"Okay. So they cut you open and put implants in." That makes sense to the pixie. They got to get them inside of you somehow, right? "Does it hurt?" She asks. Sounds like it'd hurt a lot to her.

Re: [NEXUS] MagCave V: Tilt Your Head, and the Thread Number and Colon Look Like a Fa
[Riss' Quarters]
"Not now, they don't. Again, they used to do so but not anymore. There are smoother ways of installing the implants." Archimedes said, gently reminding the pixie of touching on just this topic only a moment ago.
"And.. Well, technically it does hurt, yes, but there are substances that you are given so you don't feel the pain and generally render you unconscious. You sleep your way through the process but you might wake up sore, depending on what sort of suppressant medication they have you on." Hopefully that wouldn't be as frightening to the pixie, knowing that she wouldn't feel much on the off chance that she was involved in some sort of surgery. Hopefully it wouldn't be necessary, though.

"Oh. Oooh, I get it." Okay, that totally makes sense. Kinda. Maybe. Well, more than it did before. The pixie grins, a bit proud of herself for keeping up with this complicated topic.

Re: [NEXUS] MagCave V: Tilt Your Head, and the Thread Number and Colon Look Like a Fa
[Riss' Quarters]
"Well, surprising as that may be, I think we have covered all of the basic topics. Though, remember that, as tools, enhancements are not necessarily the end-all item. Though, I can bet you that there is more than one person who is working to make that so." Archimedes said, concluding what had been a somewhat lengthy lesson.
"Now that we have this done, do you have any questions that haven't yet been answered?" Though, it was likely that most questions had been covered already. Unless, of course, Mimi wanted to know just how well a specific implant functioned or something like that. Specifics would be welcomed if interest was shown
Though, Mimi could just as well simply ask about another topic entirely. That would be just as fine too.

"Oh. Great!" That wasn't bad. Mimi even managed to keep up! "Questions? Um... So what would I have to do if I wanted some?" Her interest has been peaked and there's a lot of value in anything that could make her a better hunter.

Re: [NEXUS] MagCave V: Tilt Your Head, and the Thread Number and Colon Look Like a Fa
[Riss' Quarters]
"Ah, was wondering when you'd ask that. Thought you'd been interested ever since you first expressed wanting to know more. Well, I don't think I would be able to give them to you but Riss definitely would. Oh she builds other things for the joy of it, I think so at least, but that's the closest thing to a vocation she has. The creation of implants, I mean. First thing, though, is that we need to get some basic biometrics down so that we know how to modify our template. Basically, that means we need to know more about how you personally work so we can customize your tools to work just as you want them to." Archimedes replied, getting ready to file a third request. Given that it would be actual equipment this time, it probably wouldn't be looked upon oddly. Though, some things might be hard to move about so it might make for a tour around the Cave, depending upon how things worked out.
"I think I can make do with some of the instruments at hand to get the first part out of the way. But once that is over, you'll need to decided exactly what it is you want. I'll have to draw up a catalog, now that I think of it. I suppose I can narrow things down a bit, though. Are you looking for additional functionality or to simply improve upon the abilities you already have?"

Edijar shakes his head. Even though Magtok was right that Charity would take offense, she'd more likely try to kill him instead of just break his nose. After all their time together, she'd become more monogamous than he'd have ever hoped for when he first met her. He was happier for it, but it also made him realize how much had changed in the past few years. With a sigh, Edijar looks up a bit at the cyborg and offers a slight smile. "No, I'm not doing any of that, Magtok. I'm retiring as soon as Monday hits, but soldiering is all I know what to do. Soon I'll be out of your hair. Figuratively of course." He adds after a moment, taking note of the cyborg's lack of hair.
PatCave
Pat leads her MagClone deeper into her cave, and he'll find the place even more packed with more bio-machinery than ever, but strangely it seems devoid of most of her forms. At least, the part he was in was. He'll pass by a pair of growth chambers. One large enough to house a fully grown mammoth, and the other able to house a horse, and both were full of different mostly-grown Pat forms. Whatever they were for wouldn't be so obvious as the first seems to be a mass of chitin, arms, and spines where the second seemed to be an oversized drider type, except fleshier.
If Magtok doesn't ask, she won't elaborate on them for now.
When they reach the special alcove where the creature born of his genes had been grown, he'll find a thick crystal slab between it and them, with the chamber beyond filled with pale green nutrient fluid. Whatever was in there was too blurry to make details out of, but it seemed to be moving as Pat put a hand on a lever. "Ready to see it?" She asks. "Might want to stand back so your robe doesn't get wet."

