Actually, after MI, me and Dihan alternated avatars every day on purpose. I was perfectly aware that it was over.
I'm just saying that we need a break from all these theme weeks. If ABR started making it's own theme weeks... well, just think about how many avatars I'd need.
Besides, MI week doesn't require any new avatars.

Being yourself is something for children's cartoon characters, not for REAL MEN!

Break week! Where you have your normal avatars for the whole week. :smalltongue:

They said the same thing about suspenders, but now I'm hip! All my friend say, "Nice pants" and then we laugh together...
... Actually they just laugh.
... When was the last time anyone said hip?
*sudden realization*
Crap.

My friend suggested that last week.
Admittedly with more caps and forum-inappropriate words.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIII, No Plot for YOU!
Hey, guys. Kinda forgot to tell you all this.
As of last Wednesday, I finished my HSC examinations. Which means that I have finished high school forever.
Yay.
http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/a...comics/Yay.png This makes me look a lot less happy than I actually am.

High School correlates to UK Secondary School, I think.
That makes you what, 15? I'm 3 years into college
EDIT: Wikipedia says 12, but I seriously doubt that somehow.

I gave up trying to figure out correlations two years ago.
Suffice to say, I'm seventeen, and going into tertiary education. That's university and other similar stuff, in case it means something different.
Also, what's "college" over in Britland?
'Course, if you saw a picture of me I wouldn't blame you for underestimating my age.

12(+1) years of schooling. One starts school at about 6. This is a good example of why I stopped trying to figure out correlations.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIII, No Plot for YOU!
In England, we have Infants (Years 1 to 2), then Junior (Years 3 - 6), then Secondary (7 - 11). Then we have College, which is where I am in my 3rd year of 3 max, and then University.
I'll be hitting University next year, my brother is taking a year out with 1 class at college to get his music tiers up (I don't know precisely what that means, but it'll apparently make the Universities see less sense and admit him).
So on leaving Secondary school you'd be 15.

You get fourteen years of school? Yick.
Though, we get the School Certificate which takes place in year 10, and the Higher School Certificate (HSC, as mentioned), which takes place in year 12. So your Secondary School would be our SC.
On that note, Universities are a specific kind of tertiary education here, more exclusive than other forms, rather than what appears to be a catch-all name for tertiary stuff to you, much like 'college' appears to be to Americans.
Humbug. I think I've given up on equivalences but they still find a way to catch up to me.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIII, No Plot for YOU!
Actually, I'm pretty sure that college is none-compulsory in England. Which means 11 years of school.
I shoulda stayed.:smallwink:

Technically the HSC is also compulsory. It's ill-advised, however, if your career path requires academic qualifications. Ill-advised is a serious understatement.

Meaning if you want to actually earn money. You can drop after Secondary but it's not the brightest idea.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIII, No Plot for YOU!
Yeah... the American Public School system is pretty bad, and very confusing for foreigners.
We have Preschool for anyone under 6.
Elementary School is for 6-11 year olds.
Kindergarten for 6 year olds.
1st grade for 7 year olds.
2nd for 8...
3-9
4-10
5-11
Then middle school is for three more years...
6, 7, and 8th grade,
Then High School is for four more.
Freshmen (9th grade) <-Me.
Sophomore (10th)
Junior (Yep. It's called Junior.) (11th)
And finally Senior (12th).
Then you can choose to attend college, which is highly recommended.
For an undergraduate degree, there's four years, also called Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior. Then, for a master's degree, which you should get only for certain carreers, is another two years. to become a doctor, you need a doctorate, which is ANOTHER two years.
Basically, there's dropouts, Half-high school grads (done at 16), High school grads (18), Undergraduates (22), Graduates (24), and Doctors (26).
The confusing part is, my cousing, who is currently in college, is doing a year of schooling in Great Britain. It's strange, because... He somehow found an accurate match.
He said the school there is really easy, but he's not sure whether it's the professor, the material, or the general education system.
The problem with our education is the 'equality' garbage. In the public schools (I go to private ), (except in special, special cases to which I was denied), one cannot excel beyond his peers. The problem is, some kids just don't care, and others don't try, and some learn slowly. We have to wait for them, and our education degrades because of it.
I couldn't tolerate the public schooling, so here I am...
So wait, Lying, you said secondary ends at 11 years of age, or 11 years of education? What year do you start schooling?
-
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIII, No Plot for YOU!
I've noticed over here in Jolly old England (:smallannoyed: jolly as in rainy:smallbiggrin:) that different parts have different schooling ages...
for example, where i'm from we have:
Nursery (under 5's),
Reception (5 year old, intro into school thingy),
Primary school (years 1 through 4),
Secondary school (years 5 through 8),
High school (years 9 through 11),
6th Form (years 12 and 13 (possibly another year if you did really badly),
college and Uni.
EDIT:
Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to start my backstory comic
(whilst listening to Alestorm:smalltongue:)

I left Seconday 3 years ago at age 15, so therefore we enter schooling at age 4 (I say "therefore" because there's no chance I'd remember that far back).
-
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIII, No Plot for YOU!
Wait what?
Here we have Primery school which is year 1-6, that's split into two sections, years 1-2 is primary, and 3-6 is junior.
Then we have secondary school years 7-11.
And then either 6th form or college for two years from ages 16-18 unless you wer held back, or had to do an extra year.
Then Uni from 18-20 I believe. (again unless you had an extra year)
-
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIII, No Plot for YOU!
And to add more confusion, another version of the English Education system.
Begin School at age 4.
- First School, end at age 9
- Middle School, ending at age 13
- Upper School
- Year 9
- Years 10, 11: GCSE Qualification
- End of compulsory education (Age 16)
- Sixth Form/College
- Two or three years of study: A Level Qualification
- University
- Three years onwards of study: Degree (BSc, MSc, etc.)
So 12 years of compulsory education, followed by at least to 2 to actually get a job, then Uni.
I'm in my second year of Sixth Form, and will be heading to University next year (assuming I get in somewhere...)
@V Might do. Haven't checked, as vocational subjects hold little attraction for me.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIII, No Plot for YOU!
OOOOKAY wierd school systems. Ours are:
School (From age 6, thats called 0th grade, then up to ninth grade, we get grades at 8th)
Gymnasium (High school, 3 years)/Trade school (For people who wanna become carpenter or something)
university (Can go from about 3-5 years)
Then we're done.
WHOOHOO for easy school where you can't dumb out before High school
