Re: [Nexus] Riverside X: Take a Walk on the Wildside
[A Location In Northside]
Considering the majority of the gargoyles are now going around the building in search of her smell, the detour won't last long. The creatures are three, one two coming from one side and another from the other.
Ghoul might tell they aren't that fast on the ground (except on short distances apparently) but they are searching the area thoroughly with all their senses. She might able to get away with a quick burst of speed, or she is likely going to be found out.
[Northside Building]
Samona can probably disappear within the crowd once she get out the building, there is a patrol of gargoyles approaching but they are still quite a distance away from the building.
The woman, now alone, just follows along quietly. But she have recovered from her initial shock a bit and is now actively listening to everything what's going on. She was still alive, that meant she was going to be kept that way right? It was how kidnapping worked. Then again, nothing had been particularly usual about this.
[Malchenar - Valente]
This statement is followed by an awkward silence which quickly spreads over the table. From their expression alone Valente can probably tell that Lucius is regarding the vampire rather cautiously now. He hadn't really counted on Valente being a boyfriend, or being so protective for that matter.
Kato suddenly seem very interested in the rules again while Adisa is openly looking at Valente.
Astrana just seem surprised, very surprised in fact, not exactly sure what to say either. Thankfully there is still one person who does. "So aren't you going to say you're sorry now?" Sylvia wonders as she puts out a second dragon piece on the table.
"...right. Sorry if I came on like that. I didn't know." The tiefling replies curtly, his yellow eyes meeting Valente's gaze unwaveringly.
Astrana is silent for the moment however, letting Valente respond first even if she in a way was the source of the conflict. Boys were so silly sometimes.
[Kami Hunting]
As soon as Cessie can feel the kami she attempts to walk quickly towards him or her and try to as discreetly as possible call her attention. "Excuse me? Could I speak to you for a moment. It's rather important."
-
Re: [Nexus] Riverside X: Take a Walk on the Wildside
[Northside Building]
For the moment, Samona heads swiftly South and East. She stays around other people, keeping her arm around the woman and trying to look natural. With any luck people will think Samona is supporting the woman if she looks distressed.
[Malchenar - Valente]
"It's alright, I probably overreacted anyway." That apology sounds anything but sincere to Valente, and the vampire doesn't sound like he's letting it go. The way he's not breaking eye contact suggests that there's going to be a problem if the tiefling doesn't smarten up sometime soon, but for the moment he won't make it a big issue.

Harnel will follow a bit, finding the creature unusual, but uncertain as to the immediate importance with speaking with it. Maybe it was another kami? Weird looking one in comparison to the weirder looking ones from before.

Re: [Nexus] Riverside X: Take a Walk on the Wildside
[Malchenar - Valente]
"Great, then I attack Lucius territory with my dragon!" Sylvia suddenly exclaims as she moves her pieces across the board, making the tiefling break eye-contact as he looks down at the board. "For the last time... you can't be the dragon."
If Valente would look at Astrana at the moment however he can tell she's smiling faintly at him while Sylvia and Lucius are focused on the board.
"Let her be the dragon, it's just one piece, she can just hold one territory at once." Kato argues.
The tiefling sigh, "Fine, but if I lose, this doesn't count."
"Yay!" Sylvia exclaims as she and Lucius roll some dices. "I win!" Apparently the game is decided partly on luck with the die.

Re: [Nexus] Riverside X: Take a Walk on the Wildside
[Malchenar - Valente]
Only after Lucius breaks eye contact does Valente indeed glance at Astrana. He was a bit worried he'd made an ass of himself, so the smile is reassuring. He gives her a small smile in return before he looks back at the game.

The little female thing (It seems to have a feminine face, even though the coat obscures it's body shape) looks at Cessie, gives a slight eep, and takes off running. Cessie has enough time to get a look at small fangs protruding from its lips, driving home that it's probably not human.
She races into a side-alley, they pair had better move fast to keep up with her.