"I don't believe for a second that retirement can do a thing to stop you from inadvertently or intentionally making my life complicated, Eddy."
Magtok shakes his head and smiles. Life finds a way. It always does, and is so full of unpleasant surprises that only a fool would ever consider themselves sufficiently guarded against any of them. If things seem safe, it's only because someone's trying to lull you into a false sense of security.
"Good luck with that anyways, though. Oh, and five bucks says that an apocalypse or something stirs soon to try to get you to put the helmet back on."
PatCave
Magtok doesn't stop to question Pat at all, hurriedly retreating a couple of paces to what he hopes is a safe distance away. When someone says there's a chance you're going to be hit with goo, you step the **** back no matter how likely or unlikely being hit with goo actually seems at the moment.
"Alright, ready!"

"Nope, he's keeping the collar. And everything on that list is insane rambling, really. He does probably need those drugs, though. The Coca-Cola and pants, too. Hold up, I'll have a Magbot administer it all in a second."
A robot arrives with an assortment of pills, needles, an old-timey Coke bottle, and the most outrageously hideous pants I've ever had the misfortune to behold. The drink and pills are hurriedly shoved down NFB's throat, the needles are jabbed into the back of the sorceror's neck, and robot tries to shove the pants right in Zee's mouth, or the general area in which she'd have a mouth if she doesn't happen to have one right now.
"Elucid. Nurse, begin the procedure."
In the veins of any other individual, that much medication would almost certainly be crippling. The drugs don't seem to have done much of anything to Needs, though. He's no more stable or unstable than he was a moment ago. I don't remember the pupils of his left eye having the shape of a five-pointed star, though.

With the robot either stopped or suspended, Iriel will take off one glove to reveal a normal, human looking hand. Mimi's face lights up when he says Riss would have to be the one to do it. "Awesome. Let's do that right away." She says enthusiastically. "Um... I think improving. But maybe some new stuff. Stuff for helping me hunt is best." She's not exactly sure what she wants at the moment.

Re: [NEXUS] MagCave V: Tilt Your Head, and the Thread Number and Colon Look Like a Fa
[Riss' Quarters]
"Well then. I think we should stick with the basic enhancement, shall we? That way you can get used to things by doing what you've always done before getting anything more demanding of attention. Does that sound fine?" Archimedes asked as he drew up several imaged indicating increased reaction time, greater muscle efficiency, and the like. If Mimi could think of a particular enhancement of that venue, it would probably be up there.
Elsewhere, though, the A.I. was borrowing a few Magbots from places or labs that wouldn't miss them and sent them about prepping the proper equipment. X-rays, blood tests, and so on would need to be done after all. But at least the first implant would be useful for benchmarking in the future.

Misha arrives, stark naked despite having left wrapped in a bedsheet toga. She's still holding Riss' hand, even though the electric sensation was rather uncomfortable at first. That limb has become rather numb from prolonged contact, so she's content to let Riss have a bit of comfort from the handholding.
Unlike many other times, she seems rather aware of her own nudity, mostly because her companion said she might get in trouble with Magtok for being seen with someone like Misha in her current state. Best to do something about this, before it becomes an issue.
"Want me to slip in as water again, so you don't get in trouble with the cave owner?"

