Dimmer Witches and Black Bards (free Quietians)
Spoiler
Show
Natives of Quietia, a quiet, dark world with a black sun and three moons, where night and song reign supreme. Conquered by one of the thousands of children of the Hive Mother, the children of Quietia were herded into one of two academies on the planet to be trained as Dimmer Witches or Black Bards for the Hive Mother's armies. Jumpin' Jack Snipes has recently freed those within the academies, and now thousands of Dimmer Witches and Black Bards aged 7 to 20 live in the Underbed with the Bogeymen. They're not true creatures of shadow, though, and not yet used to their freedom, so Jack wants to secure a land for them in the Nexus.
Dimmer Witches can control darkness in it's purest form, blacking out lights, putting people to sleep or giving them dark visions, and making cushions or hard surfaces from darkness, and can cast hexes and boons and brew potions. They take familiars from Jack's wyverns or the shades of the Underbed. They are pale, and dark haired and eyed, and dress in a gothic or gothic lolita style.
Black Bards are the sound aspect of Quietia's people, men capable of roaring sonic attacks or sounds as sharp and silent as a dagger. Working together in 'Bands' or 'Orchestras', they blast their enemies to pieces or work with the Dimmer Witches to lure them into traps with their sound manipulating powers. They have similar skin and hair to the Dimmer Witches, but dress in a manner similar to hardcore metal bands, or a combo of KISS and savage barbarians.
Bogeymen and Shades and Shadow Wyverns
Spoiler
Show
The native denizens of the Underbed, the bogeymen are tall, broad, creatures with curling horns, jutting jaws and teeth, hooked wings, and sharp claws and animals' heads. They seem somewhat simple, especially with their speech impediments, but are actually rather clever. They can portal within realms and dimensions through shadows, and can travel between dimensions through the shadows beneath beds and in closets and wardrobes. They are extremely loyal to Jack, as he killed and ate their previous king and gave them their freedom.
Shades are bogeymen that are born from lucid dreams, and while smaller and weaker, have the ability to perform minor illusions.
Shadow Wyverns are draconic creatures bred in the Underbed that have gained the powers of the Bogeymen. With dark scales that emit black fog and small, bright eyes set in front of large horns, they have a sort of demonic appearance but are actually quite docile. The poison in their tail stings has weakened and become little more than a numbing agent, but their cleverness and ability to travel between shadows makes up for it.
The Underbed
Spoiler
Show
A realm of dreams, nightmares, and shadows, the Underbed can be accessed using bogey magic. The sky is usually blocked by clouds, but sometimes you can get glimpses of far off bedsprings and dust bunnies. Though there is no sun, there is a glowing moon and it's always just bright enough to see. Creatures and mirages born of dreams and nightmares stalk these lands, hunting in the forests of hand-like 'dead' trees, and though it is at times beautiful, it is certainly not safe, and any mortal non-shadowkin here will slowly waste away.
The safe place is the City of Lights, where no dream dare enter. Jack's palace sits on top of a hill, crafted from black and white marble and filled with his trophies and bogeymen, as it is a public place. Expanding out from that in concentric circles that only make any sort of architectural sense if view from above is a massive city made from the same material ina vaguely central American style, with every street well lit by colorful paper lanterns and decorated with crystalline, sugary candies. The bogeymen, shades, and free Quietians live here with their shadow wyvern pets.

Artificially created to be scouts, and modeled after predatory avians and reptiles, their life force was provided by the blood of a man with a connection to the fae, and now they are chaotic, half-fae hunters with a very mutative gene sequence. While they follow a general structure, and most share the same features, it is nowhere near uncommon to see one with an odd adaptation or color scheme, especially since some beneficial mutations are singled out for military purposes.
Tall humanoids, with slightly flat and angular faces like a yuan-ti, with ruffled ears that roll up like a blue dragon's, metallic hair, golden or bright green eyes, shape-changing pupils, and frills, spikes, or feathers on the backs of their heads. They aren't fat, but their muscular structure makes them somewhat thickly built, though light thanks to whip-cord musles and lightweight but strong bones. They have redundancies (sometimes multiple) of nearly every organ beneath the shoulder, including reproductive organs, which are kept safely in a sheath because holy crap why do all the other mammals just wave theirs around that's a weak pint. Their fingers and toes are very dextrous and slightly elongated and tipped with blunt claws, and the tops covered in boney extrusions for protection. Their noses are somewhat broad, with wide slits and deep pits for powerful smell, and their tongues are long and bright red, sliding in and out of grooves between sharp teeth. The most common skin colors are alabaster, pitch black, a watery blue, or a creamy orange, with thin, shallow lines up and down their bodies. They're fast and strong, but have high metabolisms that need about 150% as much food as a human of equal size and age would consume to stay healthy.
