Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
Entrance
It may take a minute or two, but Kirin will eventually enter the entry hall and hear the knocking. She will step over to the door, straighten her blue maid outfit (I don't know where she got the thing) and open the door.
"Hello?"
She doesn't know if there's any particular way Harnel wants people greeted, so she just goes with the default. She examines the person at the door, staying in the doorway to keep whoever it is from just rushing inside.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Entrance]
Cessie might have mentioned the importance of being polite. She's her servant as well after all.
However the being standing outside is in fact the skeleton of a man dressed in a black robe, hanging very loosely upon his bones. The bones seem to be held together by a blue glow which lit up every part of the skeleton including the eyes which shines with an eerie cold light.
The mouth, locked in a eternal grin opens as it speaks. "Excuse me servant, is Harnel at home? I need to speak with him."
When this happens, Harnel is still a demon.

Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
Entrance
Kirin's mouth opens, she almost (ALMOST!) says something stupid, she closes her mouth, and takes a second to regain her composure.
Crud crud what was the proper door answering etiquette?
"Please step inside."
Kirin will step aside and let it in. Really really hope this isn't a mistake...
"I will alert" Umm "the master." yeah, that works "Might I say who is here?"
Yes that totally sounded professional and not jumpy or nervous at all.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
Entrance
The skeleton looks at her curiously (though since he lacks an expression it might be hard to see).
"Master is it now?" He says skeptically. "I guess you haven't been informed. I'm Arik Mithar, your 'mistress' brother." He says as he steps inside, not giving the catgirl a second look, instead focusing his gaze on the hall around him.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
Entrance
"Okay. I will give word that you have arrived."
Kirin will then rush off to find Cessie, maybe a bit faster than is strictly needed.
She will give each floor a quick look, and presumably find Cessie in the Library. She will run over to her and take a minute to catch her breath.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
Entrance
"Good, I can't wait to see him." Arik says unconvincingly.
Kirin won't find Cessie in the library. How odd.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
Rushing around in a panic
She's not here?
She's not here.
oh snap
Kirin will rush to the guest room, and knock on the door.
"Harnel? A skeleton claiming to be someone named Arik Mithar is here, and he wants to see you. There's some obvious complications with this, and I don't know what to do."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Panic at the guest Room]
Harnel brow furrows as he looks out towards Kirin through the force field, "that would be Cessie's brother then. If he wants to see someone, Cessie is at the library in the city. If he's here for me though, I guess you can send him up. Don't worry; he's family, so he won't do anything untoward."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
Panic at the guest Room
"Yeah, he specifically asked for you... I'll bring him up."
Kirin will walk down to where the visitor is waiting, and walk over to him
"If you will follow me, Harnel will see you now."
She will lead him to the guest room, and open the door for him.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
Panic at the guest Room
"Most excellent." Arik replies with a polite nod before following Kirin along to the guest room
As he enters he looks closely at the demonic half-dragon. "Greetings Harnel, I trust the force cage is strong enough to hold you?" He asks with a grin (of course, seeing he can't do much else...)
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[The Guest Room]
"I haven't exactly tested the limits of it. I hope I don't find out, for various reasons. It should be, though." Harnel will stand up and move towards the force field at the door, pressing his hand lightly against it. No force is put into it, so he isn't straining it with his magic resistance, but it should change color briefly before going back to normal, "Kirin said you asked for me. Is there a reason you came to see me, Arik, or is it genuine concern?"
Harnel is giving him the benefit of the doubt, here. Arik is a lich, yes, but he's still Cessie's brother. May as well treat him like family and assume he's actually here because he's concerned. Still, it'd be nice if he looked human right now >.>
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[The Guest Room]
He could ask him to look like a human. :smalltongue:
"Now, now, I'm actually your brother-in-law now and I wasn't even allowed to come your wedding. Wouldn't you say it was time to catch up now that you can't do much else? We hardly even know each other." Arik replies. "Besides, Ces was afraid you would get lonely so I decided to keep you company." A chair of arm forms outside the room which he gently sits down in.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Harnel nods. Arik had a point. He goes over to the bed and drags it over towards the door, so he has something comfortable to sit of, "I appreciate it. Could... I just get you to look a bit more human? I've had a lot of problems with the undead, including a lich who has tried to eat my soul on occassion. I'd appreciate it if you gave me that little courtesy."
"Is there anything in particular you want to know, though?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
Guest Room
Kirin looks between the two, and turns and leaves. This is so weird...
Whatever, she has things to do and they can shout if they want her.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"Oh, just a moment." The lich replies as his skeletal body is replaced by a frail-looking man in his early thirties.
It's easy to see he's Cessie's brother, sharing her raven hair and a hint of her facial features.
"But really, can't we just talk Harnel? That's what I came here for after all. To get to know you now that I have the chance." He reaches into a pouch and produces a bottle of... beer?