Re: [NEXUS] MagCave V: Tilt Your Head, and the Thread Number and Colon Look Like a Fa
[Riss' Quarters]
"Well then. I suppose I'll have to borrow a body here.. And don't worry. The thing I'll be 'in' will just be there so I can help with any of the particulars that may come up. I can't very well help you while cooped up in this room, can I?" Archimedes said as a Magbot that was wearing a sombrero at a jaunty angle opened the door. "Ah. There we go." the 'Magbot' said, sounding like a more robotic... Well technically robot in this case. The irony could wait, however, as Archimedes trotted over to pick up the pillow Mimi was sitting on; the intent being to carry her throughout the cave. It might seem like a bit of a royal treatment now but it could very well be a necessity later on depending on how the tests go.
As for the tests themselves, there would be several of the more basic sort, such as investigating the basic height and mass measurements as well as a quick look at the pixie's skeletal structure. Though, up next would be a blood test so there would be some time for Mimi to ask questions as a spare Magbot rushed about looking for a small enough needle to fit in her arm. Actually, more than one as there would have to be a few injections done later on. "Now, I'd be lying if I said this next part wouldn't hurt but if you can relax for a moment, it will be like a small prick." the A.I. said, still waiting on the needle, however.
[Magcave Entrance]
Riss had clearly been thinking of other things if her response was any indication. "Mm? Oh right I should ha-" A strange expression crossed the muse's face as she turned to look towards what appeared to be a regular, unadorned wall. Well, as unadorned as it came in the MagCave. "Did you..? No, sorry. Must have been distracted there. Um.. Oh right. Forgot to grab the sheet... Don't have any spares so.. Maybe if I use.. Sorry, distracted again. Um.. Do what you think is best. It'll probably be fine." she said. The entire trip back had been something like this as the muse had been struggling to simply catch every idea that was running through her head. Agitating to say the least but I'm not yelling at anyone yet. But I feel like it. It's like an overcharged power cell and.. No, those would explode. Probably rather loud. Wasn't there a case or two that overcharged power cells were used as makeshift bombs? Maybe. Probably could check up on that idea to see if I could use it for something. Doubt it though... What was I thinking about before I started thinking about this? If I just had something to focus on then I could focus... Tautological statement! Has the word Tau in there.. Maybe I could spell it by using the symbol for- No! Focus. Need something to focus on.
If Misha simply lead her on, then they would arrive wherever it was the neriad intended their destination to be. However, if she decided to hide, Riss would stand for a moment, as if having a dizzy spell, before making a direct path to her workshop. Though.. It might be hard to tell but she seemed to be humming something rather discordant under her breath.

[Riss' Quarters]
Mimi eeps as the pillow is picked up and she falls back on her butt. She does indeed seem to enjoy being carried around, however.
As for the tests, Mimi is very light for her height. Largely because she's very thin and a bit longer proportionately than a normal human. Not to mention her bones are rather light, though stronger than one would expect them to be. Her skeletal structure is fairly standard compared to a human's, with the exception of some oddities on her back where her wings meet her body.
Archimedes will have to find an awfully small needle for Mimi's arm. She regards him curiously as they wait, still not used to him not being a head on the wall. "I'm not afraid of any pain." She says, almost defiantly.

Magcave Entrance -> The Lime Room
Misha shrugs. If Riss wants her to do what she thinks is best, then she'd best get to it post-haste.
And that means leading her back to her room so she can calm down, hopefully. Misha walks along the route she remembers taking the last time she snuck in, hauling Riss along by the hand and striding as naked as the day she was born, apparently oblivious to the presence of any security cameras, gawking Magbots, or Magterns. If Magtok himself was conveniently placed in her path she probably wouldn't give him a second look before bowling him over, so singlemindedly she adheres to her goal.
Of course, her calculations are a bit off, and she ends up leading Riss to the Lime Room rather than her personal quarters by mistake. So now she's standing outside a door with a presumably growling hellbeast barring her entry.

Finally a few particularly tiny needles was obtained from a biology lab a few hallways down. Hopefully they wouldn't be missed... Archimedes amended the number in stock for that room anyway given that it was best to be thorough. "Really? Well then this will be quick. However, I don't want to cause you any undue discomfort anyway so if you would look this way for just a moment." Archimedes said, reaching out to swab the arm due to get stuck. He didn't particularly believe her but he made sure to sound like he did at least.
"Now then, exactly when does the leaflet qualify?" the A.I. said as he made to prick Mimi's arm. The intent was to draw the pixie's attention away from the motions being done so she would be as relaxed as possible. Tense muscles meant that it would be tougher going as well as a bit more damaging to the muscle fiber around the vein in question.
[The Lime Room]
Imp, being inside, would have to see Misha first before becoming an angry, snarling, growling guard beast. While it probably wasn't the best arrangement at keeping people out, per say, the added surprise factor of having a heavy, spiny, two headed cannonball with teeth and a stinger rush at any hapless invader more than made up for it. However, Riss spared the neriad that misfortune by entering the room first.
"Ah.. Well this will do nicely." the muse said to the room as she reached down to try and preemptively pacify the hellbeast before it tried to run Misha out. Imp, however, yelped and recoiled from her touch and both muse and beast looked at each other for a long, confused moment. Imp seemed to be especially confused, however, as she was quite aware that something was amiss but simply couldn't figure out what it was.
"That was.. Odd." the muse said, shrugging and pulling the multicolored totem out of her pocket. While she wasn't sure this would work, it was worth a test. Returning to the door, Riss would let Misha in while making sure to keep the totem in full view. Assuming Misha wanted to share the same room with Imp. At the very least, the hellbeast wouldn't attack on sight although she would let out a low growl before sitting on her haunches and staring at the neriad with all four eyes.