They have a hunting focused mindset, and their society focuses mainly on military and scientific exploits, though many instead work civilian jobs on the sections of their home chain of islands that serve as a resort to bring in money. They are generally laid back, but have overactive adrenal glands that can get the easily excited. They have no connection t the Arcane, the Warp, or psychic resonation, and so are generally immune to such methods of attack, but also cannot use them. Most of their race has been formed in tubes via combined genetic sequences and put through accelerated growth, but given their favorite form of recreation and their tendency to birth litters, babies are becoming more and more common, especially half-breed infants. They employ other species in their military commonly, mostly soldiers who visited the resort and decided to enlist or remnants of the dwarven pirates that once plagued their waters.
Wolfhounds
Spoiler
Show
One of the signs of the Wild Hunt (and commonly mistaken as part of it), the wolfhounds of the Fiachmaistir are specially bred, masive hunting dogs that serve the god of the Holy Hunt even in his old age and decreasing grip on reality. All are large, shaggy and wirey haired Irish Wolfhounds with energetic attitudes and fierce natures, and can only be harmed by silver, titanium, tungsten, uranium, obsidian, natural claws and teeth, or a weapon made from a fallen enemy. They come in three breeds.
Hunting hounds, bred for their higher intelligence and tracking skills, have ashy grey or midnight black fur and rolling green fire for tongue and eyes. Their fur smokes constantly.
Stormcaller hounds, bred for their speed and pulling strength, have fur as dark as storm clouds, and crackling lightning for eyes and frozen shards of hail for teeth. Their barks are thunderclaps, and wherever they go, storms follow.
Daylight hounds have white fur and brilliant golden eyes. They clear away storms and nights for the new sun to rise, and are not harmed by uranium.
Transcendance
Spoiler
Show
A cult forming in the Violet Manor of Skyside and the Big River Hotel in Inside, these affluent, psychically talented people believe that when one gives birth to a chestburster (in the typically gory way chestbursters are born) a purer, cleaner copy of your soul is made in the new lifeform to live on. Most of the lower cultists are actually mindblanked and neurally remade vagrants, but the higher ups are often doctors or scientists. They wear organic black and gold (or purple and gold, if they have rank) robes meant to resemble xenomorph carapaces, and use necromonger kinetic rifles. They have access to Umbrella Corp manufacture cloning facilities and facehugger eggs, and have begun a campaign of kidnapping people or purchasing slaves and using facehuggers to allow them to 'transcend', then capturing and cybernetically modifying the brains of the resulting xenomorphs to make them more placid and intelligent. Because toying around with xenomorphs always works.
Special Xenomorph breeds so far:
Tough, greenish xenomorphs with oversized fangs (Half-Orc)
Sneaky, thin xenomorphs (Elf)
Sneaky, thin xenomorphs with wings (Winged Elf)
Runner morphs with regeneration that are weak to silver and grow stronger in the moonlight, and can transmit eggs like a facehugger (Werewolf)
Large, purplish xenomorphs with sadistic natures, unnatural cleverness, winglike membranes, minor psychic powers, regeneration, immunity to most poisons and chemicals and acids and fire, and horned heads (Half-daemon duergar)
Bluish-green aquatic morphs with webbed claws and tails and sonic attacks (mermaid)
Large, tough, dumb xenomorphs (ogre)
Xenomorphs that can turn intangible if not constrained by silver or lead (eyrecrad)
A daemonmorph capable of runic magic
Three daemonmorphs with higher intelligence and psyker powers.

Jumpin' Jack Snipes
"So I shanked him hardcore."
Spoiler
Show
A tall, impossibly thin and sharply angled man made from black. Just black, the idea of black. There is no shadowy aura, though the light becomes diffuse around him and any lights he walks close to extinguish, he is just the essence of black. His eyes and teeth are stark white, and almost cartoonish, the eyes being perfectly circular when not shaped by emotion and his grin somehow wider than his face and full of perfectly triangular teeth.
