After a few minutes, the words and the two images on the ends blink out. The detailed picture of Rein's body continues updating as METIS scans him thoroughly. If Quinn and Rein don't want to chat, a half hour time skip can occur.
[Med Lab]
"Well, I could sedate you if you want," Quinn observes. "Or just hang onto you to hold you in one place..." she adds, sticking out her tongue.
Timeskip is fine either way, as I have shopping to do. :smallyuk:
[Med Lab]
Reinholdt looks at Quinn with some disbelief. "Since I'm actively working to stay here, I think sedating is a bad idea. So hold me Quinn. Hold me like my life depends on it, cause it does." Reinholdt holds open his arms in a big hug position.
The few remaining nanobots were indeed working on Rein's brain, though were slowed quite a bit by having to adapt, fortunately, making the damage minimal and probably not so bad as his usual stunts have caused. However, their attention is immediately diverted by the scan. Shortly thereafter, they'll end up leaving Rein's body voluntarily for what they consider to be more appropriate food...
[Med Lab]
Scan complete.
Nanites located.
Commence purging?
And then, before they have a chance to tell the AI to begin, the nanobots leave Rein like rats fleeing a sinking ship.
Nanites removed.
METIS is infected, but... I have no idea what the nanites are even capable of doing to this AI, which is a magical construct programmed with the secret druidic language. Do they start deleting memory or reprogram processes or what? :smallconfused:
[Med Lab]
Quinn rolls her eyes, and goes to hug Reinholdt!
...from behind. Hanging on tight!
And when the purging is announced, Quinn doesn't wait to speak up.
"Commence self purging procedure for infectious nannies. Lock on and sterilize now."
[Med Lab]
Reinholdt still manages to snap a picture with a free hand using his phone, though he has no idea how Quinn got behind him. He probably shifted and didn't even realize it. Not that it matters. The nanobots will probably eat that phone too.
And eating is pretty much all they do. Rein's imagination isn't the best for programming extremely complex programs. Their only goal is to devour and destroy.
"... Infectious nannies? Really?"
[Med Lab]
The nanites most likely start munching on the runes on the walls of the main room, then head to the basement to destroy the runes on the stone blocks there. Those are the only physical parts of METIS.
Scanning... The remaining runes on the walls glow brightly as the AI tries to locate the nanobots and destroy them with precision heat.
Main Cabin
Copi is quiet for now. Not a lot to say at the moment.
Far Side of the Lake
There are flowers blooming here! Little red ones.
This is odd because these flowers are not only out of season, but they are acting as ground cover, something this flower does not do: they generally are too competitive to cooperate in close quarters.
And yet here they are, a whole mass of them, in close quarters, jutting out of the snow in the middle of winter.

[Med Lab]
Quinn, for her part, will let go of Reinholdt as soon as she can.
"Call it a hunch," she observes, resolving to have herself scanned next.
[Med Lab]
Well it eats programming as much as anything. It was designed to eat an AI in his head after all.
Though they're not particularly hardy and can be destroyed with heat easy enough.
"Of c-" Reinholdt says before flickering and disappearing.
[Med Lab]
By the time METIS finishes destroying all the nanites, quite a bit of its programming is devoured. The projected words disappear.
[Med Lab]
"...dang it, so help me if you don't stop that I'm going to lock down the whole base in a Dimension Lock," Quinn blusters in frustration at Reinholdt's dissapearance.
Of course, whether she actually could is a good question. But he probably doesn't know that. :smalltongue:
"...final results?" she queries METIS.
Far Side of the Lake
Marley out on a walk, spots the odd flowers. He walks over to the flowers and tries poking one with his cane.
Far Side of the Lake
The flower poked reacts oddly. It grows larger, and then grows an... eye.
And this (disturbingly human-like) eye turns to look Marley up and down...
Far Side of the Lake
Marley flinchs back at the sight of the eye of the plant.
"Aaah!"
Marley trembles, holding his cane up between himself and the plant.
Far Side of the Lake
After looking at him, the eye will disappear and the whole patch of flowers will shift. After a moment it will be like some girl standing up, the flowers acting as hair or clothes. Marley may feel she is familiar, depending on who he knows around here: she looks like a mix between Jamie and her mother, Quinn.
"Hello."
Far Side of the Lake
Marley lowers his cane, he has met Jamie before, and Quinn many times due to having to make a number of trips to the infirmary in the past. Therefore this girl looks a bit familar.
"Ah hello. Who are you?"
Far Side of the Lake
"Jasmine," She replies simply. "And you?"
the excess flowers begin to disappear, almost like she is pulling them in. Her form shifts so that she has fur and scales in patterns that suggest clothes.
Far Side of the Lake
"Marley. So how long have you been here?"
Marley watchs as Jasmine changes herself a bit. That's a little odd.
Far Side of the Lake
"Not long," she says. "Not sure how long. Before it got cold." After saying that, she looks down at herself, and then makes the fur a bit thicker and cover her more completely. It is rather cold out.
Far Side of the Lake
"I see. Well are you staying with anyone here?"
Marley himself is wearing a second coat over his normal one and a scarf in addition to the tattered large coat that he usually wears.
Far Side of the Lake
"Sometimes with Jamie and Quinn," Jasmine explains, "but I'm used to being by myself, so I don't have to. I think I will more now that it's cold."
Far Side of the Lake
"I see. By the way, you look a bit like Jamie, are you related to her?"
Marley pulls his scarf closer around his neck.
Far Side of the Lake
"I have her genes, and Quinn's. Jamie has adopted me as a sister. I use their genes because they were the first humans I met."
This sounds more complicated than simple family relations. Even nexus family relations.
[Main Room]
Andy takes a deep breath. Reelshka doesn't sound in a good mood or at least is in a hurry.
"A new firm in Inside makes diferent operations. Most have to do with giving back lost limbs or replacing them. I talked to them and they search for a place where those people can learn to use these new limbs. Somthing like a rehab. Since GloG is a peaceful place I asumed we could offer such a thing. And No I didn't promise them anything. I wanted to hear the opinion of the other council member."
Far Side of the Lake
"Oh."
Well, that explains the flowers and the fur, if Jasmine uses genes from things she meets. Well, you met other strange things like a living robot who can change his shape, a talking cat from another dimension, this is fairly regular for how odd the nexus can be.
Far Side of the Lake
Jasmine nods. "And who are you, Marley?" She asks curiously.