Misha slips around Imp as she's distracted, not wanted to spend a moment longer than necessary being growled at.
After that, she addresses the odd sensation Riss seemed to be putting out, "Your skin started feeling like it was electric earlier. I kind of lost feeling in one hand because of how long we were touching. The thing probably got shocked when you rubbed it." Speaking of rubbing, Misha begins massaging the back of her wrist tenderly, trying to bring some feeling back into her arm.
"So is there anything in particular you want to do?"

Edijar is about to reply something snarky to Magtok when his cell rings. "Aaaaaaaare you gonna take me home tonight?" can be heard loud and clear by anyone in the room, and without pause, the man flips open his cell. "Hey Charity. What's up?"
PatCave
Pat gives Magtok one last broad grin before flipping a literal switch, causing the fluid to drain from the tank and the crystal wall to open up. It's likely too dark for Magtok to see anything certain beyond a humanoid form, but he'll hear something coughing up the extra fluids as it tears the various tubes from its body.

"I see.." Riss said, apparently not quite absorbing the information as she began pulling seemingly random tools off the wall. Let's see now. I'll need.. No.. I have several designs in place but.. Wait, what if I.. If I take that and then.. I could put them all in a singular housing in that case rather than the modular design I had earlier. Would make it more mobile to if.. Yes that would be perfe-Wait what did she say? "You said it felt.. Hold on.. Got something around here that should.. Ah, here we are." The muse's scattered mutterings only seemed to become more fragmented as time went on. However, she happened to have a voltmeter at hand and tried to test if there was, in fact, a physical presence of electricity. Of course, there was none which was puzzling unless.. No, I can run a scan later. Would take too long right now. Speaking of time, I'll need a workforce if I'm to.. Ah! Right. I can just recuit a few.. Ah.. Let me see.. I could just have a few start working at once and then assemble everything here.. I'll have to start on the control system at the same time the shell is being made so.. I'll need at least a dozen here to start with.
"Well, is there any damage as far as you can tell? Ah! And could you get me that thing over there? The small grey rectangle I mean." the muse said as she began to turn on several overlays in her visual range. Well, that as well as a number of other things such as requests for materials, labs, and spare hands to name a few. Misha might very well get the feeling that Riss wasn't paying her as much attention as she would normally. Hopefully the Neriad wouldn't feel too put out, though.
[Medical Office #34]
"And there we go. Now, just lay back for a while as we need to collect a sample size. Also, anything particularly sweet that you like? Fruit or somesuch, perhaps?" Archimedes asked, making sure that the set up was, in fact, just as he had left it. Double checking was never to be frowned upon after all. Especially given the altered parameters even as slight as the change had been.
"After this, we'll need to map out a few things inside your body. Which means more needles but none nearly the size we're using here so it should hurt much less. Though, we will need you to stay still. If you want, given that we'll have your blood data, we can slightly sedate you just in case you think you'll need help to do that." the A.I. said. Given what he had seen, it was probably something that they would have to do anyway but he was willing to see just how well Mimi was at staying still.

Misha pauses in her massage to grab the aformentioned thing and pass it over. At least Riss was still being interesting, instead of going catatonic. Misha could stand to be ignored while the muse worked off some nervous energy.
"I think I'm alright. The feeling is coming back, and it doesn't really hurt anymore. I'll just hang around in case you need me then."
And with that, Misha leans back against a wall to watch Riss work. Should prove to be very informative.

"I guess some kind of fruit would be okay." Mimi lies back, but she seems to be having some trouble keeping still. She's not the type really, as she often moves and fidgets. Thinking about how she's not supposed to is hardly helping too. "I'll be fine." She insists regardless.