Jack Snipes was once a man. Actually, a khajit. He was an unscrupulous bandit and a killer, but when his time came, he was given a second chance, and reincarnated as a human to try again. He took his chance, and tried to support his new family as a guitarist, but the family's father blew all the money on booze and was generally a ****. Jack made a deal with a goddess, Lady Luck, to become a renowned and famous guitarist and make enough money to support himself and the family despite the drunken father, so long as he donated some of the money to charity. Soon enough, Jack's greed took over and he stopped giving the money away, at which point Lady Luck came to take his luck back and he panicked and shanked her hardcore. With her dying breath she cursed him to become mad, nothing more than a beast of bloodshed and unthought, and he went home, freaked out, and when confronted, shanked his family hardcore. From there, Jack's mind began to fracture, falling quickly into a murderous, chaos spreading madness, and he started the Harlequin Crew, a gang of anarchists and thugs and killers who did bloody and harsh crime for the hell of it. During this time period, he encountered the Jack of Shades, shanked him hardcore, and took his powers over shadows. The mind of the Jack of Shades stabilized Jack enough that he gave up random crime and left the Harlequin Crew, starting plots and plans to gain power and undo his curse. He was trapped in a nightmare realm known as the Underbed when fighting a wizard, and there met the bogies, who were being abused by their king. Jack shanked the Bogey King hardcore and took his title and powers. Though still slipping day by day, Jack cared for the bogeymen, and this act of humanity locked down a portion of his mind. Soon after, Jack found the Jack of Blades, out-shanked him hardcore, and took his powers as well, driving the Jack of Sparrows into hiding. After that and a brief bit of IEDS (interdimensional evil dating service), he met Tenebria and freed the Quietians. He now plots to undo his curse and take over a signifigant portion of the Nexus to ensure the Quietians a safe place to live.
Jack can travel through shadows, manipulate them, control blades and sharp objects around him, put out lights, play a mean guitar solo, cast illusions, put out lights, and harden shadows into other objects or nigh-impenetrable armour, though bright light weakens him and can burn away his shadow creations.

A tall man wrapped in bandages, with a hideously scarred and burned face with a silver cross branded to it and his teeth replaced with metal fangs. Dark blue eyes burn with dangerous insanity, and ragged strands of brown hair hang out from beneath a wide brimmed brown inquisitor's hat with a silver cross on the front. He dresses in dark brown and grey leather inquisitorial gear, complete with silver buckles and buttons, and his fingertips are covered in sharp metal caps where he has gnawed them down to the bone. He usually wears a white mask with a black, stylized cross on the front, and wears several metal plates beneath his clothing.
Terek was a freedom fighter in a nation ruled by vampires, but was captured, turned, and broken, forced to drink the blood of his wife after being starved for a year by having his teeth yanked out. Terek is now a crazed hitman with a specialty for killing the undead, a hatred of vampires, and a strange immunity to religious artifacts being used against him and less of a weakness to silver. He is especially skilled at making debilitating blows in hand to hand combat, enjoying the crack of a jaw or the splintering shatter of a pelvis being pummeled to dust.

Alias: The Mind Thief
Gender: Male
Race/Species: Human
Age: 20
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Class/Profession: Thief
Power Rating: 2
Description: Tall, skinny but not lanky, with wide hazel eyes filled with fear. His oily black hair has a greenish-gray tint to it in the right light, and is almost always a complete mess. His skin is a shallow alabaster color with an almost sickly gray tint to it. The air around him is invariably muggy and has a slightly slimy feel to it, like one is near a foul swamp. He has a word tattooed in a strange language on his lower left arm that translates from Cthuvian as 'claimed'. Due to the brand, he is effectively in his early to mid teen years. The elder gods like veal.
EDIT:
Riley had his left arm shot off, but it has now been replaced by a prosthetic. The upper half and the shoulder cup are made of transparent plasteel that shows off the wiring and gearwork inside. The lower half is opaque and gray and there's a hole in Riley's palm that serves as the bolt pistol's barrel, and the clip wraps around his wrist. Also, he's now pretty buff for a kid his age, and his skin is a much healthier color. The feeling of death no longer surrounds him, but there's still something off putting about his 'aura'. He can age now, and is closer to seventeen.
Personality: Now substantially more stable, but still generally a coward and well aware of it, though he swears up and down his occasional bouts of heroism are just moments of stupidity. Riley is now somewhat normal thanks to CB's help, and while still very fearful, he is less likely to fly into a panic, and no longer compulsively takes things just to examine them.
Equipment: Nothing but his clothes, his wallet, and simple silver ring at the moment. Oh, and his prosthetic has a bolt pistol built into it.
Abilities: He's pretty much as good at parkour as a human could be. While he's definitely not capable of pulling some assassin's creed type stuff, he can easily lose any mundane pursuers if need be. He also has the ability to steal a physical or mental trait or bestow insanity upon anyone he touches with his bare hands. He cannot touch someone without doing this, so he usually wears gloves. It is extremely uncomfortable for him, and he hears loud, otherworldly, sanity breaking voices. The more traits he steals, the more voices he hears and the shorter the amount of time he can maintain them. He often uses this to knock someone out or make them dizzy so that he can steal from them without worrying about them freaking out at him.
Backstory: Hails from a scifi setting with lots of lovecraftian influences. Wound up getting his arm shot off and replaced with a weaponized prosthetic, went back to try and save the other children from the cult that planned to feed them to Cthulhu and wound up just getting the kids killed and himself mutilated and molested by a yuan-ti woman.
