible, as they are the ones killing my teammates. In the end, it's more important for YOU to have living teammates than for them to have a dead medic; even the best medic is pretty weak if it's favorite targets are dead.
When One Tasty sammich has medics on him, I just kill him. His medics are usually easy pickings afterward. If I killed the medics first, he'd either here it and turn around (and I'd have to deadring, since I've tested this before), or I'd probably have to deal with other teammates. A heavy can easily alert teammates when you're fake, particularly if he has a mic. Medics can't follow too much; it's too east for you to get range and pistol 'em; a heavy doesn't get that. You practically HAVE to backstab him, unless you catch him by surprise with some damage on him.
This is true. I often go for heavies over medics, because I CAN make the shot, easily, and wiping them out lets my team push. Particularly when the medics aren't that good, and can't really use uber.

Rewire! Always FUN. Like Dwarf Fortress. Fun. But it's quite hard to make suggestions when I have no idea what your house looks like. You get to figure it out yourself, sorry. Wish I could help though.

I realized that right after I posted. Thanks, though. I'll figure something out. Probably something along the lines of a 100ft. Ethernet cable or something.

Finishing 2 co-op games in Alien Swarm earns you the Hat Trick achievement, which comes with a parasite hat for TF2.

Is the Alien from Alien!
-
Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
What? No, it's a parasite from Alien Swarm.
The alien from Alien is called a Xenomorph, and considering how much alien blood tends to be on the screen in this game we should count ourselves lucky these ain't Xenomorphs.

Doesn't mean Valve didn't base their face-hugger of the face-hugger from alien. Cause it looks like they did.
-
Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
I think perhaps they based it on the Headcrab, which they in turn based off the Facehugger.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Here's my theory:
This is essentially the world of Half Life brought a few years into the future. The Combine have been defeated, and from the ashes of Earth, come the IAF who have begun to colonise the far fringes of the galaxy after a long and hard battle against the Combine. Thanks to their creation of powered armour, similar to the HEV suit used by the legendary Dr Freeman, they have created a formidable military force and are solidifying their grasp on their new found land.
In a moment of short-sighted haste, the Combine created a new race of aliens to spite the human race. These aliens overwhelmed the Combine and began their march against humanity. Humans are now fighting a dangerous war against the Combine remnants and the Swarm.
-
Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Eh, I still think it's that humanity, Earth having been razed by the Combine and left with only GLaDOS and Chell, fled to the only inhabitable (border)world they knew of: Xen. Over time humanity wiped out all of the native life (well, technically nothing's native to Xen, but I digress.)
At least they thought they did. Turns out that while Humans were fixing up Xen to be like Earth, the Xenians were evolving to be more powerful than ever before. Headcrabs became Parasites, Gonarchs became Swarm Boomers, Antlions became the Swarm themselves. Now it's up to four-eight marines, equipped with the best weapons our species has to offer, to kill the Xenian scum and save the borderworld.

I have this crazy theory:
It's a new IP and has nothing to do with Half-Life.
Crazy, isn't it?

Madness. Just take your craziness and move along, sir, while we try and find the connection.

A new Internet Protocol? Italian Parmesan? Internal Pressure? Irate Penguin?
I give up.

Exactly. If TF2 has taught us anything it's that there are numerous connections to be made in Valve games with little apparent reason.

Intellectual property, I suspect.

It all depends on how you see it. I've died to Swarm Boomers more often than to Gonarchs.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Hey, I know I'm in the L4d2 group, but is there a general Gitp group? my steam id is [gitp]masterofweirdness (if that doesnt work try isaacj), if there is one to invite me to.
Right now all I have is L4D2 and Alien Swarm, but one of these days I'll probably get TF2.

There's a collection of groups tied to the GitP and ChHa name. I think the front page of this thread or the general [Steam] thread has all of them.

Check my groups, I have you friended. I think I'm in most of the GitP groups. The primary group I have set is the current main GitP/ChHa group.

The game is actually a devious method of making people do more tricks to get hats. :smallamused:

Moreover, with the new Misc2 item slots which will most certainly contain other items of clothing, the game is short of a catwalk to make it more about fashion than actual shooting.

cp_catwalk coming right up...