Re: [Nexus] Riverside X: Take a Walk on the Wildside
Masks Temple
The cold water in the bathroom sink gave Trind's head the shock it needed to clear away her nervousness at what she was about to do. She smiled into the mirror as her Mistress stood behind her, brushing her hair. "You'll do fine." Jezebel told her with a small smile. "Just remember what you want to say, say it, and react however you feel is necessary. They won't expect you to speak perfectly, so don't worry." The Daemon-Queen tells the dark haired woman before leaning down to kiss the top of her head. "Now go and get dressed. You have a speech to make."
Trind's eyes smiled as she watched her Mistress leave before she finished her makeup to head to the bedroom to change.
Eastside Elections
Off to the side, a bit away from the others, Trind shoos away a small platform that two of her aides brought her, seeming to prefer to be down on the level with the rest of the populace. The woman appears to be perfectly human and a handful of inches over five feet in height, but she holds herself "tall" and proud.
http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/1207/tek809d294.png (Tektek courtesy of Happyturtle)
"Pe..." She starts, only to cough to help adjust her throat, unused to speaking to such a large audience. "People of Eastside! My name is Trind Calanolius Evenart and I believe it'd be a privilege to serve you!" She tells them all with a smile. When one of the gentlemen in the crowd around her, possibly a plant, wolf-whistles, the woman laughs merrily. "Not that way, at least, not just yet. Maybe if you can keep up!" She shouts back, making a small number of people around her laugh before continuing. "As I was saying, I believe it'd be an honor to serve you all as a representative. I know what it is like in this city. I know what it is like to go from living in the streets to an apartment and right back to the streets. A few of you might even know who I was when I served as a "Callgirl" right on the corner of Fifth and Righteous." She admits. "I'm not proud that I've had to sell myself for a living, but I am proud that I have learned and grown as a person for it. I know many of you have made the same choices. Let's face it people, Life is a tough bastard and few people will help you make it easier."
After she gives a nod, she begins walking through the crowd, gesturing slowly to bring attention to herself and her points. "And even if you haven't been in such situations yourself, I'm sure you know or have at least seen many who are. I used to be among the "Unnoticeable" people in the gutters, scraping a life out, doing the drugs, drinking the booze, and dancing the horizontal tango to get the money I needed for the first two." She says with obvious sadness and distaste towards herself.
"But, for all of that, when I was at my lowest - deep in withdrawal and without a penny to my name - a single helping hand reached out and offered the first little glimmer of hope to my meek existence. She took me in, gave me a bed and a small job and helped me at the time I needed it most." Trind tells her audience with a small smile. "I entered the darkness that lines the streets, alleys, and gutters and came out the other side a clean and better person for it. Now I wish nothing more than to be given a chance to offer the same aide to others who need it, but I need your help to do it!" She tells them all, pointing at the crowd in a sweeping gesture and meeting their eyes.
"Right now, we're at a junction where we can improve our city. We can improve our lives and the lives of everyone else in it. We can clean the streets as well as the people, but first we have to be willing to do so and I am. The others might be politicians in it for power and control, but I'm in it for you. Let me be your person, let me be your helping hand."
In the middle of the crowd, she finally stops and pauses, spinning slowly in place to gaze upon everyone.
"But most of all, let us be the redemption that this city deserves."

