Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
Oh, I found more foreshadowing immediately after the "King Radical kills Chuck in the past" strip.
Spoiler
Show
King Rad a) knew where Chuck came from and approximately why he was there and b) inquired after every single other Chuck for the same reasons.
He knew exactly what was going on because he was a Chuck.

One is a mayor, other is a king. That's... also important, right?

They do have the same nose, which is the only facial feature you can really make out under King Radical's facial hair, crown and sunglasses.

Yep. It's got everything you'd get in the individual trades, just in one giant brick.

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
This page : "Every parallel universe has some global tragedy and Chuck Goodrich will always be the man to find a time portal and try to prevent it"
This page : "Time travel is a difficult art with few experts. There's a reason it's always Chuck Goodrich."
This page : "Despite defeating and banishing Sparklelord, our radical lands have been destroyed. And so I leapt into the space-time portal I discovered to find some kind of solution"
Conclusion : Holy **** on a pogo stick!

All the other Chuck Goodriches that ended up in Cumberland didn't get to be in charge of anything, so probably not.

Damnit, Chuck, don't talk, just shoot.

Chuck! You've created a TIME PARADOX! Don't mess with the future!
...Damnit, it's just like the windmill and the Song of Storms, isn't it?

It's not a paradox unless he kills king Radical. King Radical knew A chuck was going to try and kill him. It's obvious what happens. This is the part where they lead us to believe Chuck dies. Then he makes a surprise come back down the road, thwarting... something.
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
It won't be a time paradox at all, considering how time travel works in the McNinja world. A new timeline will just be created.
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
Hi everyone !
Just registered to ask you this question:
How much good would a goodrichchuck do if a goodrichchuck could do good ? :smallconfused:
Also: this plot twist is cool to the straight max :smallcool:

Paradox as in the guy in the windmill in Ocarina of Time.
He teaches you the Song of Storms when you pull out your Ocarina in the future, saying a kid in the past played it and made it rain inside the windmill. Which you do (thus teaching the guy the song). The paradox is the question "where does the Song of Storms originally come from?"
Chuck is possibly giving Rad the idea to bring in his more Radical people by replacing the un-Rad people in the relatively lame world.
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
It may be a stable time loop. (TV TRopes link)
Spoiler
Show
That's if Radical kills Chuck right now and then a younger Chuck happens to pop by to witness his own death.
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
I'd like to point out that each Chuck seems to have his unique time suit color:
"Zombies" aka Original Chuck is yellow
"Robot vacuums" Chuck is blue
"Space savers" Chuck is purple
"Killed by Radical" Chuck is green

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
Dangit Chuck...you know how this ends. What are you doing?

That's less of a paradox and more of an ontological time loop (like Fry from Futurama becoming his own grandfather or White Mage from 8-bit Theater creating the whole universe she happens to live in). Paradox implies a contradiction which is not present in the Ocarina of Time example.
I hurts to think about this too much, but you can even encounter such time loops in physics - if you assume that antiparticles are normal particles travelling backward in time, then virtual particles are exactly this (I can provide citation if need be).

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
This is Mayor Chuck. Also, he didn't say anything about zombies to Past Radical. Any memories to the contrary are purely a delusion on your part and require re-education.

I noticed that as well. It bothers me that it was changed, but I think the new page flows better.

Well I feel better now... I could have sworn there was some kind of plot hole involving chuck mentioning zombies...
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
It wouldn't be a plot hole if he mentioned the zombies. It's still the same Chuck.
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
Part of me wonders if he got confused about which Chuck this was and retconned it just to be safe :smalltongue:
(I realize this is probably not what happened)
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
The issue was that if Chuck mentioned zombies in the past, King Radical would know that it was the Chuck in this strip that would go back to stop him.
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
Oh I see now. Cool.
Also, is Chuck going to accidentally tell King Radical how he can use the time portal to do the reality mashup?
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
It only just occurs to me - whatever else he was lying about,
Spoiler
Show
Motorbike!Sparklelord may have, in fact, been telling the truth when he said "I was the king of the forest, and King Radical burned it down to build a rollercoaster or something!"
Spoiler
Show
He wasn't necessarily talking about the current King Radical. And he may have just said "or something" because he can't quite remember exactly what it was.

Honestly, I was willing to believe it was referring to the current King Radical and was literally a true statement. Radical could have burned it down before becoming king, but Sparklelord would still say King Radical did it, not "Chuck Goodrick did it! What, no not that Chuck, the one you know as King Radical now!"
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
He would use "Sir Sicknasty of Spades" since by royal decree, that is Radical Chuck's name, since he became king, if it happened before that "King Radical" still did it though.

Okay, another issue regarding time travel.

Linky.
Chuck is Thomas Jefferson?
Meh, I've always taken that wink to mean those panels weren't to be considered canon.

There's not much of a resemblance. Maybe scones and crumpets threaten some parallel world, though, so Chuck/Jefferson goes back in time to stop the British or something.

He's not saving the world here. I mean, if the Brits had won the American Independence War, that wouldn't have made much of a difference to the world at large. Compared to a robot uprising, zombie pandemic, or spacefaring dinosaur invasion, it's nothing.
