The mace will be passed over! It's as heavy as it looks, which is unusual for a magic weapon.
Riverside Temple
Cass hefts the mace one or two times. It didn't click with her the same way holding that scimitar does. "Feels like you could really smack someone with her."
Riverside Temple
Cassidy is sent some empathic pain. "Sorry, should have warned you. She's, um, sensitive about her weight. I have no idea why, but... Yes, she's good at hitting things with. Because she transmits pain to them when she hits them." Because there's several different ways to achieve sentience in a weapon. In Beautiful's case, a human soul was trapped in the iron as it was forged. It's her original face on both sides.
Riverside Temple
Cassidy cringes when sent some pain. "Sorry, I didn't mean it like that," she manages to say. She hoped she didn't have to deal with this from her own weapon.
Riverside Temple
A burst of happiness seems to show Beautiful's acceptance of the apology. The mace's faces also seem to accept the apology. "Dealing with sentient weapons, such as Beautiful, can be rather trying. But she makes up for it in other ways, sending fear, pain, and humiliation to my opponents in battle, and courage, anger, and resolve to me and my allies." Some weapons also make very good conservationists as well.
Riverside Temple
"Sounds like a good time for anyone involved," Cassidy says. She offers the mace back to Defelent. "You can have her back. I think you're more suited to her than I am, anyway."
Riverside Temple
"OK." Defelent will take Beautiful back. "I'm going to put you back now, Beautiful. Ow. But I promise that the next time I get you out, I'll have a nice weapon rack for you so you can see and hear everything that's going on, OK, Beautiful? I'm glad you approve." With that, he'll put Beautiful back into the chest and close it. "She's rather limited, as sentient weapons can go. Some can talk, or use spells. But I like her the way she is." Defelent smiles.
Riverside Temple
"I don't blame you for that. Wonder if my scimitar's any different," she says. "I mean, probably not, but I guess there's the possibility," Although she still preferred weapons that just did their thing without any sort of emotion.
Riverside Temple
"You won't know until you try. There's a weapon's instructor I know of in the city. He's quite good, if you want some lessons. Might be he can tell you what your scimitar does. Anyway, let's leave Tracy to her sleep." Defelent will at that point head towards the door and hold it open for Cassidy.
Riverside Temple
"Of course, wouldn't want to wake her up." Cassidy heads out of the room with Defelent. Once the door's closed, she asks, "Who was that anyway? Your girlfriend?"
Riverside Temple
"Yes. Well, one of them. I'm polyamourous, but all of them know they aren't the only girl in my life." More accurately, Defelent has one girlfriend and a pleasure-slave. Tracy's the slave, and the girlfriend is currently off-screen.
Riverside Temple
Cassidy shrugs. "As long as they know. That kind of relationship isn't unheard of back home. They don't work all the time, though.
Riverside Temple
"No, you have to be careful about it. But even so, it has its advantages." Defelent smiles.
Riverside Temple
"I don't know, I can't really imagine any perks to that style," Cassidy says with a deadpan tone of voice and a bit of a smirk.
Riverside Temple
"Well, if I break up with one, I can be comforted by another. Though if I choose poorly as to which one comforts me, I might break up with two." Defelent's smile indicates that this isn't the only perk, nor the one he intended Cassidy to think of.
Riverside Temple
Cassidy crosses her arms in a show of consideration. "Nah, I don't know about that one. You'll have to better to convince me that it's a good lifestyle."
Riverside Temple
"There's lots of variety. In addition to a catgirl, there's also a drow. No others at the moment, but there's been elves, halflings, humans, gynoids, lots. If I fancy a blonde, I can have a blonde, and then a brunette." The elves, halflings and humans have been off-screen. The gynoid was a long time ago, a character of iElf's.
Riverside Temple
"Sounds like a pretty wild time," Cassidy says while filing away 'gynoid' to look up later. "Can't say I've had a life that filled with variety."
Riverside Temple
It's a term for a female human form robot, with males being android. Android's usually used for both genders, however.
"Well, the variety might just be because I grew up in the Nexus, rather than polyamoury." His mother moved here when she was pregnant with him, to escape his temporarily-demonically-possessed father.
Riverside Temple
"Nah, I don't buy that. There are plenty of other types of metahumans back home, after all. Maybe not as much as the Nexus, though." Cassidy uncrowded her arms and leans against a nearby wall.
Riverside Temple
"But back home, if you walked down the street with an orc, or an elf, or any other non-human humanoid, with your arms linked, how accepted would it be? Here, nobody would look twice. Unless one party was especially attractive, anyway." If there's not much acceptance it's less likely to happen.
Riverside Temple
Cass shrugs at that. "Eh, you'd get some looks, especially from someone in Humanis Policlub, but it's been a few decades since that kind of crap was really bad."
Riverside Temple
"Yes, unfortunately human-supremacists are beginning to make noises in the Nexus, too. They seem to be located primarily in Inside, at least for now. Should they come here, they'll have some trouble- most of the ruling groups either aren't human or are very open-minded." But there is a bounty on the Middling Dalachrechians put on them by the human supremacists, so the clergy here would have to be more careful.
Riverside Temple
"Yeah, I've heard of those people. They're just as bad as Humanis, no matter how they want to dress their attitude," Cass starts to scowl a bit. She hated that kind of person. "Fortunately for them, they're far way from me."
Riverside Temple
"Beautiful doesn't like them either. Possibly because I don't. It's hard to tell sometimes. Sure, she's empathic, but that just means she knows what I'm feeling and can transmit feelings, like she did to you when she thought you insulted her." Nothing in that makes it easier to understand what she's feeling, however.
Riverside Temple
"I don't think anyone in this temple would like those white-sheeters," Cassidy says. "But I'm glad to know I have her support."
Riverside Temple
"You are the only member of the clergy at this Temple to be human, yes. The Inside Temple has two human clergy- the High Priest Terrowin, and Reverend Jorje, who will be marrying Reverend Destur soon. And there's Madame de la Moy, who's part giant but mostly human. Other than that, there's no humans amongst us. Well, both my parents were human, but I don't really count, do I?" Defelent smiles at the last.
Riverside Temple
"Yeah, you definitely don't count. I mean, don't take this the wrong way, but I don't really know what you are," Cass says. She's never really asked Defelent about his heritage, after all.
Riverside Temple
"I'm a tiefling. Most tieflings are the descendants of a half-demon, but my father was possessed by a demon before my mother was pregnant with me. A bit of the demon's essence found its way into me. My mother moved to the Nexus to evade my father; the demon had total control over him, even able to turn off his pain receptors, making him hard to stop. I never knew my father, but he's probably dead now." Defelent doesn't have much emotion in his voice as he talks; he only knows this much because he researched what his mother told him for additional information.
Riverside Temple
"Oh. Well, it's too bad for your mother, having to leave like that." Cassidy has a look of some sympathy on her face as she speaks. "'Specially for coming here."