Aegidus Manor
The other will is in the study of the Master of the house, on the top floor just below the attic in the dead center of the manor. Jane is two floors below it, and the stairs she went to don't go to that particular room. Though they do go to the fifth floor, the blueprints note that there are no doors to the study on the fifth floor, instead there is a hatch leading from the master bedroom below it to the room directly. If she wants to get at the will, she'll have to go through the bedroom or find some way not marked on the blueprints. Considering Balthazar's room wasn't marked, the latter possibility isn't entirely out of the question.
Eastside Elections
A familiar soft-hearted hulk stands in the crowd with a crate on his shoulder, having walked by on his way to give his own second ever political speech. Something in Trind's speech touched him, as he knew all too well the pains of living on too little to eat and with no shelter but what you could make, before he managed to secure a proper job that didn't involve taking care of trouble for a mob way back when he was a teen. He'd cleaned up since then, but those years still stung when he was sober enough to remember them, which was distressingly often since he got forced into politics by his boys.
"Hear here! The lady's right, and I'll stand by what she says. Don't forget that this part of the city stood on its own when none would help us, and came through the fires and fights better than all the rest! Now, we've got to make that change, that spirit, last ahead for our children to see, and grow so that none of them will feel the bite of a cold winter wind and coarse gravel under their backs as they lay their heads down to rest. They'll live in the tomorrow we fought for, not the yesterday we regret. AYE!?" The massively built man sets down the crate he was carrying with a thump and puts one heavily laced boot atop it, staring around at the crowd like a bird of prey, waiting to hear a dissenting voice so he can latch a glare onto them.
But no dissent comes, and Brody's own supporters, who were just now trickling onto the common ground to hear his speech, answer his call with a rousing chant that builds as more people are swept up into it.
"AYE AYE AYE! AYE AYE AYE! AYE AYE AYE!"

As the workers cheer Trind's speech, a young, silver-haired woman in the crowd applauds as well. She considers the working-girl-made-good to be just the sort of leader needed, and gives a broad smile and wave of approval if a glance comes her way...

Trind blushes ever-so-slightly at Brody's appraisal of her, but she doesn't miss a beat and steps forward to reach out to try and take his hand, holding it high with her own. "You heard the man! We can do anything if we wish to now. Let us unite and build our world into a better place. For Eastside!"

Brody's hand could practically engulf hers, but he lets her raise his arm to the sky anyway, lending a bit of help so she doesn't appear to struggle with it, "FOR EASTSIDE!" Their call is answered by all of his supporters with one voice, and most likely all of the people who came to see her as well.

Fallow's Furry & Feathered Friends, Outside
From outside, it's hard to see the pets. Fallow's specialises in large and dangerous creatures, and it seems perfectly suited for that- tall, concrete walls topped with a walkway and a row of razor wire on each side, with a tower on each corner and on either side of the gate. The gate's open at the moment, and is a hefty thing of seemingly solid steel. Walking along the walkways are humans with dart guns and heavy nets, and on either side of the gate and patrolling inside the compound are ogres. All wear a functional uniform made of heavy padding, kevlar plates, mirrored visors and gas masks. To stop the guards from seeming too intimidating, the uniforms are all very bright pink, though on the ogres it doesn't quite work.

Elections
Vita smiles faintly as she sees the crowd's enthusiasm. "I don't have that ability to speak to a crowd. I don't think I'm going to win."
"Of course you will," Felis says. "It's a Senate. There will be a seat for you, even if you aren't as loud."
Vita doesn't reply, but she shakes her head. She'll be disappointed if she doesn't get elected. She really wanted to be able to put her training to use again. But perhaps it was better for Riverside natives to do the job.

