Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
Hm. Not as vulgar or acerbic as I expected from May. Although the accusations of knee fetishism are in character.

The equivalent of a prison giving a guy a new cheap suit and sending him out into the world.

Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
That chassis sounds... pretty freaking terrible. Think that's intentional? Like, they actually design them to be uncomfortable and awkward to encourage them to get out of it as fast as physically possible?

More that it's all cheap. The only bit that doesn't fit "cheap materials" is the feet, and that'd be explained as a lack of quality control beyond safety.

Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
I haven't seen one of those for years! Or even thought about them! O_O
Obviously they still make them, though....

Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
I hate septum piercing. Always makes me worry the person will accidently rip their nose by accidently locking it somewhere.
-
Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
That's my problem with anything other then earrings for the most part.
-
Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
I'm freaked out by piercings of any kind. Even earrings. I will never understand how people will voluntarily stick metal things into their bodies. I shudder even looking at them. Also, add tattoos to that list. You take colour. And put it into your skin. With a needle. Like, my skin hurts just thinking about it and I feel nauseous.

I dont want them myself, but i don't mind them in other people.
Except Septum Ring.

Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
Claire finally kills with a pun.
-
Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
I'm not sure but I think that might be an author avatar doing the piercing.

It's not exactly how he's drawn himself before.

Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
Ah, so I'm not th only one with an adversity against piercings :smalltongue: Though, it has gotten better but some, like septum rings, I'm still :smalleek: about.
Also: Come on Marten, the joke wasn't that funny, stop laughing to appease your girlfriend :smalltongue:

Hence the need for good delivery. The Shadowrun character joke was still funnier though.

Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
I figure part of the humour could be found in laughing at Claire's discomfort while getting the piercing after that pun.
-
Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
Geez, Marten, that was stupid.

Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
So, any bets on what the THING is?
I dunno, it seems like a machine that goes DING when in the presence of a Zygon to me.

It's from Hanner's father, it might do anything, including reshaping reality. Claire looks the same, though...

There are a lot of shape changers in Dr. Who. Zygons, Rutans (what IS their beef with the Sontarans, anyway?), the Bane...
You need a device that emits a tone depending on which shapeshifter you encounter. If you're in a crowd and the device starts playing something like Bohemian Rhapsody, might be time to get out of that particular crowd...

Makes a noise and a light when you press the button. Her dad wanted to make something useless for once.

Now that we've met her father, this is scarily plausible. Though it does clash a bit with his panic at finding out it was his birthday, and he was running out of time to do things before he died.

If that's not a thing he's done before it still fits that.

Septum rings make me want to grab them, or maybe clip a chain to them, and drag the person around by them. Seriously, they put those in bulls so that people can control a ton of irritable beef by inflicting pain on its tender nose-parts. Why would you want one in your own nose?

Some people are into that. Other people think it looks cool. *shrug*

Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
Is anyone concerned that Hanners has an app for orbital weapon platforms? I do wonder which parent she got it from through... I'm sure her mother would want orbital death cannons, but her father would be more likely to make one.

Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
Spoiler: New Comic
Show
The new update is so much in Sync with which was posted in this thread, it's almost scary. .... maybe not as scary as that line about the app.
-
Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
Maybe just me, but this latest comic has a very classic QC vibe to it.

I think this thread by large is very much the intended audience for WC, at least in most regards. We may bitch about it at times but we have a rather good idea of how the plot develops... Well, some of us, anyway. Also: Crazy scifi gadgets are always fun to guess about.
So... random question: Why would her dad not a manual to the weird device? Unless its a psychological experiment....
-
Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
He knows how it works, it's incredibly obvious and simple. Why would he need to write a manual?

Re: Questionable Content 9: To kill a Yelling Bird
I found the thing from before about robot jobs/personalities - commentary under comic 1996.