The bottle is too large for the small pouch so chances are it's magical. "Want something to drink?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Harnel nods, "Sure, if you've got glasses in there too." Harnel isn't particularly disturbed by this, honestly. He's seen magic bags like that before, and even owned one for a while. "Maybe it'll help me loosen up a bit."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"Yes, I figured you might be interested." Arik replies with a smile and throws Harnel the beer, as the field flickers for a moment.
"Sadly I won't be able to share your drink due my condition, but I'll drink it mentally." He leans back in his chair. "So, the first time I heard you described was when my sister claimed she bad been smitten by a handsome prince. I already knew there was something special about you though, just the way she talked about you."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Harnel shrugs, "I still don't really know what she sees in me, but I'm sure as hell not complaining about it. The first time she told me about you, on the other hand, I was... a bit incredulous that you were undead. It's something hated where I'm from." He takes a drink of the booze.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"I'm used to it." Arik replies with a wave of his hand. "It's the same way in Hestopia, people are, if I may argue, afraid of what they don't understand, for what looks abnormal. If liches had looked like ordinary people, no one would have even complained. Or so I believe. Just because are 'undead' doesn't mean we in unhuman." He looks up at Harnel. "It's the same way for you isn't it? You are what people back in your home perceive as 'ugly' and thus they are afraid of you and the power you have. Not so dissimilar to the condition I found myself in."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"Maybe that's how it seems to you, but I have, quite frankly, seen undead do things no normal man would even dream of in his worst nightmares. The fear in my world is justified; I can tell you that," he drinks more, "I even had a lich continually antagonize my group. Carden Alsk, Terror of the Waste, Bringer of Locusts, Destroyer of Cities. He had a tendency to go on a short rampage whenever he didn't get his way, so we had to be particularly careful dealing with him," Harnel looks somber. It's in the past, but there's a lot of people he wasn't able to protect.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Arik shrugs, "Where I'm from undead are just animated bones, they have no will of their own, they are exactly as good or evil as those who control them. In fact, putting me with them is misleading. We just share the same type of body, animated dead have never truly been alive. It's all based on misconceptions founded on the creation of legions, before that time the necromantic arts were very widely spread even in Hestopia."
He smiles faintly, "I'm sure you are aware that your wife is technically a necromancer right? Or that's how the court that banished her saw it."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Harnel nods, "I am; I doubt she could have helped you with your ritual otherwise. While I'm uncomfortable with that fact, I'm dealing with it."
"And yes, I've heard the thing about undead never truly living from sages. The point stands, though."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"That we are worthy of fear? I don't really see why we should be worthy of more fear then any other wizard. We're just can't die of age, that's all. I suspect our world might be different however so the point is moot anyway. What you need to know is that I'm not some sort of soul drinker." He replies.
Arik pauses a moment before asking, "So do you mind me asking some slightly more private questions? I'd like to see your point of view."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Harnel nods in response o the first part of what Arik says. He's aware that his lich brother-in-law isn't about to go murdering people wantonly for their essence.
"If you have questions, go ahead and ask them. Doesn't bother me much."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"Excellent, now the question I had was how this relationship of yours were working out. I already know Ces's point of view but I'd like to hear you's as well if you don't mind." Arik asks.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Harnel smiles, "We're doing quite well, I think. We've hit a couple rough patches, but nothing that's made us question our love for each other. I'm more referring to the predicament I'm in right about now."
Of course, it's kind of hard to forget he's currently a demon trapped in a forcefield inside his own home, but oh well.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"I hardly even noticed." The lich replies with a grin. And if Harnel is finished with his beer, he will offer him another one.
"I'd like to know more about the state you're in however seeing you now count yourself as a danger to my sister and all. Are you losing self-control?" Arik inquires with a slight tilt of his head.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"I'm not sure," Harnel says somberly, "The only difference I'm feeling right now is that I'm starting to dislike people more, other than Cessie. I don't feel like seeing anybody but her, and I'm not sure why. If it goes on, it might devolve into outright hostility, and that's obviously something I want to avoid."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"Like a rabid guard dog." Arik muses. "But ah, if you like to know a secret, that's almost exactly how I feel." He explains. "I try to keep all people at a distance since I'm afraid of hurting them you see? But in my case it's just a lack of empathy." He pauses, looking closely at the half-dragon.
"I just like to say it's survivable. As long as there is one single person caring for you, you can remain human. Besides, you really don't like that much different if I may say. It's just the colors."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Harnel nods, "I'll keep that in mind. As for my appearance, There's plenty of things I find different, like my claws," he raises a hand, showing it to Arik. where before his claws were straight with only a slight curve, now they're hooked with wicked barbs and serrations, "It's a bit jarring to look at my own hands," he must feel the same way about the rest of the changes, but the hand is what he sees most.
"Was it the same for you when you first became a lich?"