Re: [Nexus] Riverside X: Take a Walk on the Wildside
[Eastside]
After a few weeks of campaigning, debating and trying to sway the populace, the democratic election in Eastside is over. A Parliament was chosen and, more importantly, the district now has a mayor. The victor of the mayoral election is Donncha O Donnail, the candidate put forth by the Democracy Now movement. His down-to-earth approach, easily relatable life story and warm personality as well as being supported by the movement that made the election happen all earned him the favor of the people.
Now he stands atop a massive stage - the same one where the election was announced weeks ago. He's a man of forty-five who used to be athletic but has gone soft in his recent years. He's got a mane of dark blonde hair, brown eyes and an angular, clean-shaven face. Behind him stand other Democracts as well as his husband, a short and muscular red-haired man. When he addresses the gathered crowds, he does so with an air of friendliness and camaraderie.
"Friends," he begins, "Some of you voted for me and some did not, but it does not matter now. What matters is that you voted at all. We finally took the reins of Eastside into our own hands. The future is going to be full of surprises and challenges, but we will finally take them on ourselves instead of expecting others to do it for us. With that, I would like to congratulate all the candidates who were elected to the Eastside Parliament. I look forward to working with all of you," he says, with a nod towards the benches on which the newly appointed members of the Parliament of Eastside are seated. "Unfortunately, the road ahead of us will be rocky. The rest of Riverside is still under the heel of factions, and it has endured crime and lawlesness for a very long time now. It will need time and hard work to make it a place under the rule of law, order and fairness. There are those who will oppose us, as they thrive on chaos and social decay. But know this, citizens of Eastside," Donncha says, his voice becoming firm, "They cannot oppose the will of the people. If they try, they will fail. Not even a spiteful god and his crony could stand against us when they tried to turn our city into a festival of violence and excess. Remember this."
These words are answered by a roar of support from the crowd. Even some of those who did not support O Donnail are moved by the speech. Donncha waits for the uproar to die down.
"The first order of business will be to create the official law enforcement of Eastside. Without it, our new social order will be fragile and unstable. I will discuss it with the Parliament and reach a decision together, but for now, these are the people I would see in this role: the Hunters."
Right on cue, two dozens of people march out from behind the stage. They are dressed in dark blue longcoats embroidered with a stylized "H" at the front. Some are humans, some are not. In the front stands a wiry old man who looks as though he just recovered from an illness or extreme fatigue.
"They used to function on the fringes of this city, as vigilantes regarded with suspicion by the factions. They have fought against the riots caused by the immortal self-proclaimed god Dionysius. Now that Eastside is back in order and governed by the people it truly belongs to, it should change. I propose that the Hunters become our law enforcement. I will discuss the matter with the Parliament in length. For now, I wish you all luck. Stay safe and stay together. We've made this change happen and we can do so much more - if we stay on that course."

Re: [Nexus] Riverside X: Take a Walk on the Wildside
[A Location In Northside]
Speed would be one of the easier things to muster although timing might be the problem. Still, vertical walls were not as restricting as they used to be so, if it were necessary, Ghoul would be able to cling to the sides of the alleyways given the result of a run in with a rather nasty reptilian monster in the hunting grounds although staying there for long was likely not going to be entirely beneficial.
Lacking anything other than her other pistol, the muse decided that taking time to draw and fire a few rounds would simply be time wasted and went for the best clear opening that she could see. If she managed to slip away, then she would try to make her way to the eastern side of Riverside.
But if not, well, it's not as if she wasn't completely unable to defend herself. It was simply not something she saw as tactically sound at the moment. Or at least not for the next ten minutes or so.

"Alright, my turn then." Lucius states as Sylvia moved in her dragon in his former territory. "Guess I have no choice but to attack you Valente now that Sylvia here is blocking my path to the neutral lands." He says while starting to place out his troops.
"Be nice to the beginners Lucius." Kato reprimands him.
"Hey, this is the best way for him to learn the game and besides, I don't have much choice since someone decided to change the rules have I?" He replies with a glance at Sylvia who is busy gushing over her dragon, having a strange fascination for the piece.
[Kami Hunting]
"Wait, please! You might be in danger!" The dragon yells after the figure and attempts to follow her. Her dress will likely hinder her efforts however.
[Eastside Elections]
Tarim, servant of the burning light is a quite prominent sight at the elections due to his sheer size. He doesn't seem all too happy with most of the candidates either. "Nearly all these people want to corrupt and dominate this new society. They are just puppets to demons and other monsters. We need to look into their connections somehow, bring them out into the light. That's the only way to destroy the darkness." He remarks to a nearby hunter.

His goal is to snatch the running one by the coat, but most likely, he'll just be able to keep up, not catch up, if she's going as fast as I'm imagining she's going.

Indeed, the little thing is very fast and corners well. However, it takes a wrong turn and winds up in a dead end. It begins to jump up a pile of boxes and other sturdy detritus (she proves capable of impressive jumps) but the pair do have a chance to catch her.

Nadia is seated in the kitchen, and doesn't appear to be in a very good mood. She's getting to be a fairly good size around the stomach now. Big enough that she's obviously pregnant even with her somewhat baggy clothing.
The lampades hold a glass of wine in one hand. She doesn't intend to drink it, however. It's there to serve another purpose, which she is very reluctant to go through with. After some hesitation she lifts the glass and says "To Dio." Without much enthusiasm. She sets the glass down and waits.
-
Re: [Nexus] Riverside X: Take a Walk on the Wildside
Suncrest Manor
"Why, that wasn't very enthusiastic at all." Dionysus replies as he slumps down into a chair opposite Nadia's, placing his elbows heavily on the table and sighing as he rests his chin on his folded hands. He doesn't look so chipper himself.
"Is it time to break ties to your mad god of romp and revelry? Somehow, I never suspected you'd last this long with how unsuited you were to the life." Right into things then. The wine god seems resigned to the fact that Nadia would want nothing more to do with him after hearing of what he caused (and how could she not with being in the city when it happened), but the thought of it still makes him rather sad.
Wildside
All is rather calm in the forest these days, after Lenai shooed out all of the erstwhile fey that she could and conscripted the rest into terraforming her groves into something a bit less orderly, the dangerous ring of trees surrounding the city had settled into a familiar rhythm. She received larger and larger amounts of honey from the bees through Cole and made a larger batch of mead, some of which was stockpiled, some laid out for the absentee god who commissioned it, and some traded to the Masks and the Quelans as part of a continued pact. Between the Masks helping to patrol the forest and the few remaining fey that she allowed to stick around so long as they didn't cause havoc, the forest had gotten a tiny population of its own. Not nearly so much as the proper districts of the city, and she aimed to keep it that way, but she was getting used to the idea of other people staying in her woods. At least she had more people to talk to other than Cole and her incorrigible grandchildren.

"What else could you do? You could talk, I suppose. Ask me for yourself what happened instead of believing in the secondhand accounts. There's a lot I could tell you, if you wanted to hear a few truths once and for all." Dio's smile creeps back on to his face unexpectedly. The idea that he could tell someone something true seems to take a weight off his shoulders for a moment, despite how absurd it is.

"Because a god should not be able to decide things for a mortal. For any mortal. My anger at your rape was not solely on your behalf, or on behalf of myself for having one of my own assaulted. It was that the decision was taken from you by a god's selfish whim, an event so common that it is practically accepted. Something that should never, ever be alright to anyone." His smile fades, and the god pinches the bridge of his nose to hold back a labored sigh.
"And I have been watching it happen, watching my own siblings and my father especially violate this rule of mine, that seeing it done to one of my own pushed me over the edge. I was driven so deeply into my anger that not even a close friend could bring me back once I'd committed myself to what I was doing. I was fully engrossed in proving to Riverside that what gods do on a whim is not to be tolerated, and to give them a voice to unite with. And so, I did a horrible thing, and here we are. Riverside is changed forever in its own way because of my actions, and I can only hope that they'll be better for it down the road even though I regret my actions in anger. That's the truth. It wasn't common of me to do something like that, just a moment of weakness and a misplaced hope that what I did would set an example for others."
-
Re: [Nexus] Riverside X: Take a Walk on the Wildside
[Suncrest Manor]
Nadia looks... horrified actually. It was bad enough to find out that Dio was behind all this, but the fact he was doing it because of her is just too much. "How could you possibly think that would help anything? I just wanted to hope my life would go back to normal after all this mess, not be the reason for a huge riot and people dying." She pauses to try and slow her breathing and wipe away the tears welling up in her eyes. She's not very successful. "Just get out. I can't deal wit this."