Re: [NEXUS] MagCave V: Tilt Your Head, and the Thread Number and Colon Look Like a Fa
[The Lime Room]
At first, the muse wouldn't appear to be doing much. Really just staring at the middle of the room as she leaned on the corner of a workbench. Spherical would be best if I want to conserve materials. Shape would make passive defense systems stronger by the same virtue... Wait, I could just reappropriate them for that project earlier. Here I was, about to try and reinvent something that already existed. Great, that's time waste-. With blinding speed, the muse suddenly hurled a screwdriver at the far wall, the tool barely having time to be affected by gravity in it's arc and chipping off a small but notable amount of material on collision. "Thought I heard... No, that was.. Couldn't be here so... No, must have been my imagination." Riss muttered, looking quite confused for several moments as she stared at the wall.
It took about a minute before she returned to her work, finally getting around to physical manipulation rather than strictly virtual interaction. Prying off the cover of the spare external memory unit, the muse delicately began to separate the actual device from it's housing. Like getting at a pomegranate. Oh hey! That's a pretty nifty analogy there. And here I though fruit was already pretty good. Then.. A pineapple would probably be closer to a security system... Coconut would be... No, physical defenses would be too easy.. Hmm. Ah, never mind, need to get the door. Holding out the colorful totem again, Riss propped open the door as half a dozen Magbots entered the room while carrying three large boxes of slightly curved piping between them. Ah, good. The frame is here. Let's see then.. If I have this queue set up right then.. You know, queue is a really strange looking word. Anyway, if his is set up right then I can expect some of the primary motors to be finished in about an hour. At least the fabrication technology is half-decent here. But I think the chemical tanks should be next, followed by the amplifiers. Which gives me thirty minutes to finish this and make a new housing for it and the processing units. A bit tight but it's essentially just rearranging things rather than building from scratch. Doable.
Imp appeared to be dismayed by all the activity and the fact that all the Magbots were dropping long shiny things all around her guarding spot. She tried nipping at one of the robots but ended up letting go nearly as quick because the metal hurt her teeth. Somewhat defeated, the hellbeast relocated to where she was a bit closer to where Misha was standing and sat down to stare at the door with the canine head while the feline face watchfully scanned the new arrivals.
"Hey Misha?" Riss asked as she plucked a small, blue white cube from the grey device she was dissecting. "Just what did you do normally? I mean, obviously you had a life before now. What was it like, exactly? What happened and so on? Oh! And I would suggest putting on one of those masks over there because the frame welding is gonna start soon. Eye protection and all."
[Medical Office #34]
"Are you sure? If you even move the slightest bit, We'll have to start the procedure all over again. And you'll need to stay still for upwards of ten or fifteen minutes in some cases. Are you sure you will be able to do that?" Archimedes asked as he produced an orange from seemingly nowhere and began peeling it, handing the slices over as they were removed from the rind. Really, he had picked it up earlier in preparation for this but it still paid to ask the question. It always was best to give the opportunity to choose after all.
"You see, I only ask as I think the tests will be a little stressful on you so I think you would best have something to help you relax is all." the A.I. said, citing one of the several reasons why it thought some sedation was a good idea. It was the one that sounded the most diplomatic too. Better than 'I don't think I believe you' at least.

Misha shrugs and dons the mask, leaving it flipped up so she can still speak properly. The strap gets caught in her hair and pulls a bit when she moves her head too quickly, but she perseveres.
"Mostly I just lounged around in my pool, waiting for something interesting to happen. I never really thought about leaving until the last time I woke up. I'd heard there was a fey party going on, but I showed up too late. So I wandered around a bit, met some people, and then ran into you. It hasn't really been that long since my last long sleep, but I'm a lot less stupid than I woke up last time." That probably didn't explain much at all really. Misha is an odd duck, that's for sure.

If that isn't a very tiny orange, then just one slice would be more than enough to feed Mimi and a couple more pixies to boot. She probably won't need much. :smalltongue:
The pixie does take the hopefully smallish piece and nibble on it, though. "Well... I guess so. If you think it's a good idea." Mimi says. She's not keen on admitting it, but she knows she's not great at sitting still."

"Aaaaaaaare you gonna take me home tonight?" can be heard loud and clear by anyone in the room, and without pause, the man flips open his cell.
"Hey Charity. What's up?"
Entrance
Magtok is being put on hold by a cellphone with a Fat-Bottomed Girls ringtone?! He's being upstaged by...by that?! Nothing against that wonderful Queen song, of course, but this is hardly the time or place! He doesn't have to stand for this kind of mockery, you know! He is above this kind of treatment, he didn't get this far in life to be kept waiting like a smelly peasant!
"rrrgh...."
He bites his lip, stares at the ground, and gives it his best glower as he desperately hopes that Edijar is far too busy with whoever he's talking to to notice Magtok freaking out about being set aside for something that can't ever come close to being even remotely more important than him.

PatCave
Magtok waits in silence, eager to find out just what this being looks like, how Pat intends to greet it, and what the strange being means to do with its first few moments of breath. Oddly enough, not a single fearful thought, not one twinge of paranoia or sneaking suspicion that he should be running away pops into his head. It's almost as if he trusts Pat not to accidentally walk him into a death trap or something. Weird. :smallconfused:
