I know the movie for you...
Seriously, it's a terrible movie. But it has an ostrich.

...I think I'll just reread Pern books.
(I always imagined runners as riding birds...)

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
I was looking at the comic and thinking about it, and in 196 Miles says our escape, as well as having 10 rounds to make it. I know you guys are better at guessing than I am, but I still can't see him not at least trying to escape :)

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
Or he was only saying that to make sure that Lexington would be okay with it.
After all, if Miles said that he had to stay behind, I have a feeling that Lexi would have objected and wasted their ten rounds.

It's a failed comedy, and few things are more painful to watch than failed comedy.

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
@Coffee: I'd thought I'd do some fan art.
Are you at all adverse to your creations being given pony form? Because I thought I'd do the scene from Issue #190: No Reset Button For You where Serrin is standing on the ceiling.

Absolutely no problem at all. I made ponified versions of the characters, but I couldn't save it to my computer...:smallfrown:

Thus why I didn't rush out to take your recommendation. :smalltongue:

I wonder why failed comedy is so painful.
Edit: And something for Coffee to look at for next exam period.

Storytelling is also like building - you construct an entire world, an entire universe with people that have motivations and emotions, all in the minds of whoever is listening to you or reading your story. I guess this is why both engineering and writing appeal so much to me.
This! So much this!
As for character's talking back, I've never had that happen, I just start writing a scene and suddenly they are doing things OTHER than what I wanted them to do....
I've actually found it really interesting, working on a webcomic with an artist, things tend to ... change a little, between script and comic sometimes, and the artist doesn't see the change all the time, but it always WORKS. It's like the characters are talking back to the both of us!
On the current comic, Coffee.... The three rules of teleporting. Location, Location, Location.

/exactly/
The worst thing is when the plot and the characters suddenly tell you 'Hey, that character you love? Needs to die.'

"Writers aren't exactly people. They're a bunch of people trying to be one person." -F. Scott Fitzgerald.
I feel that is definition enough.

And then the nice people with white coats come with the syringes and the shirt with the extra long sleeves.
Yeah, just kidding.

*sigh* started yesterday, already caught up.
Now what do I do?

Plot! It is funs! Shipping noncanon! It is annoying to everyone but the shippers!
@Goldclaw(You can do normal ones, if you want to. But those are in their own section. No one goes there. :smallwink:)

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
All of the above? :smalltongue:
So I have another exam tomorrow, wish me luck! I should be able to update this weekend.

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
This is probably an oddly specific question... But what colour are the eyes of the main characters?

Remember the link I showed you. Even Coffee needs to rebel from time to time.

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
Green's as good a place holding colour as any other. Though I have a suspicion that brown is the most common colour among Kagoans due to their proclivity for brown hair.
So... Unfinished Fanart:
I just need to add in a background and weather the storm of complaints that Serrin isn't adorable enough.
Damn... I got the ears wrong...
-
Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
I would have thought Serrin was a unicorn.

Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
I can't make Serrin's cutie mark... what is it supposed to be?
-
Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
Serrin's a unicorn, of course. :smalltongue: I'd have put her ears as longer than normal instead of sharp and pointy, and in the ponymaker thing I have her body a slightly darker shade of lavender, but that's okay.
I'd say Lloyd's cutie mark is a shield or scales (Janine's is the sun), and what's Serrin's cutie mark supposed to be? But I do like it, and thank you!
I need to draw pony versions of all the characters. Maybe I'll have a chance.
-
Re: Murphy's Law 8: College? What About It?
All right, all right! I forgot to add in the horn!
Serrin's cutie mark is a couple of runes. I put them too close together and they're hard to make out. I couldn't think of any other ideas, so that's what I went with. (Also, one is a private joke)
As for the ear, I made it pointy because really long ears look strange. I also got them around the wrong way.
And I agree. Lloyd's cutie mark is a shield. I just put a sunburst behind it.
Now... To begin the really quick and easy task of unicornifying Serrin.
And then the long and arduous task of adding in a background.
Should I just do a miscellaneous blank field of purple like the scene in question, or actually do something?
In which case, what kind of building are they in?

Few people realize that MLP;FiM subscribes to the the trifunctional hypothesis and so may be an ancient Indo-European culture.
